And some of the American media are presenting the medals table by how many medals in total were won not by the usual method of number of gold medals, so they came out on top when they were behind in gold medals The US has just overtaken China in gold medals - but they have GB behind Russia sports.yahoo.com/olympics/medals.htmlThat's the standard American way. Ever since halfway through the Beijing games when NBC noticed that China was ahead on golds and the USA ahead on medals...

But how many silvers is one gold worth? I'd say a ranking of 5-2-1 is closer to being accurate. One good reason for not using a points system 5-2-1 would certainly not have been fair in the women's triathlon.

The penultimate day of the Games is the busiest in terms of gold medals to be won, with 32 on offer and GB has a few chances to increase its total.
On the final night of action inside the Olympic Stadium, Mo Farah will attempt to complete the long distance double in the 5000m. There's an outside chance of a medal for the women's 4x400m relay team.
Following Nicola Adams's gold medal, GB's male boxers have reached three finals, with bantamweight Luke Campbell going in the first.
The introduction of 200m races has given GB some medal opportunities in canoe sprint. Ed McKeever set the fastest time in the K1 heats and was third-fastest in the semi-finals, while the K2 pair of Liam Heath and Jon Schofield qualified fifth-fastest for their final.
Tom Daley was seen by many as one of GB's biggest medal hopes but he scraped into the platform diving semi-final in 15th place and will need to improve to make the top 12 that will progress to the final.
GB's women's hockey team ended a 20-year wait for a medal by beating New Zealand in the bronze medal match and the men can follow in their footsteps when they take on Australia but they'll have to pick themselves up after their crushing 9-2 semi-final defeat to Holland. Victory would give the men a first medal since they won gold in 1988.
INFOSTRADA SPORTS' VIRTUAL MEDAL TABLE PREDICTION:
Gold: 3 - Mo Farah, Ed McKeever, Heath & Schofield
Silver: 3 - Luke Campbell, Tom Daley, women's Elliot 6m (eliminated)
Bronze: 2 - Tom Stalker (eliminated), men's 4x100m relay (eliminated)

Whilst I've enjoyed the Olympics from London - I'm glad it's finishing this weekend. For me, it's 'gone of the boil' in the last few days.
Hits 1. Super Saturday - GB win 6 gold medals, 3 in Athletics 2. Cycling - both Road and Track 3. Swimming - despite GB not winning gold 4. Triathlon - Good GB win and good event 5. Murray beating Federer
Misses 1. GB Footballers - no surprise in missing a penalty 2. GB Sprinters - no surprise in messing up in a relay 3. Tom Daly 4. Rebecca Adlington 5. Sailing - Zzzzzz

Youcan't regard a Gold and 4 Silvers as a failure but I'm somehow a bit disappointed with the Sailors. It may sound harsh but you might have expected a bit better on home waters.

I'm most disappointed with the swimmers. I honestly expected an improvement on last year.
I'm hoping that after today we could take Tom Daley off that list, but he just doesn't seem to be on form. A real shame.

Great start to penultimate day with Gold for Ed McKeever in Kayak.
Can't quite see us making the 30 Golds but there may be another couple in the Boxing and who knows in the Triathlon? But we will go over the 60 in total mark.
Quote of the Games from Derek Redmond re: 4x100m Brit relay team:
"They'll learn from this".
Yeah, sure.......................................
Lutalo Muhammad taking a Bronze medal in the Taetwondo does still NOT make him the right selection.
Daley diving a bit better this morning.
Word is that Perri Shakes-Drayton will be in the women's 4x400m - I still don't see them taking a medal. If they did manager a bronze it would be a great acievement.

Based on his first two dives, Tom looks good for the finals. Fingers crossed he keeps this up

Fantastic showing for Daley! He'll have to step up big time if he wants to dent the top three though.
Gutted for Mitchem, was really gunning for him to sneak in to the final.

Never wanted to hug someone more than Matthew just then Edit: That said, I wouldn't exactly have turned down a quick cuddle before that.

The 50 km walk is possible the most boring thing ever! How can it even be described as a walk race when they're all practically running?

Mexico are winning in the football final 2-0, I hope Brazil are better on their home turf for the World Cup 2014.
