Today's results: Allan Taylor 1-10 Scott Donaldson Dominic Dale 4-10 Lyu Haotian Stephen Maguire 10-7 Zhou Yuelong Michael White 10-8 Jordan Brown Matthew Selt 7-10 Thepchaiya Un-Nooh Tom Ford 5-10 Jamie Jones David Lilley 7-10 Ding Junhui Joe O'Connor 7-10 Ashley Hugill
Michael White becomes the second amateur in recent years, after James Cahill, to reach the Crucible. That said, he is an experienced ex-pro who has won ranking titles and due to there being vacancies in pretty much every tournament, he has effectively been playing on the main tour anyway this season.

Today's results: David Gilbert 10-3 Anthony Hamilton Jimmy Robertson 7-10 Chris Wakelin Noppon Saengkham 10-8 Robert Milkins Liam Highfield 10-7 Yuan Sijun Ali Carter 8-10 Matthew Stevens Jackson Page 10-6 David Grace Graeme Dott 8-10 Jamie Clarke Lei Peifan 9-10 Hossein Vafaei
Hossein Vafaei becomes the first Iranian player to qualify for the World Championship. Jackson Page qualifies for the first time, meaning there will be three debutants at the Crucible. Page is the lowest ranked player to qualify this year, apart from Michael White, who doesn't have a world ranking as he's not a tour card holder. White will regain his tour card for next season as he will qualify through the one-year ranking list, as will David Lilley, who reached the final qualifying round.
The 16 qualifiers join the 16 seeded players in Thursday's draw. Mark Selby is seeded 1 as defending champion, with the rest of the seedings based on world ranking: 1. Mark Selby 2. Ronnie O'Sullivan 3. Neil Robertson 4. Judd Trump 5. Kyren Wilson 6. John Higgins 7. Zhao Xintong 8. Mark Williams 9. Barry Hawkins 10. Shaun Murphy 11. Luca Brecel 12. Stuart Bingham 13. Anthony McGill 14. Jack Lisowski 15. Mark Allen 16. Yan Bingtao

Not sure of Shaun Murphy's decision of doing commentary in the morning session and then himself playing in the evening session. Surely that would have had some impact to his loss yesterday.

Forgot to mention the other day Ronnie O'Sullivan is now level with Steve Davis in terms of most Crucible appearances, with 30 and already holds the record for most consecutive appearances, having played in every World Championship since 1993. His win-loss record in the 1st Round is now 26-4. Last 16 line-up: Selby v Yan Page v Williams Wilson/Ding v Bingham McGill v Trump/Vafaei Robertson v Lisowski/Stevens Brecel/Saengkham v Higgins/Un-Nooh Zhao v Maguire Allen v O'Sullivan

Day 6: JUDD TRUMP 10-4 HOSSEIN VAFAEI LUCA BRECEL 5-10 NOPPON SAENGKHAM Jackson Page 1-7 Mark Williams Zhao Xintong 3-5 Stephen Maguire Mark Williams produced possibly his best ever session of snooker at the Crucible, firing in eight breaks of 50+ including three centuries to take a 7-0 lead against Jackson Page, before his protege got off the mark in the final frame of the session. Luca Brecel's defeat means his record at the Crucible is played 5, lost 5. The record for the most matches at the Crucible without a win is 8, jointly held by Rex Williams and Cliff Wilson, though Williams did win matches at the World Championship prior to 1977.

From what I saw, Mark Williams was just outstanding. Any opponent would have struggled.

Day 8: MARK SELBY 10-13 YAN BINGTAO ZHAO XINTONG 9-13 STEPHEN MAGUIRE MARK ALLEN 4-13 RONNIE O'SULLIVAN Anthony McGill 4-4 Judd Trump Neil Robertson 4-4 Jack Lisowski Mark Selby's reign comes to an end, losing to Yan Bingtao. Yan led 11-7 before Selby won three in a row to make it 11-10. The next frame turned out to be the longest in Crucible history, lasting over 85 minutes, with Yan winning it to take a 12-10 lead and finished things off with a century. Ronnie O'Sullivan got the one frame he needed this afternoon to beat Mark Allen and in doing so, breaks Stephen Hendry's record for the most matches won at the Crucible, this being his 71st. Stephen Maguire survived a fightback from Zhao Xintong to set up a quarter-final meeting with O'Sullivan. Zhao's exit along with Selby's means Neil Robertson is the only current champion of the three Triple Crown events still in the tournament.
