Tough afternoon session for England as Blackwood and Brooks put on 100 for the 5th wicket but Stokes makes the vital breakthrough on the stroke of tea to leave the Windies on 137-5.

Big improvement - bowling, batting & fielding - versus the first Test. But the West Indies selectors didn't help their cause by not resting any of their clearly exhausted fast bowlers.

England squad announced for the final test against the West Indies, starting tomorrow. It's the 11 who won the 2nd test, plus Anderson, Archer and Wood. Dom Bess keeps his place in the squad after his final day performance in the 2nd test, having previously been tipped to lose his place to Jack Leach. Ben Stokes is carrying an injury. He's likely to play but might not bowl.

Final test underway at Old Trafford.
Two changes for England with Archer and Anderson replacing Curran and Crawley. That would suggest Ben Stokes won't bowl. The West Indies go with a second spinner with Cornwall replacing Joseph.
The Windies won the toss and are bowling. England have lost Sibley and Root and are 57-2. However, Gabriel has limped off with what appears to be a hamstring injury, which could put the Windies in a huge hole as the match progresses.

A good day for England, who reached 258-4 at the close. Pope and Buttler piled on the runs after tea, reaching 91 and 56 respectively at the close for an unbeaten partnership of 136.
Shannon Gabriel's injury appears to be less serious than first thought and he returned to the attack but wasn't able to take a wicket.
This will be the final time the two teams compete for the Wisden Trophy. It's been announced that from the next Test series, England and the West Indies will compete for the Richards-Botham Trophy.

Good batting after being a bit wobbly, that spinner for the Windies is HUGE, he puts Akinfenwa to shame! Surely he's leg before when he bats as they are the size of trees!

He reminds me of Dwayne Leverock, who played for Bermuda at the World Cup back in the day and took a stunning catch against India:

A shocking collapse from England this morning but they were rescued by Broad, who hit England's third-fastest 50 ever, off just 33 balls. England were eventually all out for 369 and have taken three West Indies wickets to regain control of the Test.

England well on top after day 2 with the West Indies 137-6. England on course for a big 1st innings lead with the Windies still not assured of avoiding the follow-on.

Broad's 50 was brilliant, how I remember him with the bat, assume tomorrow may be a washout with the rain, but there's still another day after that?

Inspired decision to drop Broad for the first game. Since his recall, he hasn't played as well for 3 or 4 years.

Only the weather can save the West Indies now with England taking 3 wickets this morning (including Stuart Broad's 500th test wicket) to leave them 84-5 at lunch.

Wonder why they regularly seem to have trouble winning the first match in a home Seies.

The 3-match ODI series between England and Ireland is underway. All 3 matches are being played at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. None of the current Test squad are involved for England but there are still several World Cup winners taking part.
England are well on top in the first match with Ireland 124-7 after 35 overs, having been 28-5 at one stage. David Willey, who missed out on the World Cup after Jofra Archer was added to the final squad, has taken four wickets.
