Nobody has really dominated the game since Stephen Hendry.
He may be #1 by default because he's not dominating the game anymore.

I actually prefer it this way although sometimes it's more exciting if there's a "big one to beat".

Hendry's returned to the #1 spot because of his consistency. Ronnie O'Sullivan is the "one to beat" but because he is so temperamental, there's always a chance of an early exit. Also, he's refusing to go to places like Malta and China now, denying him more ranking points.

Hendry has only won one tournament in the last two years but he's always a regular fixture in the later stages. He hasn't failed to make the quarter-finals of any tournament since last year's UK Championship.

The reason for the Sunday start is because it's only an 18-man tournament. They always finish on a Sunday (apart from the World Championship) so that's when they have to start it to get all the matches in but avoid gaps in the schedule.
