Great shout. I didn't mind 'Achilles Heel'. Everything else, especially their version of 'Dancing In The Moonlight' was awful.

A year ago I would have put 'Creep' by Radiohead on here, but I've come to like a few more of their songs since then. Hardly anything on OK Computer mind!

I give you the Kings* of Landfill Indie:
The Kooks - She Moves In Her Own Way
BRIT school alumni Luke Pritchard wrote the lyrics about his then girlfriend Katie Melua.
I like this because it has a if The Libertines wrote a commercial The La's song charm to it.
But Naive (I hate Naive with the same passion I have for Sex On Fire; Living On A Prayer; etc); Ooh La; Always Where I Need To Be; etc deserve to stay in the landfill indie dump which helped killed guitar music as a Top 40 commodity.
* (OK, The Princes of Landfill Indie) ... The Kaiser Chiefs were the Kings of Landfill Indie ... but they managed at least half a dozen very good or better singles.

This band's first hit was brilliant but after that it went all downhill for me.

To tell the truth I liked Toploader. They were like a more Prog version of Ocean Colour Scene. Whom I also quite liked.

I would agree with Kooks being in here but I would choose 'Always Where I Need To Be' as my one good one of theirs as it showed they had a set of balls between them. I can't get through 'She Moves In Her Own Way' without turning it off.

This band's first hit was brilliant but after that it went all downhill for me. I think you've totally misunderstood the Beastie Boys as a whole. This was a classic but their other early stuff was pretty awful. Then they matured and produced some truly amazing work.

This band's first hit was brilliant but after that it went all downhill for me. Let's correct that.
Their first album was dreadful Led Zeppelin sampling white boys Fratboy rap music.
But from their second album onwards they were great.
Starting with .... this radical musical departure & genius track with a humourous video
1989 Paul's Boutique would comfortably make my Top 100 albums ... should I ever get around to doing one again.

I was going to put Atomic Kitten 'Whole Again' in here, but I'd say it's pretty good rather than brilliant!

I think the thing about Beastie Boys everybody could pick a different outstanding track personally I love two albums but ‘‘I’ll Comunication ’ for the win especially ‘Sabotage’

I thought 'It's Time' was a great song but it was a bit of a red herring, bit of a new folk bandwagon song then they showed their true colours. I don't mind most Imagine Dragons songs but nothing matched that for me. I see your Imagine Dragons and I raise you Limp Bizkit.
It takes a special "talent" to destroy such bomb-proof songs such as George Michael's "Faith" & especially The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes" but Fred Durst & co managed it.
Limp Bizkit may be the worst band ever. Right down on the playlist of the ninth circle of Inferno along with Kooks and Linkin Park. Not one single redemptive factor.
BOT, Terrorvision never did much for me, but I did like "Tequila"...although that may be mostly down to Mint Royale. Kept of no. 1 by Offspring. Sigh.

You see I dont get the Beastie Boys at all, it's just shouty nonsense, and lots of bands mentioned here I like a lot. Horses for courses and music snobbery abounds I think.

Yeah its quickly descended into name a band that annoy you because they had lots of hits and you dont think they are worthy because they only have 1 good song
Personally I like all of these acts and think some had 3 or 4 very good albums and most could comfortably fill a best of.

As I said I wasn't saying the bands I chose were bad just they have been perceived that way through culture.
I have another suggestion The Bravery, I loved their debut almost as much as 'Hot Fuss' and yet they were ridiculed to the point, you just could not admit to liking them. That album is still very good and 'Honest Mistake' beats 90% of The Killers output. Its just funny how things go.
In a different universe this is played at every wedding and party!! Actually maybe not weddings...

The Bravery = Landfill Indie's equivalent of Britpop's ....
Menswear - Day Dreamer
On second thoughts this is bandwagon jumping ripping off Elastica ripping off Wire rubbish. Thank goodness the game changing OK Computer album soon came along...
Thankfully, their drummer Matt Everitt has since redeemed himself on BBC Radio 6 Music.
