MY CHART JANUARY 25th 2015
1 NEW Bjork - Stonemilker AUDIO (Track 1)
  :x :x     These are all the emotions i went through this week after her new album turned up on iTunes only a week after it was announced because of a ridiculously early leak. What would i do? I had no money for another week. I wasn't planning for this. There's no official streams yet. I don't do illegal downloads. I don't even buy legal downloads if it's good enough for a CD purchase - which this is. I'm not buying it twice. Anyway after a fruitless Google search i eventually found an unofficial stream - which supposedly uses the same source as the original leak. A stream is OK for me as you're not downloading it therefore it's not yours to keep - and i can't see any download link at all on that site. Honestly why do people in the business insist on ruining the artists' plans? I'm grateful i can hear it but the whole joy of absorbing an album when you buy the CD has gone completely. You're not a fan if you're not keeping up with everyone else and everyone else wants it RIGHT FRIGGING NOW.
So, the song. Well it's a tear-jerking thing of beauty - a return to the beats and strings of the immortal Joga. The ominous precursor to her breakdown with former partner Matthew Barney - milking a stone being her unique take on the blood from a stone analogy. The only song on the album that sounds like an obvious single and would no doubt be a grat if she'd taken the Madonna option. Hence this album track makes my Hits chart despite not being earmarked for single/video/promo yet at all - nothing has, she's only just finalised the physical release date - 9th March for the album. See Album Chart.
2 1 Marina and The Diamonds - Immortal (4 weeks; peak #1) And Marina's next promo song was also leaked on Tuesday (a week before radio premiere).  She has said - somewhat in contrast to her past opinions on leaks - that she doesn't mind people listening but it's low quality so i've resisted. I would hope she's not so relaxed about leaked albums anymore as my whole UKMix Forum stance would be shot to pieces, and i certainly don't want another Bjork situation. :x
3 2 Moulettes - Glorious Year (Turn Of The Centuries) (3 weeks; peak #2) 4 5 Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do VIDEO (3 weeks; PEAK)
Clearly, the film is about "love". Not until near the end of the vid do you get a hint of the true nature of their "love". One wonders if Dougie "loves" her like this.
5 7 Charli XCX with Rita Ora - Doing It VIDEO (3 weeks; PEAK)
It's not a Telephone copy, it just uses the same influences. My God, she looks like Raquel Welch in that pic.
6 3 Man Without Country with White Sea - Laws Of Motion (6 weeks; peak #1) 7 4 Sia - Elastic Heart (12 weeks; peak #2) 8 NEW Monarchy - Dancing In The Corner VIDEO
One of their best yet - like a stoned slowed-down Scissor Sisters.
9 NEW Fiona Grey - Beauty Queen VIDEO
A friend of both Charli XCX and Chloe from Kitten (who appears in this video the "tart" - see Break The Rules). Fiona is a little more arty - this track (not a Foxes cover) is another vaguely LDR kind of light pop ballad.
10 6 Jessie Ware - You and I (Forever) (11 weeks; peak #2) 11 8 Holly Johnson - Heaven's Eyes (5 weeks; peak #2) 12 10 Alex Winston - Careless (6 weeks; peak #5) 13 NEW The Go! Team - The Scene Between VIDEO They've turned into The Polyphonic Spree! Pure hippy rock vibes! Great melody and happiness.
14 15 Taylor Swift - Style (2 weeks; PEAK) 15 19 Purity Ring - Begin Again (2 weeks; PEAK) 16 9 Pawws - Sugar / Outside / Give You Love / Just Be Kind (Sugar EP) (6 weeks; peak #4) 17 16 Krystal Klear with Yasmin - One Night Only (2 weeks; peak #16) 18 17 Errors - Lease Of Life (2 weeks; peak #17) 19 18 The Prodigy - Nasty (2 weeks; peak #18) 20 11 Najoua Belyzel - Que Sont-Ils Devenus? (What Have We Become?) (8 weeks; peak #4) 21 12 Shy For Shore - Steal My Car (5 weeks; peak #11) 22 13 Veronica Maggio - Latsas Som Det Regnar (Pretend That It's Raining) (5 weeks; peak #6) 23 NEW Mew - Satellites AUDIO STREAM Never thought they'd be even recording these days never mind being great again.
24 14 Princess Chelsea - No Church On Sunday (5 weeks; peak #10) 25 25 The Unthanks - Flutter (2 weeks; peak #25) 26 20 2:54 - Crest (2 weeks; peak #20) 27 21 Hillsong Young and Free - Energy (2 weeks; peak #21) 28 NEW Little Big Town - Girl Crush LIVE SESSION VIDEO Country group make girl-group homage with a complicated love triangle lyric.
29 NEW Aphex Twin - Diskhat1 AUDIO STREAM (Track 3) Not the best on the new mini-album but selected as a "single" by BBC 6 Music.
30 26 Charli XCX - Breaking Up (8 weeks; peak #6) Gets Chris Stein's seal of approval in latest Classic Pop magazine. Maybe it will eventually be a proper single.
31 24 Purity Ring - Push Pull (6 weeks; peak #14) Still no video for this despite Radio 1 playlisting. :-?
32 NEW Chicane with Lisa Gerrard - Orleans AUDIO STREAM VIDEO Lisa returns to trance. And Chicane is back to remind Above and Beyond he was there first.
33 NEW Giorgio Moroder with Kylie Minogue - Right Here, Right Now AUDIO STREAM VIDEO 34 NEW Thumpers with Jena Malone - Devotee VIDEO / Thumpers with Chloe Howl - Yolanda / Thumpers with Blood Red Shoes and Sun Club - Parachute / Thumpers - Together Now (Together EP) EP STREAM Outpeaks Jena's recent The Shoe hits.
35 NEW Saint Saviour - Bang VIDEO 36 34 Man Without Country - Sweet Harmony (6 weeks; peak #16) 37 22 Clare Maguire - Cosmic Dancer / Whenever You Want It / Shadows / House Of The Rising Sun (Live for Burberry EP) (2 weeks; peak #22) 38 RE Chvrches - Get Away VIDEO (7 weeks; peak #19) 39 28 The Unthanks - Mount The Air (10 weeks; peak #1) 40 29 Echosmith - Cool Kids (30 weeks; peak #1)

