Googling James concerts is also annoying, because it comes up with every artist that has the name James.

I've seen them 3 times now at various festivals, and they've never disappointed - although I'm still waiting to hear 'She's a star' Live!

When i saw them live they were going through a phase of refusing to play Sit Down even though it was a music festival of casuals and not a gig

If I'd gone to see them and they hadn't played 'Sit Down' I'd have been pretty annoyed to be fair. I get it's such a huge hit that it's eclipsed the rest of their oeuvre and they don't want to be known just for that, but I mean, come on.
The best gigs I've been to from older bands have been ones where they play all their big songs, funnily enough it's what a lot of us go to gigs for!

They did play Sit Down each time I've seen them, although once it was a slower version which wasn't really what most of the crowd wanted.
They are well known for not just playing their big hits, so the people I go with aren't as enthusiastic about them as I am.

I feel like there's a reason why some bands play big sell-out arena tours and festivals and also do smaller, intimate gigs which might give them an opportunity to showcase some lesser-known cuts. Playing big venues and festivals and deliberately avoiding your big hits just sounds like a surefire way to end up with a disappointed audience.

Lol yes, Feeder and Idlewild never disappoint, seen them both 5 or 6 times each, Manics too about 4 times and all 3 just play the hits
British Sea Power must be the worst set I've ever seen, they came on 30 minutes late because they were too busy setting the stage up with foliage then they proceeded to play The Spirit of St. Louis from a Japan-only EP, B-Side Mongk II and album tracks The Great Skua and All in It instead of most of their hits, they only played about 8 songs and the singles they did play they played hipster, improvised "jam" versions of them, the vocals were undistinguishable too. By mid set half the crowd had left

By mid set half the crowd had left Oh god, I remember seeing them supporting the Manics and they were terrible, we were extremely bored and couldn't work out a thing they were saying. I was actually going to mention The Front Bottoms but was beaten to it - my least favourite band name, and I purposefully don't listen to them because it's just excruciating to have them show up anywhere on my playlists! Also, speaking of bands you can't Google, has anyone mentioned A? I would run a search and check, but...

Going to see a band and them not playing your favourite songs: the worst offenders for me were Slow Club who had had two massive #1s in my chart and didn't play either of them.
When I saw Skinny Lister recently I thought they may have moved on from Down At Deptford Broadway as there were 3 more albums since then, but no, they recognise that was the highlight of their career and played all their NM #1s, they even had Beans On Toast join them on stage to do the Christmas one. And I'm obviously not alone in thinking "Six Whiskies" is their definitive track - they played it right at the end.

OH MY GOODNESS I can't believe I forgot A, that has to be the worst from a Googleability standpoint!

A are impossible to find on Spotify unless you search for a song title, not sure about on Google but I'm not sure searching for a Starbucks would help much either lol

Reading some of these responses, it's clear that there is more than one way to name a band badly. You can go with the 'hehehe, they'll NEVER be able to Google THIS!' approach Of course that wasn't an option pre-google, but it's sort of how Freur got their original sperm-crashing-into-a-wall name - they wanted people not to know the band, only to know the songs. There was a whole host of those acts about ten years ago, mostly witch house acts, but one that broke overground was ∆, who have had a number 1 album. or the 'so stupid sounding our fans will die inside when they mention us' approach That was the motivation of Genesis and Cosey in naming their art project Throbbing Gristle.

I've always thought Little Mix is a pretty sh*t name.

That was the motivation of Genesis and Cosey in naming their art project Throbbing Gristle. Ha, I was familiar with the name but had never actually heard anything by them. I always assumed they were a death metal band because of the name (a whole genre with deliberately awful names...)
