Only 12 months after the last one, this weekend sees the start of this year's Africa Cup Of Nations (it has moved to odd-numbered years so as not to clash with the World Cup). It was originally due to be hosted in Libya, but was moved to South Africa.
Group A South Africa Angola Morocco Cape Verde
Group B Ghana Mali Niger Congo DR
Group C Zambia Nigeria Burkina Faso Ethiopia
Group D Cote d'Ivoire Tunisia Algeria Togo
Current odds to win: 15/8 Cote d'Ivoire 7/1 Ghana 9/1 South Africa 10/1 Nigeria 14/1 Zambia 15/1 Mali 16/1 Morocco 16/1 Algeria 20/1 Tunisia 50/1 Angola 50/1 Burkina Faso 66/1 Congo DR 70/1 Cape Verde 100/1 Togo 200/1 Niger 250/1 Ethiopia

Great to see Cape Verde in there. A few big names missing again (Cameroon, Senegal, Egypt). Ivory Coast are obvious favourites but DR Congo would be my dark horses...

Nice one. I saw there were live games on itv4 and eurosport, but cat find any highlight programmes, anyone know if there are any being showed? Prefer the highlights to watching it all live.

Wasn't this also because of the confeds cup as FIFA wouldn't allow Zambia in it so CAF arranged the next tournament of the African Cup of Nations instead in 2013?. I remember the qualification rounds being just play offs, rather than groups so the teams could be quickly confirmed.

It's going to be tough for Algeria to qualify from their group. I think Group D is effectively the 'group of death'

Is strange how it's suddenly one year after the last one. Think I'll watch the highlights on ITV iPlayer.

Not yet:
Group A South Africa 0-0 Cape Verde Angola 0-0 Morocco
Seems as though the highlights section on the ITV website might be quite short today!

Not bothering on watching those matches after seeing the scores, remeinds me of this time MOTD shown two "featured matches" and they were both nil-nil's!.

Haha!!, must have been on Al Jazeera that's from?, as their sports channel is covering the tournament for North Africa, which is the Arabic speaking area of the continent.
A few more games now with Zambia drawing 1-1 with Ephiopia in a game they really should have won, while Nigeria vs Burkina Faso the 1998 semi finalists, is now in progress.
