Starts tomorrow morning in Barcelona.
After a miserable championships four years ago (just 1 gold medal and that came in the sprint relay), hopes are much higher for Great Britain this time around, especially with two world champions in the squad.
A minimum of five gold medals would be a reasonable haul I think. More could've been on the cards had it not been for injuries. Christine Ohuruogu, Jo Pavey and Tasher Danvers all miss out through injury, while Paula Radcliffe is pregnant.

I'll be avidly watching it and sky + everything. Can't wait. Always remember the 1986 euros in Stuttgart was the kick off for my addiction to athletics.

Always remember the 1986 euros in Stuttgart was the kick off for my addiction to athletics. That's the first one I remember as well! Brian Whittle running with one shoe!

Blue tracks are really in fashion, aren't they?

I hope they show some good shots of the stadium, as we've just been there! We are taping and will watch later

Personally, I wouldn't have Chambers anywhere near the team and why the h*ll are they giving that perpetual underachiever Lewis-Francis another chance?
If Jessica Ennis is anywhere near good from she should bring back the gold but Idowu could go either way.
On paper the two Brits are the fastest in tomight's 10,000m but can they perform in Championship race conditions?

Comfortable so far for the Brits. I wish Chambers would crawl under a rock too. Here is tonights timetable. Bit of a low key evening but the 10000m is always a cracking race at any level.

Are those European times? I think it might be an hour earlier here as I have it earmarked to turn on at 20:00 for the men's 10000m.

Yes, I have the BBC website up and running in the background.
I'd be disappointed if Mo Farah doesn't medal in the 10,000m tonight.

What a race it was as well, totally amazing, Mo Farrah ran it like it was just 100 metres and Chris Thimpson was awesome to get silver, as was the Italian who stuck to him, and got a deserved bronze, the poor Spaniard who went from 2nd to 4th lost out.

Mo Farah looked totally confident he was going to win the race last night. He looked more concerned with helping Thompson get silver.
Great race, and in one day we've already matched our gold medal tally from the last Euros.
Incidentally, did anyone hear van Comenee's comments yesterday about the 2012 Euros. With them taking place just a month before the Olympics, he says any track athletes selected for the Olympics won't compete at the Euros. It seems a rather silly decision to switch them to every two years...

Great to see some of the smaller nations taking part in these championships. A guy from Monaco just made it through to the semi-finals of the 800m. Slightly better than the athlete from Gibraltar yesterday, who'd been working seven days a week to save enough money to be able to take part in the championships, only to be disqualified from the 100m for a false start... I noticed a woman from San Marino in the 100m this morning, getting a PB with a time somewhere around 12.6.

Grerat start for GB - I really thought Thompson had blown his chance of silver and he was going to go backwards but he did great to come through and hold on.
Let's hope this kickstarts a rush of medals for us.

Nice morning's work for the GB athletes.
Greene and Williams through in the 400 hurdles, Rimmer in the 800 (which also saw a comedy DQ for the Dutch runner), Laura Turner in the 100, plus Kate Dennison qualifying for the pole vault final and Hatti Dean reaching the final of the steeplechase.

Silver in the 100m for Team GB behind Lemaitre as I anticipated, but it was Mark Lewis-Francis the fastest of four men in 10.18 seconds not Dwain Chambers (who was 5th) who claimed the silver.

How on earth do they decide who has got 2nd 3rd 4th 5th when they have the same time, and are all so very close! Good race by the Frenchmen, and did I miss the pole vault yesterday

They can time them down to 1/1000th of a second.
Men's pole vault qualifying is going on now. Women's final is tomorrow night.
