Vernon Kay: “We’ve got a packed show coming up for you, but first we’ll start with two tunes back to back that’ll really set you up for a good Wednesday”.
He then plays Fast Car by Tracy Chapman, a song about youthful hope being destroyed by inescapable cross-generational poverty, deprivation, poor quality employment, domestic violence and alcoholism. I didn’t stay in bed to hear the second one.

Pete Murray in his own words- Radio Two Sunday October 23 0000 "As part of 100 Years of the BBC, we celebrate the astonishing, ground-breaking career of Broadcaster and Actor Pete Murray - in his own words. Pete has just turned 97 and his career spanned over 70 of those years. Fellow DJ Steve Wright will be your host for the next hour as Pete relives some of the many highlights" Full details here, it mentions his time on Luxembourg. He also hosted Call in At Currys on Radio London for a few months. The BBC didn't renew his radio contract for an evening show he broadcast on at the time though he still appeared on Top of the Pops. Back on the Light Programme a few months later when he stopped doing Call in At Currys. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001d747Available on demand after broadcast, their Wogan In His Own Words programme on demand was an extended edition of that broadcast and made available for 6 months.

radiotoday.co.uk/2022/11/radio-2-and-6-music-on-the-move-as-bbc-closes-wogan-house/Radio 2 and 6 Music on the move as BBC closes Wogan House The BBC is to move out of Wogan House in London and Bridge House in Media City in a bid to reduce costs. It means BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music, along with other Wogan House-based departments, will be moving (primarily) into Broadcasting House. Meanwhile, those at Bridge House MediaCity, where BBC Children’s and Education and some BBC Sport and operations staff are based, will move to Quay House and Dock House next door. These moves are expected to be completed in the spring of 2024. Wogan House is located on the junction of Gildea Street and Great Portland Street near Broadcasting House and has been a BBC building since at least 1953. Originally named Western House, on 16 November 2016 the building was renamed Wogan House after Sir Terry Wogan who had died in January that year.

Ken Bruce has announced he is leaving Radio 2 He's off to Greatest Hits Radio He will be taking popmaster with him He will taking Mark Goodier's 10-1 slot so looks same slot different station He will start in April, and i expect that's where Steve Wright will be too www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-64305756Greatest Hits Radio is becoming the new Radio 2 with so many ex-R2 presenters like Simon Mayo and Alex Lester. And Paul Gambaccini's America's Greatest Hits. He still does POTP on Radio 2. Greatest Hits Radio has been my default station for a while now and will remain so.

Shame about Ken leaving. I cant think of listening to somebody else at the time slot on radio 2. Who is capable of taking that slot over. Scott Mills. Bloody hope not.
Gary Davies ...maybe but i dont want him to stop doing Sounds OF The 80s.

I listen to the Andy Crane show on Greatest Hits Radio from 10pm to 1am, very good show. Yes he is very good and often plays rarely heard gems too! I've noticed the Golden Hour feature both times of day churn up stuff that rarely gets played. Mark Goodier played She Wants You by Billie Piper the other week and remarked that it's the first time he's heard that in years.

So who will get the Radio 2 slot? Richard Osman (who has more clout than people realise) has suggested Liza Tarbuck on Twitter.

Names being mentioned so far (people already there) Dermot O'Leary Jo Whiley Trevor Nelson DJ Spoony Rylan Gary Davies (although i can see Greatest Hits Radio poaching him sooner or later)

O'Leary or Whiley would be safe choices. Trevor Nelson is OK. Spoony or Rylan don't seem like a good fit for that slot.

Hope to god it aint Jo Wiley or Dermot O'Leary or Vernon Kay or Scott Mills
Only Sara Cox or Gary Davies could carry this morning show.
And i hear they have Edith Bowman to fill in for a bit...Jesus.
No it has to be Sara or Gary or maybe OJ Borg otherwise Radio 2 has had it.