MY ALBUM CHART JANUARY 25th 2015
1 NEW Bjork - Vulnicura UNOFFICIAL STREAM
Co-produced by Arca, it's her best and most accessible album since Vespertine (though it's not in the same league) and most recalls the beats and strings of Homogenic while having the consistency of sound and feeling of Vespertine. Stonemilker aside, the other standouts are Mouth Mantra with its infectious skipping beats and the dark jazz frills of Notget. Elsewhere it's very dark and frank - particularly on the epic Black Lake - not actually her longest ever track, that is the 15 minute Prayer Of The Heart she did for John Tavener which i bought his album for back when i was an obsessive - where she accuses ex Matthew Barney of being so obsessed with his art he neglected his family. Ouch! Now if only i had a CD copy so i could appreciate the bass properly. There isn't even an Amazon CD pre-order AutoRip version (just a CD at present) :-? - though maybe it will be uploaded on Amazon digital soon so that can happen?
For most of the week this next album was #1... 2 NEW Man Without Country - Maximum Entropy SPOTIFY
As before (in fact a lot of it was already released on EPs). A pity they had no coverage bar the critics who know. The album never even made the iTunes top 1500 when i checked on release.
3 1 Olafur Arnalds - Broadchurch (OTVST - S1/S2) (3 weeks; peak #1) One Icelander knocks off another!
4 NEW Aphex Twin - Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt2 (MA) SPOTIFY It's a shorter set but it's more consistent and satisfying than Syro. Don't go looking for Pt1.
5 NEW Fiona Grey - Belladonna (MA) SPOTIFY
6 NEW Justin Hurwitz and Tim Simonec - Whiplash (OST) SPOTIFY
Fantastic film - Full Metal Drumkit, basically in which a young drum player gets a harsh run of lessons from a tyrant of a teacher (JK Simmons who is Oscar-bound). Hurwitz and Simonec provide most of the score though a different Spotify upload assigns some tracks to other artists (but misses off some from the stream). Never thought i'd be charting a drum-based instrumental jazz album!
7 NEW Above and Beyond - We Are All We Need SPOTIFY 8 12 Man Without Country - Foe (6 weeks; peak #2) 9 NEW Beatrice Eli - Die Another Day SPOTIFY 10 NEW Saor Patrol - Outlander SPOTIFY Scottish folk rock and pipes band who raced up iTunes after a UK TV appearance for upcoming Burns Night. Pronounced "shore" patrol - means freedom in Gaelic.
11 NEW The Feminine Complex - Livin' Love SPOTIFY All-female psychedelic band from the 60s who i saw Charli XCX rave about in an interview. The first half of the reissue is spruced up sessions, the second half raw demos of just the girls.
12 NEW The Waterboys - Modern Blues SPOTIFY 13 2 Sky Ferreira - Night Time, My Time (24 weeks; peak #1) 14 3 Beck - Morning Phase (11 weeks; peak #1) 15 NEW Johan Johannsson - The Theory Of Everything (OST) SPOTIFY Another great film - two amazing performances. Over-rated soundtrack, though - little more than a set of short cues with only a few standout themes. The third Icelander on the chart and the second soundtrack composer.
16 4 The Birthday Massacre - Superstition (11 weeks; peak #1) 17 5 Banks - Goddess (13 weeks; peak #1) 18 6 Blondie - Ghosts Of Download (13 weeks; peak #1) 19 8 The Jezabels - The Brink (9 weeks; peak #1) 20 9 Jessie Ware - Tough Love (13 weeks; peak #1) 21 10 Kitten - Kitten (13 weeks; peak #1) 22 11 Moulettes - Constellations (9 weeks; peak #1) 23 NEW Mark Ronson - Uptown Special SPOTIFY 24 7 Hans Zimmer - Interstellar (OST) (5 weeks; peak #1) 25 14 Missing Persons / Dale Bozzio - Missing In Action (11 weeks; peak #1)

MY CHART FEBRUARY 8th 2015 1 1 Bjork - Stonemilker FAN VIDEO (nudity) (3 weeks; peak #1) 3 WEEKS AT #1! So far the only video upload of this is that fan video by a professional director / dancer duo - probably more in keeping with Matthew Barney's aesthetic than Bjork's and def not safe for work. Here's a photo from her upcoming official video:

MY ALBUM CHART FEBRUARY 8th 2015
1 1 Bjork - Vulnicura UNOFFICIAL STREAM (3 weeks; peak #1) 3 WEEKS AT #1!
2 2 Team Me - Blind As Night (2 weeks; peak #2) 3 NEW John Carpenter with Alan Howarth - Escape From New York (OST) SPOTIFY My fave of his films that he scored - he didn't score The Thing, sadly. Expanded edition linked with Kurt Russell dialogue and extra tracks.
4 3 Team Me - To The Treetops! (2 weeks; peak #3) 5 NEW John Carpenter - The Fog (OST) SPOTIFY Another expanded edition.
6 NEW John Carpenter - Halloween (OST) SPOTIFY Variations on his most well known classic theme.
7 NEW John Carpenter - John Carpenter's Lost Themes SPOTIFY
His surprise hit UK album is his first non-film release - the title is not strictly true, they are not "lost" themes. Parts of this sound like Goblin the 70s band who also did horror scores. Although it is referred to as simply Lost Themes i included his name as that's what it says on the sleeve (though i wouldn't do it for his others as i think putting his name above and part of a film title like he does is just egotism that i won't tolerate  ). EDIT: the digital version features a set of remixes by - among others - Blanck Mass, JG Thirlwell and Zola Jesus who also provides a vocal on her remix of Night.
8 4 Airling - Love Gracefully (MA) (2 weeks; peak #4) 9 NEW John Carpenter - Assault On Precinct 13 (OST) SPOTIFY The theme from this was later remixed and became a club hit and was also used in the UK top 20 hit Hardcore Uproar by Together.
10 5 Team Me - Female Lead (MA) (2 weeks; peak #5) 11 6 Man Without Country - Maximum Entropy (3 weeks; peak #2) 12 9 Aphex Twin - Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt2 (MA) (3 weeks; peak #4) 13 10 Fiona Grey - Belladonna (MA) (3 weeks; peak #5) 14 11 Meghan Trainor - Title (2 weeks; peak #11) 15 7 Olafur Arnalds - Broadchurch (OTVST - S1/S2) (5 weeks; peak #1) 16 8 Team Me - EP (MA) (2 weeks; peak #8) 17 12 Man Without Country - Foe (8 weeks; peak #2) 18 14 Justin Hurwitz and Tim Simonec - Whiplash (OST) (3 weeks; peak #6) 19 16 Glowbug - Headhunters (2 weeks; peak #16) 20 RE Kitten - Kitten (14 weeks; peak #1)

