Samantha Fox did one good song "Naughty Girls (Need Love Too)" which was a top 5 hit in the USA and only scraped the top 40 here, that in 1988. What ? It's her worst song. My top 5 Samantha Fox singles :- Another Woman - I Only Wanna Be With You - Hot Boy - Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now - I Surrender (To The Spirit Of The Night)

Top 10 ten time and we still have two of the worst PWL acts making their debuts
10 Can't Forget You - Sonia
Think I hated Sonia from the first second I heard her. I think she was Pete Waterman's attempt at having a British Tiffany and well if he wanted someone we would dislike even more than her, he succeeded big time. This song is completely forgettable. She has one ok song but its not in 1989.

7 Don't It Make You Feel Good - Stefan Dennis
We are stopping after this, a song that really is so bad its good. It just makes me smile everytime. But he could have gone to PWL and it would be top 3 and absolutely unlistenable but instead he makes a weird goth electro track, its actually hard to describe. Its just so awful, you have to keep watching and listening. Actually this is the Australian version... here is ours
We have turned up the Euro beats a bit just lol

Wow, that UB40 mess... they might be my least favourite musical act of all time. No redeeming features at all.

Nothing to redeem this, it's far worse than the others. I don't think I could hum a single New Kids On The Block song. In fact whenever I see the words New Kids On The Block all I can think of is 'had a bunch of hits, Chinese food makes me sick'

32 Too Much - Bros
yep hearing them back to back, this is better than 'Cover Girl' by no means the worst Bros song at all. Shouldn't be anywhere near this list. A radical(ish) departure and a brave attempt at doing something different. The Goss twins are idiots though so they kind of deserve some sort of ridicule.

5 Sealed with a Kiss - Jason Donovan
Another dreadful cover from PWL, how many filters is Jason's voice put through.

4 I'd Rather Jack - The Reynolds Girls
Must admit Id rather listen to this than the last 2 songs but out of principle and the lyrical content of this song it must be higher. It is very ironic that 70s songs are as big now as ever before. Fleetwood Mac etc are way bigger than house music 32 years later...so...guess they lost...funny they dont want heavy metal and its a younger genre than the music JD was peddling earlier... But I do agree that we should always move with the times and not get stuck in a time period forever

3 Blame It on the Boogie - 7" Version - Big Fun
And this...guess its ok to be a genre from the past as long as Pete Waterman liked it, This is of course terrible a classic song destroyed and all fun and energy drained from it.

2 Wind Beneath My Wings - Bette Midler
How can I do this? A certain demographic shout at me!!! Well I dont care, I have always detested this song and I cant stand Bette Midler either. It is probably in my top 10 most hated songs of all time!!

And so of course is my number one
MY WORST HIT SONG OF 1989
You'll Never Stop Me Loving You - Sonia
Everything I said about Sonia earlier but multiplied x10. If Kylie sung this or Rick, I probbaly wouldnt mind this but something about Sonia from the first moment I heard and saw her. I just formed an irrational hatred but then I hated a lot of PWL as lots of brilliant songs got stuck at #42 or #43 or missed out on TOTP plays for more recycled PWL songs who were always available, that all sounded pretty much the same. And by the time Sonia came along I just had enough. So I hated this.
She will sing better and have better songs in 1990 but the damage is done. SAW & PWL were a plague on the charts in 1988-1989 and thsi was one of the worst alongf with the others in this top 5.

Where is NKOTB "Hangin' Tough"? Or are you saving it for 1990?
For me the worst SAW song of all time is The Reynolds Girls "I'd Rather Jack".
Nothing sums up the song more knowing it was written by a 42 year old; 38 year old & 33 year old male as if they knew what the youth of 1989 thought. Plus it is hilarious all the acts & musical movements they praised were gone within a few years; whilst the acts & musical genres they dissed are still going strong.
Thankfully, within a year they'd either gone Raving or Madchester; and a couple of years later were into grunge.
For comparison: The Reynolds Girls "I'd Rather Jack" has been streamed 190K times. (At the time) Fleetwood Mac's last hit "Everywhere" has been streamed over 493 million times. Or to put it another way "Everywhere" is 2596 times more popular than "I'd Rather Jack".

Yep that’s exactly what I think. ‘Hang Tough’ will be 1990 but won’t be quite as high as some of these
