54 A Fever You Can't Sweat Out - Panic! At The Disco
Really surprised this didnt make my top 50 and if I made this list 10 years ago it would have for sure. This album was very special to me at the time, I was utterrly obsessed with and in a weird way I thought I was the only person who liked them, whiich of course wasn;t true and would be very apparnet soon but nobody I knew knew them, just me being wrong generation again. Anyway it was a UK #17 and #US #13 and my 6th favourite album of 2005. They really weren't like anybody else, a special band.

53 The Lost Riots - Hope Of The States
Most of the bands in this remaining lsit are household names or at laest very well known but there are a couple who never quite managed to be as big or as long lasting as they deserved. Hope Of The States are defintely oen of those bands, one of the best live bands I ever saw and they should have been huge. If you dont know them think of a cross between The Libertines and The Verve. They just made epic music. They did have two huge hits but only becuase the charts werea bit messed up due to illegal downlaoding and legal downloads not being included yet. The album raeched #21 in the UK and was my 6th favourite of 2004.

52 The Airborne Toxic Event - The Airborne Toxic Event
Now we have a band who are still going and will get much bigger in the US in the 10s although their only hit here is from their debut album. That song was my favourite song of the year. Thus album was on an indie but then re-issued in 2009 on a major Island. The album will reach #108 in the US but 'Sometime Around Midnight' charts at #33 in the Uk in 2009 which was pretty incredible. So it coudl have been my #2 for 2009 but instead it's my #2 for 2008.

51 Your New Favourite Band - The Hives
This was a very close call for thew top 50 and only as its a little samey stopped it from making that cut. BUt we can'y forget what a shake off teh music scene The Hives made at the time, indie needed energy back and they brought it in spades. This album is actually a complilation of their first 2 albums for the UK market. I still treat it like a proper album though. It reached #7 in the UK. It is my #8 for 2001.

So here we are top 50 and we kick off with this
50 The Vertigo of Bliss - Biffy Clyro
This is the record where Biffy Clyro started to become one of my favourite bands. 'Questions and Answers' is still in my top 3 Biffy songs. I just love how it is a throwback to to US alt scene like Sonic Youth and Pavement when at the same time they were becoming a commercial rock band as well. I would love Biffy to make another record like this sometime, early 90s indie rock is really in right now and I think an updated version of this sound for them would be amazing. Really think I have marked this too low but when you see whats to come... The album reached #18 in Scotland and #48 in the UK. It is my 10th favourite album of 2003.

49 All Killer, No Filler - Sum 41
Yes this surprised me as well. I never bought it at the time just the singles but I do own it now. And this album is actually brilliant, yes the singles are some of the best rock songs of the 00s but the whole album still stands up and I enjoy it just as much now as 2001. If you just want an album that makes you smile and feel good, this is it. It reached #7 in the Uk and #13 in the US. It is my 7th favourite album of 2001.
I will never tire of this song!!!!

48 The Black Parade - My Chemical Romance
Its like MTV2 queuing up these vids, im sure I have actually seen that seque 100 times. But yes MCR's masterpiece and the only one of their records I really love and it gets better everytime I listen to it. This was their third album which was a #2 in the UK & US. It is now my 5th favourite album of 2005.

47 Employment - Kaiser Chiefs
In the 00s we did have a bit of a Brit Pop revival and it was never done better than on this album. It is anthem after anthem, the first side of this album is perfect indie dancefloor fillers. I did tire a bit with Kaiser Chiefs but I am really enjoying the early stuff again. This was their debut album which reached #2 in the UK. It narrowly beats MCR and is my 4th favourite of 2005.

46 Stay What You Are - Saves The Day
Now we have a classic emo record, this was a problem as the band took it off Spotify and I coudl only find 'At Your Funeral' and 'Freakish' on mp3. I did buy this album, I turned the place upside down never found it, soo rebought it for this only cost a few pounds but it was hard to find. Saves The Day are the band I always mention when peopel talk about emo, as what comes later isnt really emo. This is the sound nailed. A mix of melancholy and loud guitars, he sings like a choir boy while the riffs juat keep on coming. This was their third album and it reached #100 in the US, not their best placing but their biggest seller. It is my 6th favourite album of 2001.

