Bodyrox Featuring Luciana - Yeah Yeah God I had completely forgotten all about this track! It's really nice to be reminded of it though, some fourteen years later on a dark and miserable Tuesday evening! Yeah, it's just a banger isn't it? I don't know how I'd feel about it if it had been a constant radio staple for the last decade or so, but as it is now I am loving it, loving it, loving it!

U2 & Green Day - The Saints Are Coming This was a cover of a little known track from the Skids debut album in 1979, and as I didn't know the original at the time of this release I was absolutely in love with it. It should have been #1 but was stuck behind a different cover song - Westlife's drippy version of 'The Rose'. This is banging though, and I'm so glad I got to hear it again all these years later!

Justin Timberlake Featuring T.I. - My Love This is another of those that I don't remember until it starts playing, then it all comes flooding back like I only heard it yesterday! I still think his best solo singles were on his debut album, but it was evident that the Timberlake was growing up at this point, and this is a very competent venture into hip hop music for him.

Booty Luv - Boogie 2nite I think this UK dance outfit had a few chart hits if I remember correctly, and I'm sure the other ones will come back to me as soon as I hear them - but at the moment this is the only one I can recall. It's a bit of a banger though, and I have vivid memories of dancing tpo it whilst off my head in a club somewhere! It still sounds great though, to this day.

Cliff Richard - 21st Century Christmas/Move It The beauty of doing the #2s of the 21st century is that I never know what is coming next, and I really wasn't expecting to be listening to a double helping of Cliff tonight. It's a shame in a way that he just missed out on a #1 with this as it stopped him from becoming the only artist to have a chart topper in six different decades. I quite like '21st Century Christmas' as well - I mean, it's not as memorable as 'Mistletoe And Wine', but it's better than 'Santa's List' and it's a pretty pleasant listen, even if it doesn't really set those sleighbells ringing. 'Move It' is a re-record of his debut hit from way back in 1958, featuring Brian May on guitar and Brian Bennett (from the Shadows) on drums. To be honest it's nowhere near as good as the original, and a bit of a pointless release if I'm honest. Sorry Cliff, but I do still like the original.

Eric Prydz vs Floyd - Proper Education The Floyd here is obviously Pink Floyd, and it's a remix of 'Another Brick In The Wall' - which is obviously a real classic to begin with so Prydz had most of the ingredients there already. This remix is thumping though, and probably even better than his big #1 'Call On Me'.

Just Jack - Starz In Their Eyes Hip hop act Just Jack was quite famous for about fifteen minutes, and this single tells me that he should have been much bigger. It's quite a thought provoking song really, about the dark side of shows like Pop Idol and X-Factor and how they just build the contestants up before spitting them out and moving onto the next one. Great tune too.

Fall Out Boy - This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race I have to confess I never really noticed Fall Out Boy much at the time, bar a couple of singles - this being one of them, and it's definitely a bit of a banger. Maybe it's time I looked into more of their material.

Gwen Stefani Featuring Akon - The Sweet Escape Gwen Stefani has got this air about her that makes you sit up and take notice. She was fantastic as the front-woman in No Doubt, and then she went infectiously poppy for her first solo album, before continuing the theme on the second album - of which this is one of the stand-out tracks with its R&B flavour and catchy chorus. I feel that I don't listen to this woman enough, because this is just one fine example of what she is great at.

Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend This was apparently from Avril's third album, and I would have to look at her discography to remember what was on her second one but I thought her debut long player was brilliant when it came out. I had sort of moved on by the time of this release, but it's a pretty catchy pop song nonetheless even if it's no 'Sk8er Boi' or 'Complicated'. It's impossible not to get into it though.

Mark Ronson Featuring Daniel Merriweather - Stop Me Mark Ronson is a bit of a genius really. This was taken from his 'Version' album which featured various artists doing cover versions of different songs, and produced in his own unique style. This was originally by the Smiths and I have to confess I didn't know the original at the time, but I do love this version. Daniel Merriweather's voice works well on it, but it's all about the production really, and after hearing the original I'd say I slightly prefer this version.

Arctic Monkeys - Brianstorm So after the humungous deal that was the Arctic's debut album, this was the long awaited lead single from the follow-up. And I remember thinking how much heavier it was than their previous work, and while it still had a catchy chorus it wasn't up there with the two main singles from the debut. It's still a pretty good effort though, and they did go on to do more greatness, so in retrospect this sits quite nicely in their canon.

Manic Street Preachers - Your Love Alone Is Not Enough Well this was the best thing the Manics had done in a while, and it featured joint lead vocals with Nina Persson from the Cardigans. We're not used to hearing a female vocalist with the Manics and they work so well together that I don't know why they don't try it more often. The song itself is so in your face that it's hard not to sit up and take notice, which is just me saying it's pretty brilliant really.

Maroon 5 - Makes Me Wonder I was well into the Maroons' debut album, and was still into them at the time of this release of the lead single from the follow-up. Over the years though, I have to admit some of their songs of been overplayed to the point of saturation and it makes me not want to listen to them at all very often. This is one of the ones that I haven't heard much since it's release and therefore still sounds great.... It's a really good tune actually, so I don't know why it hasn't been done to death like the others - Not that I'm complaining, mind!

Mutya Buena - Real Girl This was the ex-Sugababes debut solo single, and I have to confess that I couldn't have hummed any of it for quids before I started playing it. It is coming back to me now though, and it is a pretty strong track with a really catchy chorus that I shouldn't really have forgotten so easily.

The White Stripes - Icky Thump Of all the songs that I could have guessed would be the White Stripes only top 2 single, I never would have named this one. The American duo have released some great tunes like 'Seven Nation Army' and 'Fell In Love With A Girl' - even 'My Doorbell' was more memorable than this. I'm trying to like it, but I'm not sure if I do really - it's just lacking in melody for me really.

Lee Mead - Any Dream Will Do Lee Mead was another talent show winner - this time to find the lead role in the 2007 West End revival of 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat'. I can't say I ever watched it, and I suppose this is a competent enough version but it sounds just too similar to Jason Donovan's #1 cover from 1991 to really excite me - and I did really like Jason's Version.

Kate Nash - Foundations Kate Nash was one of the new breed of singers who sang like she was talking about every day things, like what Lily Allen was doing. I don't know how to describe it really, it's like they're talking to you in the verses, but it all rhymes and is quite clever. Whatever, this was one of the better examples of that particular style of pop, and still sounds great today.

Fergie - Big Girls Don't Cry Not a cover of the Four Seasons classic, but it's still a great song for the Black Eyed Peas singer. It's one of those R&B songs that has such a great tune that it would sound great sung in any genre of music.
