England 55-3 going into the final day, needing 262 to make NZ bat again. Realistically, it'll be a case of England trying to bat out the day. Not exactly our strength.

2nd test underway in Hamilton. Two changes for England with Buttler injured, replaced by Zak Crawley. Pope keeps wicket. Chris Woakes is in for Leach. NZ have Boult and de Grandhomme missing, replaced by Henry and Mitchell.
England won the toss and chose to field. NZ 53-2 with Raval and Kane Williamson gone.

New Zealand 170-3 England team selection crazy 5 seamers no spinner and Crawley batting at 6 or 7 when he is a opener.

England in South Africa now. Lost a low scoring first test thanks to an awful 1st innings collapse. Won the toss in the 2nd test this morning, chose to bat and it was the usual story, limping along to 262-9 at the close.

Good response by England to earn a 1st innings lead of 46. 5 wickets for Jimmy Anderson, 5 catches for Ben Stokes.

Excellent win for England in the 2nd test, producing the kind of batting performance in the 2nd innings that's been lacking too often in recent years. Had to be patient with the ball on the final day and lost Jimmy to injury yet again but Stokes wrapped things up, helped by something excellent catching.

Jimmy ruled out of the final two tests. Could that be his test career over...? Hopefully Archer is fit for Port Elizabeth.

Thing is, if England go and win the series without him, he could find it hard to get back into the team when his body is so fragile now. I can't see him going to Sri Lanka in March, then in the summer we have two 3-test series against the Windies and Pakistan. They could use him on a rotational basis perhaps with Broad but it would be a surprise if he played more than half of the summer tests.

3rd test starts tomorrow. It looks like Mark Wood will replace Jimmy Anderson with Jofra Archer still not recovered from his elbow injury.

Excellent performance, dominated throughout. England finally seem to have remembered how to bat in a test match and the bowlers did their bit.