MY CHART FEBRUARY 15th 2015
1 30 Taylor Swift - Style VIDEO (5 weeks; PEAK)
For the last month i was charting a slower Del Rey-ish version that Era linked on his YE chart (since removed) having forgotten that this was a synth pop delight.  Having only heard the album twice i really need to get the CD! This now becomes her 4th top 5 in a row and her second #1 after Eyes Open. This in the week she wound up uber-penis Kanye West big time! See post. I've got two coloured eyes just like the guy in this video (though one of mine is a brown tint in a green eye rather than a full different colour).
2 2 Jessie Ware - Champagne Kisses VIDEO (3 weeks; peak #2)
Rather odd video - perhaps inspired by Grace Jones (the long neck!)?
3 3 Marina and The Diamonds - I'm A Ruin (3 weeks; peak #3) Her album leaked.   And she's having to be diplomatically polite to so-called fans on Twitter - in contrast to past strong feelings on the matter. Well, i'm not budging from my stance on this - unless she does a Bjork and in which case i'll hunt a stream but until then anyone that calls themselves a fan and says "i've pre-ordered it so that's OK" is not a fan because she wants you to hear it when it is released, by supporting sites that hold it illegally you are supporting the piracy "industry". It's people like you they rely on. It's why they have to resort to releasing 5 or 6 instant grat tracks and then you moan about them not charting properly because only genuine sales are counted - well blame the illegal downloaders!! blame the leakers!!    Now why aren't these people in the record pressing plants - or wherever they come from - being held to account for these leaks? Why should Bjork have to roll over and accept it and release something way before she was ready? For this reason also i'm dropping the stream links for Bjork until she provides official ones (it's ridiculous that she has an album out to buy and there's sill no YouTube video/audio link but that's not her fault)...
4 1 Bjork - Stonemilker (4 weeks; peak #1) 5 7 Charli XCX with Rita Ora - Doing It (6 weeks; peak #5) 6 6 Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do (6 weeks; peak #4) 7 4 Team Me - Blind As Night / The All Time High (3 weeks; peak #4) 8 5 Marina and The Diamonds - Immortal (7 weeks; peak #1) 9 9 The Prodigy with Martina Topley-Bird - The Day Is My Enemy (3 weeks; peak #9) 10 8 Monarchy - Dancing In The Corner (4 weeks; peak #8) 11 17 Kitten - Like A Stranger (18 weeks; peak #1) 12 NEW The War On Drugs - An Ocean In Between The Waves LIVE SESSION VIDEO Best single since Under The Pressure (they've not really represented the album well).
13 10 Erasure - Sacred (3 weeks; peak #10) 14 NEW Meadowlark - Eyes Wide (Dual EP) AUDIO STREAM Full EP soon.
15 NEW LoneLady - Bunkerpop AUDIO STREAM Best single in a while from one-woman alt act.
16 NEW Sia - Salted Wound AUDIO STREAM VIDEO From Fifty Shades Of Grey OST - was a grat track but i wasn't convinced till i heard the album.
17 NEW Susanne Sundfor - Delirious AUDIO STREAM VIDEO 18 11 Sia - Elastic Heart (15 weeks; peak #2) 19 12 Fiona Grey - Beauty Queen (4 weeks; peak #9) 20 14 Team Me - F Is For Faker (4 weeks; peak #14) 21 NEW Say Lou Lou - Nothing But A Heartbeat AUDIO 22 NEW Kid Astray - Taking You With Me AUDIO / Back To The Ordinary AUDIO STREAM VIDEO / No Easy Way Out (Back To The Ordinary EP) EP STREAM Norwegian pop group produced by Joseph Cross (he of Hurts fame and now ex member of Performance / Kiss In Cities  ). Bravo for the great speech against the illegal downloading. I hate it so much as you. In Russia we lost last music shop in 2014, it's really weird to live in a city with 11 millions population and didn't have the ability to buy legal music on CDs.
Legal music market always was very small in Russia, but at last I could buy something, mostly worldwide music stars, but even from them not every album was available. For simple it's not easy to find early Kylie albums, first from Taylor and near everything from Blondie (exclude "Parallel Lines" and greatest hits compilations) e.t.c. On this moment I own 176 CDs (164 Albums, 7 Singles, 5 Eurovision compilations). It's 85-90 % from my favourite music, which was allowed in our shops, mostly missed 2001-2003 period, when cassettes became dead and CD prices were huge.
Sadly nobody didn't care about legal music in Russia, even my sister called me "mad person", because I spent the money on music, when near everything is available on torrents.

