1981 Jimmy White (Runner-up - 1984, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994) I've been wanting Jimmy to win since 1981 didn't realise it was quite that long. I was soooo into Snooker back then. Is this the first year he hasn't even made it to the finals ? I feel out of touch (but the Haven sweepstake gives me a good reason to watch again now ) To belatedly answer your question, it's the second time Jimmy hasn't made it to the Crucible. The only other occasion was in 2001.

The rankings are going to be very close after the championship. Graeme Dott was provisional #1 coming into the championship but his first round exit means he has little chance of still being there after the tournament. Mathematically, I think any 1 of 7 players could end the season as World #1:- Dott, Higgins, Murphy, Ebdon, O'Sullivan, Robertson or Hendry. Higgins or Murphy would definitely be #1 if they won the tournament. For the other players, it would depend on how far the players above them in the rankings got.
At the other end of the top 16, Barry Hawkins' defeat against Fergal O'Brien means he will drop out of the top 16. Matthew Stevens probably needs to reach the semis to stand a chance of keeping his top 16 status. Joe Swail's win over Mark Williams should see him regain his top 16 place after an absence of several years. Ali Carter will probably keep his place if he beats Andy Hicks but would need to reach the quarter-finals to be absolutely certain. Steve Davis was in a bit of danger after losing to John Parrott, but with Ryan Day, Joe Perry and Barry Hawkins all losing in the first round too, he should be safe for another year. It's worth noting that if the new world champion is not in the top 16 after the tournament, he still qualifies automatically for all tournaments (as we saw with Shaun Murphy last season) and the world #16 loses his top 16 privileges as a result.

yayyy roonies winning 6-2 woopp go roonie i herd winner champion ship gets 10 thousnd points shrly be nuff bring roonie down 1/2 wins moooooo yooo nooooooooooooooooooo diigtyy upppppppp That's right. The winner of the tournament gets 10,000 ranking points. Coming into the tournament, Ronnie was nearly 7,000 points behind Graeme Dott. Looking at the current points, I think Ronnie would go to #1 if he won the tournament, due to him being in the same half of the draw as John Higgins.

He should do. Could be a very short afternoon session.
Should be a great match tonight. Robertson pulled back to 8-8 with Ronnie this morning.

Well, there's no counting Ronnie out but with Higgins in such good form it's not looking good for him.

It started yesterday with the second session this morning. The match finishes tonight. Where did you hear it was starting on Sunday?
