Yes, there are two very obvious absences so far and wouldn't you know it, both are by Scottish artists It'll be interesting to see which way round you have them...

...and I had the original CD of "I Believe In A Thing Called Love". I saw them advertised on ebay for quite a high price - not sure if anyone bought it at those prices but certainly I could have sold mine, and in 2003 I was quite hard-up too. There were a few other early releases I had by bands who made it big later, such was the nature of my music purchasing, and could probably have sold those too.
I actually felt at the time that the success of that Darkness album brought rock back into the mainstream as we saw a big wave of it the following year. Ok, we already had Muse and Coldplay but it just seemed to take off, and when we get into the 2003 chart topic that album will show up.

2 The Remote Part - Idlewild
Well this had to be the runner-up, I have grown to love this album more and more of the years. Some didn't like the direction Idlewild were headibg including Bob the bassist, he came to our club every week!!! But so what if Roddy took things down a more REM/Folk pop direction they were damn good at it and they still rocked on this album on tracks like 'A Modern Way of Letting Go' which is archetypal Idlewild. But for me it was the R.E.M influence, this is better than what R.E.M were doing themselves at this point by some way. This album was their most successful reaching #3 in the UK. It is my favourite album of 2002.

****My Number One Album Of The 00s****
Biffy Clyro - Puzzle
Really what else was it going to be, the band I have seen live more than any other think its 5 times maybe 6! 'Puzzle' was where everything came together for Biffy Clyro. Mainstream success of course but this album was everything we knew they were capable of. They get compared to Foo Fighters but they have never done a record like this, there is still enough prog, experiemental, hardcore weirdness mixed along with the hooks, riffs and huge choruses. They will probably be my favourite band of the 21st century forever now. Its still a shame that they havent crossed over to the US really. This album was #2 in the UK and sold over 300000 copies. 'Folding Stars' was my favourite Biffy song but thats now been replaced by 'Living is...' but they are both perfection and although this is my number onw album, I admit that not every track here is essential maybe Strokes and The Darkness beat it on the all killer no filler departamnet but as a whole record its still the best.

Cant argue too much with that top 5, i'd maybe swap the Strokes and Arcade Fire around and have Queens of the Stone Age in 7th
I'm super excited about seeing Idlewild in November, they are playing Remote Part in its entirety

Yep, that's exactly the top two I expected and in the right order, what do I win? Can't add much more to what you've said, both such amazing albums and probably the best by their respective bands although for me I am a fan of 'Only Revolutions' as well. 'The Remote Part' was such a formative album for me and I am still completely in love with 'In Remote Part/Scottish Fiction', one of the most beautiful album tracks ever! Enjoy Idlewild Daz! They were amazing when I saw them a few years ago. I'm pumped about seeing Biffy in November for the first time in over 10 years

Spookily it was my #2 of the 90s

Possibly I never heard any songs from Biffy Clyro and Idlewild. Will you start "90s worst songs" countdown in near future ?

Not sure re-listening to the worst songs of the 90s in order to order them into the ones you hate the most would be a constructive use of anyone's time, we only have so many free hours to enjoy music and these things take months to compile and half a year to countdown! Then there's the motivation 3 month in to keep going once you started ha

Next up will probably 80s albums but I will do those by year rather than the whole decade as my 80s album loves are very late 80s heavy so to give the early 80s a fair due will need to split them. I did the same with the singles. This will also introduce me to new music don’t expect it anytime soon though lol
2022 lists before that happens