19 12 The War On Drugs - An Ocean In Between The Waves (2 weeks; peak #12) 20 NEW Pussy Riot with Richard Hell, Nick Zinner, Andrew Wyatt, The Jack Wood and Scofferlane - I Can't Breathe VIDEO / ALTERNATIVE VIDEO
First English tune by Russian activists is relating the sorry true story of Eric Garner whom the police choked to death last year. Punk legend Richard Hell is brought out of retirement to narrate Garner's last words and Zinner from Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Miike Snow's Andrew Wyatt are also involved. The first video features the two women being buried alive and is a comment on free speech and political suppression.

MY ALBUM CHART FEBRUARY 22nd 2015
1 NEW Charli XCX - Sucker SPOTIFY (explicit version, there's a "clean" stream, too)
^That is the actual CD cover - her name only appears at the top of the download version yet Amazon lists this like it's the CD. As i said in the 2014 YE lists she is the best mainstream international popstar the UK has produced in decades. Why people settle for mediocrity and blandness like Sam Smith and George Ezra is beyond me. Remember when pop music was vibrant and exciting (the 80s and 90s?). Charli does (OK, she's 22 but she got into it all later!). Pop, punk, bubblegum, rock n roll, rave, garage rock - it's all here - UK exclusive So Over You (a huge pop blast co-composed by - of all people! - Naughty Boy ) - has to be a single (after Need Ur Luv?). Other collaborators include Vampire Weekend's Rostam, Weezer's Rivers Cuomo, Miike Snow's Andrew Wyatt (him again!) on the epic Die Tonight and Greg Kurstin as well as her go-to guy Patrick Berger. It's not perfect but it gives me life. And her manager is called David Bianchi (great surname!) . She's top 20 bound in UK so the Rita Ora Doing It rush-record clearly worked for her label (it got to 28 in US and 53 in Australia two months ago). Graham Norton and the NME can f off the way they were both rude to her recently in interviews - like i said some people can't appreciate real natural popstars   - her response to any naysayers is clear in the f-bomb strewn title track (censored with bleeps in the US  - Ha! if you downloaded this version illegally then YOU'RE the suckers!) Patience prevails - she left the best for her homeland - we get perky end track Red Balloon also (which sounds much better blasting out of a CD player than on a stream) so that's THREE exclusives.
2 NEW Susanne Sundfor - Ten Love Songs SPOTIFY
Stunning album - finally they found music to suit her great voice. Drama, passion, synths, organs, harps, strings.
3 3 Team Me - Blind As Night (4 weeks; peak #2) 4 1 The Do - Shake, Shook, Shaken (2 weeks; peak #1) 5 NEW A Place To Bury Strangers - Transfixiation SPOTIFY I own several of their releases on CD - i won't be rushing to get this watered down album.
6 2 Bjork - Vulnicura (5 weeks; peak #1) 7 7 Team Me - To The Treetops! (4 weeks; peak #3) 8 9 Kitten - Kitten (16 weeks; peak #1) 9 RE The War On Drugs - Lost In The Dream (5 weeks; peak #2) 10 5 The Unthanks - Mount The Air (2 weeks; peak #5) 11 10 Beck - Morning Phase (14 weeks; peak #1) 12 NEW Ibeyi - Ibeyi SPOTIFY 13 8 Pushka - Pushka (MA) (2 weeks; peak #8) 14 4 John Carpenter with Alan Howarth - Escape From New York (OST) (3 weeks; peak #3) 15 11 Meghan Trainor - Title (4 weeks; peak #11) 16 14 Man Without Country - Maximum Entropy (5 weeks; peak #2) 17 15 John Carpenter - The Fog (OST) (3 weeks; peak #5) 18 12 Airling - Love Gracefully (MA) (4 weeks; peak #4) 19 13 Team Me - Female Lead (MA) (4 weeks; peak #5) 20 6 Various Artists - Fifty Shades Of Grey (OST) (2 weeks; peak #6)

MY CHART MARCH 1st 2015
1 NEW Spector - All The Sad Young Men VIDEO
Remember this band? They had a top 20 UK album and acres of positive press coverage. This is their best yet (and most synthtastic).
2 2 Charli XCX - Gold Coins LIVE VIDEO (7 weeks; peak #2)
 3 1 Charli XCX - Need Ur Luv (2 weeks; peak #1) 4 NEW Kelly Clarkson - Take You High AUDIO STREAM
One of several grat tracks out this week and two that i'm charting - both better than single Heartbeat Song. This is euphoric midtempo dance-pop.
5 6 Taylor Swift - Style (7 weeks; peak #1)
Kanye hits Swifty's g spot! The world is a much more interesting place with these two!
6 NEW All Tvvins - Thank You AUDIO STREAM VIDEO
Irish duo - from two indie bands, including The Cast Of Cheers. Now embracing pop and straight on to XFM's Daytime Playlist with Radio 1 supporting as well. I think it's pronounced All Twins. It's a bit like the best pop moments on The 1975's album - great bass and drums and eighties soundtrack vibe.
7 5 Charli XCX - Breaking Up (13 weeks; peak #5) 8 3 Charli XCX - Boom Clap (24 weeks; peak #1) 9 4 Charli XCX - London Queen (8 weeks; peak #2) 10 RE Clare Maguire - Boomerang / NEW Don't Mess Me Around VIDEO / Dream Big / Sherlock (Don't Mess Me Around EP) EP STREAM (6 weeks; peak #3)
So demo Boomerang now has strings and appears on this EP - the lead song is great but not as good as Boomerang and overall it's lacking the spark she had before.
11 12 Marina and The Diamonds - I'm A Ruin (5 weeks; peak #3) 12 10 Jessie Ware - Champagne Kisses (5 weeks; peak #2) 13 7 Charli XCX with Rita Ora - Doing It (8 weeks; peak #5) 14 9 Susanne Sundfor - Fade Away (7 weeks; peak #9) 15 8 Charli XCX - Break The Rules (11 weeks; peak #2) 16 11 Susanne Sundfor - Delirious (3 weeks; peak #11) 17 14 Team Me - Blind As Night / The All Time High (5 weeks; peak #4) 18 NEW Dutch Uncles - Decided Knowledge VIDEO More of that bass-driven eighties synth sound. They've sent a puppet to lip-sync their video!

