The National Football League is planning to hold a regular-season game in England this year. Story here. Yep, it's the game we Americans call football, and the reason we call the football played in England soccer!

Too bad we Americans can't watch this! I would have loved to see our 1950 win over the Brits!

I figured the Yanks would get their butts kicked. Number 4, indeed! (Maybe they will live up to their ranking! #biglaugh# )

I never believed the Americans had a real chance, but I'm surprised that Ghana has moved on, since everyone thought they'd finish dead last in their group!

I'm an American and think the Americans don't really have a chance, but I'm still pulling for them!
Of course, they finished dead last in '98…

The Triple Crown is the three biggest horse races for 3-year-old colts in the United States: the Kentucky Derby in Louisville, KY; the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore, MD; and the Belmont Stakes, run near New York City. No horse has won all three since Affirmed since 1978; and Barbaro was the heavy favourite to win the Preakness, after his convincing win in the Kentucky Derby.
Hope this explains it.

It was not Barbaro's day at the Preakness Stakes today. First, he jumped out of the starting gate and had to be led back in. And when the gates did open, he pulled up lame and finished dead last, with Bernardini winning the Preakess. I hope Barbaro is OK and they won't have to put him down.

Barbaro won today's Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY, today by a wide margin. And now it's off to Baltimore for the Preakness, where he will try to keep up his chances for winning the Triple Crown… Of course, they run these things on dirt tracks, and the horses turn left!

The NFL championship, known as the Super Bowl, has been set, and Super Bowl XL (forty, not extra large) is set for Detroit, MI, USA, on 5 February between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Seattle Seahawks.
So who will win the Super Bowl? That is, if you like American-style football.

I just hope that the US Grand Prix won't be the travesty it was last year!

One of the biggest sporting events in the States is the baseball championship called the "World Series," a misnomer because only one non-US team, the Toronto Blue Jays, has ever won it. This year, it will be the Chicago White Sox, making their first appearance since 1959, against the Houston Astros, making their first-ever appearance. Who will win the Series this year?

An American cricket team was kicked out of an international cricket tournament because they couldn't come to a decision when fielding a team! Story here. And you thought the Yanks didn't play cricket!