45 The Rising - Bruce Springsteen
Its not all young bucks in this list. For me this was Bruce' s best album since 'Born In the USA'. this was his 12th album and his first recorded with the E Street Babd since that record funnily enough. Fueled by 9-11, it has some of his most powerful songs for many years. It was a charttopper in the UK & US. It is my 8th favourite album of 2002. If it wasn't for this album I doubt I would have mentored him in Haven Factor.

44 Elephant - The White Stripes
We have two White Stripes albums in the top 50 and it was very hard choosing which was my favourite, love them both but 'White Blood Cells' will just edge it overall. I think their 4th album is slightly weaker as there are a few more songs that annoy me than the previous album, it is very hard to love an entire White Stripes record. This was their highest selling album and it was a UK #1 and US #6. It is my 9th favourite album of 2003.

43 One By One - Foo Fighters
This might be a shock that there is no Foo Fighters in the top 40 but they havent made a 10/10 record in the 00s, this is one of their best though. The first 7 tracks are near perfect just falls away at the end. It was a UK #1 and US #3. It is the #7 album for 2002.

42 The Strangest Things - Longwave
One of two maybe forgotten bands left on the list, I absolutely adored this band and this album. They must be one of the most 2003 bands you could ever get. If you dont know them think of the middle ground between The Strokes and Interpol, yep thats how 2003 they are!! But they also have a bit of that post-Brit Pop sound of Snow Patrol as well. On top of that he has a pretty unique voice. They were just so anthemic. Feels weird raving about them when I give Foo Fighters a couple of lines but they didnt need any. This was their 2nd album, I have never heard the debut need to do that! The third album was pretty good but this was just something special. Also we have a rare thing on this list an album that didnt chart anywhere!!! A travesty! This is my 8th favourite album of 2003.

41 White Blood Cells - The White Stripes
Said theyd be close. This was their third album and for me it is by far their most consistent, even some of the experimental blues noodling is likeable on this record. This is of course the record that made them famous and helping to reshape the whole music scene at the time. It reached #55 in the Uk and #61 in the US. It is now my 5th favourite album of 2001.

40 Lost Souls - Doves
On another thread we were discussing where we discovered new music, well I can tell you about The Doves. I first heard 'Cedar Room' from a cover CD and I instantly loved it. It would eventually be a single but there was lots of great songs on this album, still my favourite. When Brot Pop and post -Brit POp were starting to fall away, The Doves came along and helpled save indi ein the doldrums of 2000. This was their debut album and reached #16 in the UK. It is my 5th favourite album of 2000.

39 blink-182 - blink-182
We now come to my favourite Blink 182 of the 00s, this was their fifth album and definitely their most accomplished. It is also their most consistent even if I still prefer 'Enema of The State' over it. It reached #3 in the US and just #22 in the UK. This album also includes my absolute favourite Blink song which is also a ballad, I know thats shocking. But it also shows why I like The Transplants so much as its all about Travis for me. It is my 7th favourite album of 2003.

38 Silent Alarm - Bloc Party
This record has been creeping back up my list, its one that would be even higher ten years ago but I am really getting back into it , helps that they have featured in games recently. It is my 3rd favourite album of 2005 and I think you could probably work out what the top 2 will be now. This was their debut album which reached #3 in the Uk and #114 in the US, thought it would have been bigger there.

37 Futures - Jimmy Eat World
Jimmy are one of the lucky bands to have more than one album in the top 40. This was their fifth album and sappy me again it contains my favourite Jimmy Eat World song which again is a ballad, what am I like! This is Jimmy at their most complete, it maybe not as exciting, angry or punky as 'Bleed American' but it is definitely emo with a capital E! It reached #6 in the US. It is my 5th favourite album of 2004.

36 Catalyst - New Found Glory
Now we come to one of the masterpieces of pop/punk. This was their fourth album and its just banger after banger. NFG have been my companion for nearly 20 years and have got me through some difficult times and this album especially! It reached #3 in the US and #27 in the UK. It is my 4th favourite album of 2004 and the best moment of my last 5 years was finally seeing them live performing the track below, never sung so loud!!!!
How early 00s is this video!!