30 22 Meadowlark - Eyes Wide (Dual EP) (3 weeks; peak #14) 31 NEW Priest - The Game AUDIO STREAM VIDEO Formerly X Priest X.
32 23 Sia - Salted Wound (3 weeks; peak #16) 33 24 LoneLady - Bunkerpop (3 weeks; peak #15) 34 25 Cherry Ghost - Finally (2 weeks; peak #25) 35 NEW Kelly Clarkson - Invincible AUDIO STREAM VIDEO 36 NEW Emile Haynie with Lykke Li and Romy - Come Find Me AUDIO STREAM VIDEO Haynie is a producer known for work with Eminem and Lana Del Rey. This is from his first artist album and is the clear highlight of the set. Romy is the singular credit for The XX's Romy Madley Croft.
37 NEW Wolf Alice - Giant Peach LIVE SESSION VIDEO 38 NEW Jack Garratt - Chemical VIDEO 39 NEW The Pop Group - Mad Truth VIDEO (flashing imagery) Vid directed by Asia Argento (actress and daughter of horror director Dario).

This new video makes their EP re-enter (Vultures was once the lead credit here). 52 41 Ed Sheeran and Rudimental - Bloodstream (3 weeks; peak #27) 53 38 Kid Astray - Taking You With Me / Back To The Ordinary / No Easy Way Out (Back To The Ordinary EP) (3 weeks; peak #22) 54 NEW Jessie Ware - Meet Me In The Middle VIDEO Fifty Shades song now has a video.

58 42 Death Cab For Cutie - Black Sun (5 weeks; peak #28) 59 43 Charlotte OC - If My House Was Burning (2 weeks; peak #43) 60 NEW The Wombats - Greek Tragedy VIDEO (violence) April Pearson from Skins as a demented stalker!
--------------------------------------------
MY ALBUM CHART MARCH 1st 2015
1 1 Charli XCX - Sucker (2 weeks; peak #1) SPOTIFY
*i figured this was more forum-friendly than her BRITs red carpet outfit (cleavage rather than sideboob!)*
2 2 Susanne Sundfor - Ten Love Songs (2 weeks; peak #2) 3 3 Team Me - Blind As Night (5 weeks; peak #2) 3 WEEKS AT #3! 4 4 The Do - Shake, Shook, Shaken (3 weeks; peak #1) 5 NEW The Pop Group - Citizen Zombie SPOTIFY
6 NEW Dutch Uncles - O Shudder SPOTIFY 7 NEW Little Comets - In Search Of Elusive Little Comets SPOTIFY 8 NEW Little Comets - Hope Is Just A State Of Mind SPOTIFY This group seem to be one of the first beneficiaries of streaming being added to UK album charts as the new self-released album has had a boost during the midweeks. Their debut albums charts one place higher here.

(5 weeks; peak #3) 10 8 Kitten - Kitten (17 weeks; peak #1) 11 9 The War On Drugs - Lost In The Dream (6 weeks; peak #2) 12 11 Beck - Morning Phase (15 weeks; peak #1) 13 10 The Unthanks - Mount The Air (3 weeks; peak #5) 14 NEW Little Comets - Life Is Elsewhere SPOTIFY 15 5 A Place To Bury Strangers - Transfixiation (2 weeks; peak #5) 16 NEW The Pop Group - Y SPOTIFY 1979 debut (the 1980 second album is still out of print). MY CHART MARCH 8th 2015
1 NEW Meg Myers - Sorry AUDIO STREAM VIDEO
UKMix Sound Of 2015 shortlisted artist releases brand new single. Has an electronic feel not heard on her angst-rock before but is just as stunning.
2 1 Spector - All The Sad Young Men VIDEO (2 weeks; peak #1) Now what's the point in this group returning if radio ignores you? Once regarded as a Next Big Thing but now Radio 1, 2, 6 and XFM are all not bothering to playlist them. How quick they forget. Even Glasvegas weren't shunned this quickly. Especially odd as it's their most commercial sounding song yet - if it was The Killers it would be playlisted. Zane Lowe had it as a Hottest Record recently before he left for Apple but that didn't help.
3 NEW Marina and The Diamonds - Forget VIDEO
Her album has been brought forward to March 16th because of the leak, which means i'll be getting the CD same week as Bjork's. More great pop and a slinky sexy video (those legs!). I love the way she says "tortoise"! This was briefly #1 on US iTunes yet here she can't get top ten because - RADIO ARE IGNORING HER.
4 4 Kelly Clarkson - Take You High YOUTUBE AUDIO STREAM VIDEO (2 weeks; peak #4) 5 3 Charli XCX - Need Ur Luv (3 weeks; peak #1) 6 5 Taylor Swift - Style (8 weeks; peak #1) 7 6 All Tvvins - Thank You (2 weeks; peak #6) 8 10 Clare Maguire - Boomerang YOUTUBE AUDIO STREAM VIDEO (language) / Don't Mess Me Around / Dream Big / Sherlock (Don't Mess Me Around EP) (7 weeks; peak #3) 9 11 Marina and The Diamonds - I'm A Ruin (6 weeks; peak #3) 10 NEW Torche - Minions AUDIO STREAM VIDEO Stoner rock / sludge metal. More here and on Albums.

