^ Yes it is a blatant attempt to cash in on the drugs aspect of the the whole Madchester scene.
The nominal AA side isn't too bad though
Northside - Moody Places
I can recall hearing this side on Radio 1 and it probably accounts for why the single was made a double A sided single.

The follow up to 'To Be With You'. Mr Big's less sizeable 'Just Take My Heart'

"To Be With You" would probably be in my bottom ten all-time singles not done by a boyband. If I've been a very bad vas and go to Hell, it will be on a continual loop.

Which is worse, 'To Be With You' or 'More Than Words'? Meanwhile, here's a Top 20 hit from only 4 years ago that seems totally overlooked now:

The follow up to Automatic Lover by Dee D Jackson was a great disco number called Meteor Man. Check that one out. Not sure if its You Tube or not.

Geneva had a string of top 40 hits from their album Further, but are seldom mentioned or heard from unlike many of their contemporaries:

Oh, is that Geneva video back up on YouTube now? I couldn't find it when I was looking for it last year. I'm not a huge fan but I suppose you could say they were a bit ahead of their time.

When I lived in my old flat, a bunch of stoners lived on the other side of the alleyway and one night they were playing "To Be With You" full blast with the window open. I'm not sure what they were playing it on but at the end of the song, it would skip back about 30 seconds and start playing again. They didn't notice until about 4AM.

Speaking of songs from hell...
Jentina - Bad Ass Strippa
Lady Sovereign later made savage spoof version of this track, while Jentina decided a pop career probably wasn't for her and went into modelling, appearing in this spoof of the Cadburys "Gorilla" ad:

I'd always thought that if you were going to become a stripper, you'd want to have a good ass.

Roachford are only remembered for one song (especially with the new Alan Partridge film out) but they had several other hits:
Available on a best of called The Roachford Files.

Wow, exploring Haven a bit further than the chart page and Gubbins for the first time, I have only just discovered this thread. There is hours and hours of fun to be had here. Has anyone mentioned Camouflage by Stan Ridgway? Love that so much, top 10 in 1986, never hear it anywhere any more. I'm afraid I can't post YouTube videos at work though...

Have to agree about "Camouflage": quite a unique sound, and really good. I had a CD compilation of sort of "best of" tracks on IRS records, which had this on, some REM from the mid-80s, "Mad About You" by Belinda Carlisle. Wish I knew what had happened to the CD (and it's not easy to track down info about it online), as it was pretty brilliant from start to finish...

The Whitehead Bros doing 'Your Love Is A 187'. Ideal music for dinner parties.
