He's played plenty of white ball cricket this year so if England feel the talent is still there (and all the signs suggest they do) they'll pick him anyway. England have a one-off test against Zimbabwe then a 5-test series against India next summer so it'll be interesting to see how much Archer plays ahead of the Ashes.

England win by 5 wickets, chasing down 205. Sri Lanka did very well to make a game of it, having looked set for a heavy defeat on more than one occasion during the match.

Mark Wood has been ruled out of the 2nd and 3rd tests against Sri Lanka due to the thigh injury he suffered on Friday. Josh Hull has been called up to the England squad for the 2nd test, though Olly Stone is expected to play in place of Wood.

Glad to hear that Gus Atkinson has got his first test hundred. No one was expecting this when he came out to bat. Could he bat at Number 6 for England in the future ?