29 24 Monarchy - Dancing In The Corner (7 weeks; peak #8) 30 NEW Dorothy's Legs - 4am AUDIO STREAM VIDEO 31 26 The War On Drugs - An Ocean In Between The Waves (4 weeks; peak #12) 32 27 Pussy Riot with Richard Hell, Nick Zinner, Andrew Wyatt, The Jack Wood and Scofferlane - I Can't Breathe (3 weeks; peak #20) 33 28 Erasure - Sacred (6 weeks; peak #10) 34 RE Purity Ring - Push Pull (8 weeks; peak #14) 35 NEW Electro Velvet - Still In Love VIDEO Just announced - as i was compiling this chart! - as UK's ESC entry - a curious retro-modern track that is great fun and certainly different. Caro Emerald fans would love it though it's getting mixed opinions at this very early stage.
36 21 Bjork - Stonemilker (7 weeks; peak #1) 37 25 Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do (9 weeks; peak #4) 38 15 Charli XCX - Break The Rules (12 weeks; peak #2) 39 30 Meadowlark - Eyes Wide (Dual EP) (4 weeks; peak #14) 40 29 Blancmange - The Fall (2 weeks; peak #29) 41 31 Priest - The Game (2 weeks; peak #31) 42 NEW Laces - Love Me Sober AUDIO STREAM VIDEO Artist formerly known as Charlotte Sometimes.
43 NEW Giant Drag - Garbage Heart VIDEO (language) Loved this duo ten/nine years ago. Was reminded of them by a Charli XCX interview / mix for radio. The second album finally came out in 2013 on Bandcamp only (and with no stream  ). Many of the songs had lo-fi videos made by Annie Hardy and this one is the best of those songs.
44 37 Wolf Alice - Giant Peach (2 weeks; peak #37) 45 46 Marina and The Diamonds - Immortal (10 weeks; peak #1) 46 32 Sia - Salted Wound (4 weeks; peak #16) 47 33 LoneLady - Bunkerpop VIDEO (4 weeks; peak #15) 48 RE Marina and The Diamonds - Froot LYRIC VIDEO (album version) (12 weeks; peak #5) Third different YouTube upload for the song.

MY CHART MARCH 15th 2015
1 NEW East India Youth - Carousel VIDEO
William Boyd is East India Youth. I wasn't fussed on what i heard before but this is stunning. An epic ballad with a soaring keyboard melody reminiscent of Badalamenti or Eno.
2 1 Meg Myers - Sorry AUDIO STREAM VIDEO (2 weeks; peak #1) 3 2 Spector - All The Sad Young Men VIDEO (3 weeks; peak #1) 4 NEW Charli XCX - Famous AUDIO / LIVE VIDEO
Need Ur Luv is removed for now as this has been confirmed as her new single/video. This is a Greg Kurstin tune and is a good halfway point between the bubblegum and indie styles she has.
5 NEW East India Youth - Turn Away AUDIO STREAM VIDEO A grat track from upcoming album and a synth-pop delight.
6 NEW Bjork - Lionsong VIDEO
Her first full video released to the public for Vulnicura and the central image of the album. More amazing visuals from Inez and Vinoodh.
7 NEW Marina and The Diamonds - Blue AUDIO STREAM VIDEO This was to be the final "Froot" (grat) until the album was brought forward. I assume there'll still be a video so i'm charting it.
8 3 Marina and The Diamonds - Forget (2 weeks; peak #3) 9 4 Kelly Clarkson - Take You High (3 weeks; peak #4) 10 NEW Blanck Mass - Dead Format AUDIO STREAM VIDEO The F**k Buttons member who soundtracked the London Olympics returns with a slice of brutality.

--------------------------------------------------
MY ALBUM CHART MARCH 15th 2015
1 NEW Northern Kind - Fifty Three Degrees North SPOTIFY Synth duo that i followed on MySpace years back but never got round to buying. This is the 2007 debut. The female half has now left and Matt has a different woman on vocals - a singer with Electrobelle who charted on my top 40 in 2007. They are performing as Dancing With Ruby. Check out that Yazoo-ish Seen The Light on this debut.
2 1 Charli XCX - Sucker (4 weeks; peak #1) NOTE: i'm not sure why last week's pic now shows as a TM Racing photo.
3 2 Susanne Sundfor - Ten Love Songs (4 weeks; peak #2) 4 NEW Laura Welsh - Soft Control SPOTIFY
Another "next big thing" that radio has let down - but this time they never even gave the FIRST album a chance! And leaving off Undiscovered as a Fifty Shades exclusive really was not a good idea.
5 3 Purity Ring - Another Eternity (2 weeks; peak #3) 6 RE Bjork - Vulnicura (7 weeks; peak #1) I have the Amazon digital AutoRip after pre-ordering the CD digipack. There won't be a stream for some time, it seems.
7 4 Torche - Restarter (2 weeks; peak #4) 8 NEW Monarchy - Around The Sun SPOTIFY
The (hard to find physically) debut by synth duo.
9 NEW Rebecca Ferguson - Lady Sings The Blues SPOTIFY
Out goes the pop and a straight blues / jazz album (Billie Holiday and more are covered) brings out the real Rebecca Ferguson. Now all she should do is channel this into original music.
10 NEW Fyfe - Control SPOTIFY
Half great Gotye-ish alt-pop, half slightly bland. Two "Control" albums in the same week!
11 NEW Northern Kind - Credible Sexy Unit SPOTIFY 12 NEW Monarchy - Abnocto SPOTIFY The new album.
13 NEW East India Youth - Total Strife Forever SPOTIFY May have got a Mercury nod and made UK 100 but there's little here on this largely instrumental electronic set that hasn't been done better before.
14 NEW Howard Jones - Engage STREAM I wanted to check Marc Almond and Jimmy Somerville but neither are on stream yet. This is half great, half dull.
15 5 Torche - Torche (2 weeks; peak #5) 16 NEW Spector - Enjoy It While It Lasts SPOTIFY The 2012 debut. I charted Grey Shirt and Tie in my top 15 and Celestine in my top 60.
17 8 Team Me - Blind As Night (7 weeks; peak #2) 18 6 Purity Ring - Shrines (2 weeks; peak #6) 19 NEW Northern Kind - Wired SPOTIFY 20 7 Torche - Meanderthal (2 weeks; peak #7) 21 11 Nikki Jumper - Sinful Youth (MA) (2 weeks; peak #11) 22 10 The Do - Shake, Shook, Shaken (5 weeks; peak #1) 23 9 Torche - Harmonicraft (2 weeks; peak #9) 24 14 The Pop Group - Citizen Zombie (3 weeks; peak #5) 25 15 Dutch Uncles - O Shudder (3 weeks; peak #6) 26 16 Team Me - To The Treetops! (7 weeks; peak #3) 27 18 Kitten - Kitten (19 weeks; peak #1) 28 12 Torche - In Return (MA) (2 weeks; peak #12) 29 13 Torche - Songs For Singles (MA) (2 weeks; peak #13) 30 NEW Madonna - Rebel Heart SPOTIFY Some of it is good, some of it is awful. Not even the involvement of Kanye or Brit girls Delilah and Natalia Kills can stop this feeling tired, hackneyed and out of step. All the self-referencing is boring and laughable (the Natalia co-write Holy Water is the kind of thing N Kills can get away with on her own material because she's budding and a genuine rebel - Madge has long gone past the status of shocking people).

