28 This Is Love - PJ Harvey
First of two songs for P J Harvey in the top 30, they might be swapped on another day. This reached #41 in 20/10/2001

27 Get On The Funk Train - Munich Machine
Now one many of you may not know. My friends who I used to DJ with, had their own club night which for a time became one of the essential club nights iin Edinburgh. It was called 'Funk Train' and this was the theme song, whenever this came on, it was officially party time!!. This reached 'No. 41 on 24/12/1977. I would have loved to be at some Xmas discos when this was out hehe

26 The Island - Pendulum
Staying with dance music but from a different time and style entirely. This isn't the craziest Pendulum tune but its still a good one. It peaked at #41 on 02/10/10 .

25 I Can Dream - Skunk Anansie
This was their 2nd proper single and I think we all knew they were going to be a big band. This was more melodic than the debut, so we knew they had an ear for a hook. This reached #41 in 17/06/1995.

24 I Wanna Be Your Lover - Prince
Mmm controversial, I suspect many posters would say this was the greatest number 41 but #24 is a still a very high position. Like many this song pretty much passed me by at the time but its just a great soul funk tune, This reached #41 in 26/01/80

23 Tick Tick Boom - The Hives
Lead single from their 3rd album 'The Black and White album' and sadly the last time they grazed the top 75. I would rank this in my topo 3 songs from the band. It reached #41 in 20/10/07 .

22 The Kids Are Alright - The Who
The oldest song on the list, I know my knowledge of the 60s isn't amazing but was surprised this wasn't a top 40 hit. taken from the brilliant 'My Generation' album , it reached #41 in 10/09/66.

21 Tempted - Squeeze
Another song that many people woudl be surprised that it wasn't a top 40 hit, to me this is a bit of a jukebox classic, it always seemed to be on our Student Union jukebox. It reached #41 in 01/08/1981

20 All My Friends - LCD Soundsystem
I was expecting this to be his biggest hit but the inferior 'North American Scum' got one place higher, one of the big three LCDs sonsg for me and I still play this so much, it reached #41 in 09/06/07

19 Everything To Everyone - Everclear
They have other songs that are better known or better in general but this was a bit of a MTV2 classic for me, and it just has a special feeling. The US rock band did manage to have 2 top 40 hits including the brilliant 'Santa Monica', this reached #41 in 09/05/98.

18 Lenny Valentino - Auteurs
First hit from the early Brit Pop band led by Luke Haines, this moves away from the 60s feel of their debut single to more alt rock. This reached #41 in 27/11/93.

17 The Truth - Real People
Another early Brit Pop band who probably released most of their best music before its time. To me this is their signature tune but eventhough they will eventually score a top 40 hit, Real People never got the kudos they deserved. This reached #41 in 11/01/92.

16 Forest Fire - Lloyd Cole & The Commotions
This artist did get plenty acclaim at the time and really this song did really well, it isn't the most commercial track in the world so #41 was a bit of a result. This was the follow-up to brilliant 'Perfect Skin' and reached #41 in 15/09/84.

14 Obstacle 1 (Remix) - Interpol
Another debut hit taken from the album 'Turn on the Bright Lights' but it took the remix version to reach this peak in 27/09/2005.

13 I Feel So Peak - Box Car Racer
This was the one and only hit for the Tom DeLonge fronted Blink 182 side project, a bit less pop punk and a bit more proper punk. Taken from the album 'Box Car Racer' it reached #41 on 06/07/2002.

Of the ones mentioned so far, I love the George Ezra, System Of A Down, Courtney Love, Athlete, Pendulum and Hives ones, and don't know an awful lot of the others.

These next few songs are very close and 10,11 & 12 really are pretty equal.
12 I'm A Message - Idlewild
Their 3rd top 75 hit getting every closer to the top 40, which they smash through with their next single 'When I Argue I See Shapes'. All these songs are found on their first full album 'Hope Is Important'. This reached #41 in 24/10/1998

11 Breaking The Girl - Red Hot Chili Peppers
The final single taken from their breakthrough album 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik', I thought this song was quite underrated and it did surprisingly well in HF. It reached #41 in 15/08/1992
