I did say pop group - I do still listen to most of the indie and rock groups I discovered when I was very young.

Spiller - Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) I'm shocked this one isn't on Spotify. I'm also shocked it only spent one week at #1 - it felt like it was absolutely massive, and still sounds like an all-time massive dance anthem today! Looking back now, it seems bizarre that there was a close race to the top between this and the Truesteppers featuring Victoria Beckham, because this is blatantly the much stronger of the two! It was the song that also introduced us to the lovely Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and it still sounds just as fresh today as it ever did!

Madonna - Music Well now I remember why 'Groovejet' just spent a solitary week at the top - it was to make room for this much hyped and anticipated Madonna release, which was the title track of her first album since the massively well received 'Ray Of Light'. This wasn't a million miles away in terms of sound, but at the same time it managed to sound completely new and fresh, but yet totally Madonna. I love it, but then she could never do any wrong in my eyes!

A1 - Take On Me It seems like in every batch of songs there has to be an inferior boyband cover of a classic song! The opening instrumental bit is the same, and they've done little to change it up at all in fact, but whereas Morten Harket from A-ha had a brilliant vocal range - the lead singer from A1 doesn't! If I didn't know the original I'd think it was ok, but as I do then it will never be more than a very pale imitation of a classic!

Modjo - Lady (Hear Me Tonight) I can't moan about the lack of decent dance tunes getting to #1 in the year 2000, because there have been lots so far! This is another brilliant one which never seems to age. Take me to a beach in Ibiza now!

Mariah Carey Featuring Westlife - Against All Odds I spoke too soon saying there was just one inferior boyband cover in every batch! This one actually spent 2 weeks at the top of the chart - What were people thinking? I have loved everything Mariah Carey has brought out up to this point, and I even like the solo version she did of this, which originally featured on her 'Rainbow' album - but even her vocals on this coll-abhorration sound flat and boring. It's actually even worse than I remember and I can't wait for it to finish now!

'Lady (Hear Me Tonight)' is my favourite out of those. I also like 'Groovejet' and 'Music' but maybe wouldn't choose to listen to them.
The other two can take a hike!

All Saints - Black Coffee Well this sounds positively delightful after the last record! I know I said earlier their singles were very hit-and-miss for me, but I actually really like this a lot more now than I can remember doing so at the time. It's true what I always say - everything always sounds better in retrospect (well most things anyway!), and at the moment I could happily listen to more like this.

Billie Piper - Day & Night Previously just known by her first name, Billie Piper adopted a more grown-up sound for the first single from her second album - meaning it's a darn sight better than guff like 'Because We Want To' (although the song 'Honey To The Bee' wasn't too bad!). I mean, it's not on the same level as the stuff Britney was bringing out, but it's not too bad a pop song considering what came before it.
Love Day & Night! And Something Deep Inside. The first album was rather rubbish, and felt too old listening to it at 22.

I won’t lie - I bought Westlife singles and albums before this, but this version leaves me cold. It’s almost she has been CGI’ed into the video - like Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

It is on Spotify but under a different name! I hated it so much when this came out, because of the battle... I just wanted the record to be broken! All 5 Spices with number 1 singles (Emma got hers in 2001). Ah. But this is a great tune, I love dance routine to OOYM though.

She'd already been in the top 30 as the singer with theaudience, who were (and evidently are) criminally under-rated.

Oh cool. I don't know how they expect people to find them when they are just credited under Various Artists though.

I actually prefer this to Pure shores. Brilliant production.

I think I may prefer it to 'Pure Shores' too. I certainly enjoyed listening to it more on this session - although it could be coming straight after 'Against all odds' that made it more appealing!

It is under Spiller but appears on a Various Artists album, not a Spiller album.
Adding featured artists to your search on Spotify will often lead to failure to find. Spotify's search isn't particularly good, and you have to use poor 3rd party playlist builders rather than them having their own which would ideally find the proper match and not pull out karaoke version when the real version is there.

It comes and goes usually appears on a compilation and then gets removed again