19 NEW Bjork - Family (video edit) VIDEO To introduce the digipack cover there's this fantastic video. Had it been the full length album version - of which the middle part where the beat comes in like a dagger to the heart is incredible on a CD system - it would be top ten.
20 11 Taylor Swift - Style (10 weeks; peak #1) 21 NEW Billy Idol - Save Me Now AUDIO STREAM VIDEO Clear album standout now playlisted by Radio 2.
22 NEW Ruby Frost - Comeback Queen VIDEO Third and biggest hit for Kiwi pop girl (coincidentally a judge on X Factor NZ first season - see Natalia Kills' entry, it was that "bullying judge" scandal (and she was) that reminded me to check Ruby again.)
23 18 Ella Henderson - Mirror Man (2 weeks; peak #18) 24 RE Natalia Kills - Saturday Night (9 weeks; peak #12) 25 RE Marina and The Diamonds - Happy (4 weeks; peak #13) Really weird to start the album with this - both musically and lyrically.

35 NEW Sleaford Mods - A Little Ditty AUDIO (language) 36 NEW The Do - Miracles (Back In Time) LYRIC VIDEO 37 NEW Yoko Ono and Antony - I Love You, Earth AUDIO Part of a series of collab singles by Yoko is this rework of her mid-80s ballad.
38 NEW Alun Parry - Sack Esther McVey VIDEO Free download as part of a campaign for the employment minister to lose her seat in the Wirral in May's general election. The treatment of the unemployed and cuts and sanctions targeting the vulnerable like the disabled and the already disadvantaged are no good and she should pay for it.
39 NEW Madonna - Ghosttown AUDIO STREAM VIDEO Best song on the album. And a conjoined word so you don't confuse it with any other song of that name.
40 NEW Miss 600 - Ruby Red VIDEO This duo should have gone for Eurovision - at least they are known in parts of Europe unlike Electro Velvet.
41 19 Clare Maguire - Boomerang / Don't Mess Me Around / Dream Big / Sherlock (Don't Mess Me Around EP) (9 weeks; peak #3) 42 23 Susanne Sundfor - Delirious (6 weeks; peak #11) 43 24 Blancmange - Paddington (2 weeks; peak #24) 44 NEW Kaley Marie - Wild West / Datin' Her Man / Boots On / Nothin' On Me (Get Your Boots On EP) EP STREAM Country singer.

