Yes, it starts on Saturday but because of the group format for the first round, it's going to be tricky working out who's playing when.

Ronnie O'Sullivan's match against Steve Davis today is scheduled for 3:30.
It should be online on the BBC website and on BBCi if it's not on BBC1.
The matches in the first round are shorter than normal due to the group stage format. It's best-of-5 (first to 3).

Whichever Ronnie it was that turned up, he won, and quite convincingly.

The round robin format is also going to be used in tennis ranking events from next year and personally I don't agree with it for 2 reasons. Firstly I don't see why ranking events should be fiddled with, and secondly I don't understand how a round robin format followed by the knockout stages can work in a tournament that only lasts 1 week. Ranking events should just be knockout tournaments, and if the round robin format has to be used, it should only be used in one off non-ranking events like the Masters for example. I think its far more suited to that tournament, and its only been used in tennis at the end of the year for a cup which the Top 8 players compete for.

Higgins is out! Beaten 5-2 by Mark King.
McManus and McCulloch are still playing their quarter-final.
With only one top 16 player in the final 5, we're on for a surprise winner.
McManus is the only player left who has won a ranking tournament. McCulloch was runner-up in the Grand Prix 2 years ago and Mark King was runner-up in the Irish Masters in 2004 and the Welsh Open in 1997. McManus' last tournament win was 10 years ago though he did reach the final of this tournament (when it was called the LG Cup) in 2002, losing to the now-retired Chris Small.

I didn't see the match but it sounds as if Robertson just didn't give Ronnie a chance and potted just about everything.
He's leading McManus 3-2 at the moment in the best-of-11 semi-final.
Cope v King tonight will be an interesting one... Cope has no experience at this stage of a major tournament. King has some but has a history of struggling to finish opponents off.
The winner of Robertson v McManus will be favourite to take the title.

Neil Robertson is through to the final after beating Alan McManus 6-2.
He is the first Australian to reach a ranking final for 16 years.
