Sounds a long and tough day in the field for England on day one of their test match in Pakistan. The hosts are 328-4 at close of play.

Meanwhile, England have won 2 out of 2 at the women's T20 World Cup. They beat Bangladesh on Saturday by 21 runs and today beat South Africa by 7 wickets with 4 balls to spare, chasing 125. In the same group, Scotland have lost twice, against Bangladesh by 16 runs in the opening game of the tournament, then to the West Indies, who chased down 100 with 50 balls to spare on Sunday.

England 96-1 at the close on day 2 in reply to Pakistan's 556. Ollie Pope was out for a duck, opening the batting in place of Ben Duckett who suffered a thumb injury while taking the catch that ended Pakistan's innings.

An excellent 3rd day for England, reaching 492-3 at the close. Joe Root batted all day, surpassing Alistair Cook as England's all-time leading test run scorer and finishing unbeaten on 176. He was joined by Harry Brook, who is 141 not out. England are just 64 behind Pakistan's 1st innings total and have scored at a much quicker rate. If they continue to bat tomorrow and add more quick runs, they could give themselves 4 sessions to try and bowl Pakistan out to win the test.

Root also extends his lead as England’s all-time century maker. Now on 35 with Cook back on 33.

Just woke up and checked in on the cricket and to say I was stunned is an understatement.
A record stand for England by Brooks and Root - 1 triple century and the other a double century. Over 800 runts giving them a sizeable lead. Now they have taken four Pakistan wickets for under 50 runs. This is shaping up to be an incredible test victory.

Over 800 runts giving them a sizeable lead. Now they have taken four Pakistan wickets for under 50 runs. This is shaping up to be an incredible test victory. This morning was the best thing I've seen on TV since I got home from hospital. I was grinning from ear to ear. Both Root & Brook only got out through sheer fatigue & exhaustion.
Brook, who became England's first triple centurion for 34 years (since Graham Gooch's 333 in 1990), shared a partnership of 454 with Root (262 his highest test score), beating the previous best of 411 made by Colin Cowdrey and Peter May 57 years ago.
It came as England posted 823-7 declared - the fourth-highest total in Test history - and then reduced Pakistan to 152-6 to close in on a remarkable victory in Multan. It could have been much worse for Pakistan has they've put on 70 not out for the 7th wicket stand.

A one-sided win for England's women at the T20 World Cup against Scotland. They restricted Scotland to 109-6 from their 20 overs and then chased down their target in just 10 overs, with Maia Bouchier hitting 62 off 34 balls and Danni Wyatt-Hodge making 51 off 26. England go top of their group on net run rate. They'll definitely be through if they win their last game against the West Indies but could still progress on NRR if they lose.
In the other group, Australia are through with 4 wins out of 4 after beating India, who will probably be out if New Zealand win their last game against Pakistan.
Meanwhile, in Pakistan, Ben Stokes has been passed fit for the 2nd test. Chris Woakes seems the most likely player to make way. The match will be played on the same pitch as last week's 1st test.

Now confirmed that Chris Woakes and Gus Atkinson will sit out the second test, replaced by Ben Stokes and Matthew Potts.

Pakistan are batting first and Jack Leach has 2 wickets inside the first 10 overs, which probably tells us all we need to know about this pitch...
Pakistan have selected 7 spinners.

Pakistan 259-5 at the end of a day where the pitch maybe didn't offer as much turn as the early stages suggested it would. Kamran Ghulam hit a century on his debut for the hosts.

England out of the Women's T20 World Cup after a complete bottle job against the West Indies. England made 141-7 but a stack of dropped catches and missed run out chances proved costly as the West Indies blasted their way to victory in the 18th over.
West Indies win the group and will face New Zealand in the semis. South Africa will play Australia in the other semi.

2nd test still finely poised. Pakistan were all out for 366 and England were going well on 211-2 but finished on 239-6 after a flurry of late wickets.

South Africa are through to the women's T20 final after shock win over Australia in the semi-finals. It will be the first time a women's World Cup final in any format hasn't featured either Australia or England.
In the test match, Pakistan were bowled out for 221, but it should have been a lot less as Salman Ali Agha was dropped twice while still on single figures and went on to make 63. Chasing 297 to win, England lost Duckett and Crawley early and were 36-2 at the close.

England bowled out for 144, Pakistan win the 2nd test by 152 runs. Despite Pakistan playing 7 spinners, all 20 England wickets were taken by just 2 of them: Noman Ali who had match figures of 11-147, and Sajid Khan who had figures of 9-204. They were the only bowlers to bowl in England's 2nd innings.
Pakistan level the series at 1-1 going into the 3rd and final test in Rawalpindi, which starts on Thursday.

Intriguing opening day of the 3rd test. England batted first after winning the toss and were bowled out for 267 with Pakistan bowling only spin. Jamie Smith top scored for England with 89. Pakistan were reduced to 73-3 at the close.
England made 2 changes to the side with Rehan Ahmed selected as a 3rd specialist spinner and Gus Atkinson returning in place of Matthew Potts and Brydon Carse.

Spirited comeback by England as the middle order collapsed, and good to get three wickets, it is finely poised!

Pakistan's test to lose now after they ground their way to 344 all out, having been 177-7, a 1st innings lead of 77. England's sole mission after that was to get to the end of the day without incident and they failed miserably, ending on 24-3, still 53 behind.