MY ALBUM CHART MARCH 29th 2015
1 1 Marina and The Diamonds - Froot (2 weeks; peak #1)
I wanted to do a full review but as half the album i already talked about it seemed pointless to go over it again. It really doesn't sequence as well as the previous two. I've already said Happy is a weird choice for a starter both lyrically and musically (it sounds like a closer - Immortal should have been placed earlier in the run though that triumvirate of Weeds, Savages and Immortal is perfect). I know many think Froot the song is amazing but it's a lesser song for me that has a relatively small attempt at a chorus and the disco backing is too thin. Gold is a great lilting pop ballad and Solitaire is a nice slower track though again not pushing the boat out in any way. Better Than That reminds me of Blondie with their nods to sixties girlgroup techniques merged with guitar pop . Can't Pin Me Down is a little bit ordinary and formulaic even if she does use an MF bomb against her detractors. That and Weeds is like she took tips from working with hit-makers on Electra Heart as they are both essentially Katy Perry / Rihanna songs with their nods to commercial styles (Weeds even has a guitar solo on it! ). Weeds itself is a fantastic power ballad with one of her best ever lyrics - i can't believe the metaphor isn't more commonly used! She follows Weeds with another outstanding lyric on Savages which questions recent world atrocities and asks if such things are an inevitable consequence of our DNA. Immortal closes and you know how great that is. She uses the phrases "human" or "human race" four times in the space of the last four songs! So, yes, it could have been sequenced better to avoid this repetition. Even if the songs are linked thematically it looks lazy to see such things.
David Kosten (Bat For Lashes ) co-produced with Marina and musicians include Fyfe Dangerfield (piano on Happy / guitar on Better Than That), Jason Cooper from The Cure on drums and members of Everything Everything on bass and guitar (it's a shame they can get playlisted but Marina can't  ). Some fans may disagree but for me it's a step down in quality from EH though it MAY be better than TFJ. 4/5.
2 2 Bjork - Vulnicura (9 weeks; peak #1)
No full review but i will say her voice seems low in the mix compared to previous and the beats are much less thudding. As with Marina's album i've noticed CDs are now quieter than before - the "loudness wars" mean anything that came out between the mid-nineties and two or three years ago now would have to be remastered to sound less loud (it used to be the opposite problem - my CD player would rumble as current CDs were so bassy and loud). You can't play similar albums Homogenic or Vespertine after this without adjusting your volume. :x I have no idea if this problem is lesser or worse on vinyl but i look forward to John (UkmIx's NothingFails) telling me. I have new appreciation of the dynamics of Black Lake and Family on CD. They've moved upwards to join Notget as second level faves behind the wondrous Stonemilker. History Of Touches and Atom Dance (with a warped sequenced Antony vocal) are also great. I need to live with this more before i can evaluate if it's up there with her pre-Volta (or even pre-Medulla) best.
3 NEW LoneLady - Hinterland SPOTIFY
A brilliant set of post-punk / new wave pop from Julie Campbell on her second album - much better than the first. She's essentially the UK equivalent to St. Vincent - instead of Talking Heads being an influence it's Gang Of Four or Cabaret Voltaire (1979-1983).
4 NEW The Prodigy - The Day Is My Enemy IT STREAMS ON ITUNES PRE-RELEASE
It's not all great - the promoted radio single Wild Frontier is rather unimaginative and lumpen for example - but the Sleaford Mods team-up Ibiza is fantastic as are the title track and dub-blaster Invisible Sun (not a Police cover).
5 3 Charli XCX - Sucker (6 weeks; peak #1) 6 NEW Errors - Lease Of Life SPOTIFY 7 NEW Blancmange - Semi Detached SPOTIFY Two synth albums. Neil Arthur operating solo but under the Blancmange name.
8 5 Susanne Sundfor - Ten Love Songs (6 weeks; peak #2) 9 4 Swiss Lips - Swiss Lips (2 weeks; peak #4) 10 NEW Seasick Steve - Sonic Soul Surfer SPOTIFY Coincidence: Steve Wold (for it is he) produced the first batch of material by last week's charting act Modest Mouse. It's a shame America doesn't appreciate him like the UK does. This doesn't contain any major standout hits like some of his others but it's more decent blues and rock and roll with a happy summer vibe.
11 6 The Veronicas - The Veronicas (2 weeks; peak #6) 12 NEW LoneLady - Nerve Up SPOTIFY 13 NEW Fractions - Fractions (MA) SPOTIFY "Goth-synth".
14 NEW Magic Man - Before The Waves SPOTIFY 15 7 Northern Kind - Fifty Three Degrees North (3 weeks; peak #1) 16 8 Laura Welsh - Soft Control (3 weeks; peak #4) 17 9 Purity Ring - Another Eternity (4 weeks; peak #3) 18 10 Torche - Restarter (4 weeks; peak #4) 19 RE Tangerine Dream - Force Majeure (7 weeks; peak #4)
RIP Edgar Froese. Deserves just as much respect as Kraftwerk originators or John Carpenter.
20 RE Tangerine Dream - Le Parc (5 weeks; peak #6)
21 13 Rebecca Ferguson - Lady Sings The Blues (3 weeks; peak #9) 22 14 Fyfe - Control (3 weeks; peak #10) 23 NEW Gun - Frantic SPOTIFY So Dante Gizzi is now singer and the music more resembles his band El Presidente than the full on guitar rock of before.
24 NEW Big Data - 2.0 SPOTIFY Alan Wilkis and numerous guest vocalists (among them Dragonette (Martina), Rivers Cuomo, Twin Shadow, Kimbra) but only the White Sea track really stands out.
25 RE Tangerine Dream, Woody Jackson, The Alchemist, Oh No and DJ Shadow - The Music of Grand Theft Auto V, Volume 2: The Score (game OST) (8 weeks; peak #1)
Another past quote by me to convince others to check TD out (from my 2006 YE list):
SINGLES CHART FOLLOWS IN A FEW HOURS IN A SEPARATE POST. FEEL FREE TO COMMENT BEFOREHAND.

MY ALBUM CHART 5th APRIL 2015
1 1 Marina and The Diamonds - Froot (3 weeks; peak #1) 3 WEEKS AT #1! SPOTIFY
2 2 Bjork - Vulnicura (10 weeks; peak #1) 3 WEEKS at #2! 3 NEW Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Sweet, Asunder and Other Distress SPOTIFY Stunning experimental post-rock. 4 tracks - all long but all worth it, especially the last.
4 4 The Prodigy - The Day Is My Enemy (2 weeks; peak #4) SPOTIFY 5 3 LoneLady - Hinterland (2 weeks; peak #3) 6 NEW Say Lou Lou - Lucid Dreaming NPR PRE-RELEASE STREAM A shame debut single Maybe You - still their best - isn't here but may be a licensing issue (on another label).
7 5 Charli XCX - Sucker (7 weeks; peak #1) 8 NEW Selah Sue - Reason YOUTUBE PLAYLIST Not yet out in UK but all there on her YT channel. Bit more polished than before.
9 NEW Attlas - Siren (MA) SPOTIFY Chill-dance on Mau5trap label.
10 6 Errors - Lease Of Life (2 weeks; peak #6) 11 NEW 8:58 - 8:58 SPOTIFY Sadly, Paul Hartnoll's first post Orbital album doesn't really work in the main, either as a chill/alt album or a dance album, even with Robert Smith, Ed Harcourt and The Unthanks helping - the latter on a cover of The Cure's A Forest which is all kinds of disappointing. It picks up again towards the end, though.

2 2 Bjork - Vulnicura (11 weeks; peak #1) 4 WEEKS at #2! 3 3 Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Sweet, Asunder and Other Distress (2 weeks; peak #3) 4 NEW Pallbearer - Foundations Of Burden SPOTIFY
Doom metal which kind of undersells them, it's so much more than just doomy music, if you like Sabbath or Kyuss...

6 5 LoneLady - Hinterland (3 weeks; peak #3) 7 NEW East India Youth - Culture Of Volume SPOTIFY Better than the over-rated debut but it still can't live up to those two awesome songs in my Hits Chart.
8 6 Say Lou Lou - Lucid Dreaming (2 weeks; peak #6) SPOTIFY 9 NEW Nadine Shah - Fast Food SPOTIFY Also better than the debut.
10 NEW Ringo Starr - Postcards From Paradise SPOTIFY Better than any recent Macca album.
