This batch is a bit fresher 95 Georgia - Euphoric
I absolutely loved her previous album, one of my favourites of 2020. This third album is good but just a bit ordinary. Her vocals are sweet and the beats are fine but nothing really gives you that high of 'Seeking Thrills' which is maybe the point but I never really feel 'Euphoric' sadly. 3.5/5

94 Fireworks - Higher Lonely Power
Now a rock band that I had never come across before. They are from Michigan and this was their first album in nine years. This is their fourth album and although they are primarily called emo, they do cover a lot of sounds on this album from hardcore to pop and everything in between. I would not overlook this one if you like your emo to veer away from the template. 3.5/5

93 Cloth - Secret Measure
The second album from the Scottish duo, I would probably call this dream pop, very whispering vocals and subtle sounds. Good reference points would be Caroline Polachek or The XX. It made an impression on me on first listen but not sure if it is a record I will come back to. 3.5/5

92 B.C. Camplight - The Last Rotation of Earth
I have seen this singer-songwriter music around over the years, much of it doesn't do a lot for me but I am thinking that was due to my singles focus, now I am spending more time listening to albums, certain acts work better that way and he is one of them. This was his 6th album and it is a pretty strong art pop record. He seems to have built up a following as this record reached #31 in the UK. 3.5/5

91 Cathedral Bells - Everything at Once
Back to more familiar ground, this is the third album from the Canadian dream pop and shoegaze outfit. Not a lot to say really, you know what you are getting, nothing new or groundbreaking but if you love shoegaze it is not done much more competently than this. Think this is another record that has flown under most peoples radar, not one review on RYM. 3.5/5

90 Bell X1 - Merciful Hour
Another band who have had some minor success, their biggest hit and most well known song was "Eve, the Apple of My Eye" from 2003. This is their eighth album and the seven year gap between albums, really hurt them. They have gone from a band who have had 5 top 3 albums in their native Ireland, including 3 number ones to a #54 peak with this record!! A real shame as this record is just as good as anything I have heard from them. 3.5/5

89 Belle and Sebastian - Late Developers
The twelfth album from the Scottish indie band and this is one of their most varied albums ever. We have classic sounding B&S, we have pop band B&S and everything in between. Must admit that works for me, I am not a fan of them when they go all total pop. This record reached #30 in the UK. 3.5/5

88 Superlove - follow:noise
A new band for to me for 2023, this is their second album and if I had to describe them they are the opposite side of the coin from Bring Me The Horizon, this is a pop band who are now very heavy. Maybe a Busted for the metal of today. They just now how to right hooks and keep up the energy. 3.5/5

87 Screaming Females - Desire Pathway
This is the eighth album from the female fronted rock band from New Jersey. It is garage rock meets riot grrl but also even with the anger, it is also quite accessible. I struggle with that genre sometimes example never could get into Babes In Toyland but I really like this album. Crazy I have not found them till now. 3.5/5

86 Meet Me @ the Altar - Past // Present // Future
There have been a few disappointing albums in 2023 but the biggest for me is this record. It is the lowest charting album that I physically purchased. I thought they had a string of great/brilliant singles in 2020-2021. Best of which their Model Citizen EP. This though is very by the numbers pop punk, the highlight is 'Say It (To My Face' but even that is no match for songs like 'Feel A Thing' or 'Brighter Days'. I will stick with them but i will not rush to buy their next one. 3.5/5

Not much of note for me so far though I love the Daughter album rather more than you do! I hadn't got around to Drop Nineteens; been in a bit of a music slump lately but trying to get my act together so I can finish my last chart which is now 3 weeks late

85 Jadu Heart - Derealised
The third album from the UK Duo, it is very chilled out indie rock, very whispering and slightly psychedelic. Best tracks 'Freedom' and 'I Shimmer', a very solid listen. 3.5/5

84 Sundara Karma - Better Luck Next Time
A band I have been a fan of for sometime, first saw them supporting Nothing But Thieves. This is their third album and the first of theirs I did not buy physically. It is still good just nothing on it feels as essential as their previous records. It is a standard indie rock album, just a bit mid. I guess I wasn't the only one as their previous albums were both top 30, this one didn't chart. 3.5/5

83 New Arcades - Leave Something Behind
These next 15 albums are all high 3.5s, they are all better than what we have had but don't quite have the magic or consistency to get that 4 star award. This record came out of nowhere, a very late addition. This is their fifth album and you can tell by the sleeve we are in synthwave territory. This album is so uplifting one of the best examples of this 80s revival genre I have heard for some time, many of these acts are getting a little tired, yes talking about you Work Drugs. This could be a real grower. 3.5/5

82 Broken Records - The Dreamless Sleep of the 1990s
A very under the radar return from one of the best Scottish bands of the 10s, it isn't even on their Wikipedia page. Nothing much as changed, they still make dark and moody indie rock with amazing production and atmosphere. I guess not being on 4AD any longer means they will no longer get much promo sadly. 3.5/5 but again this could go up!

81 cursetheknife - There's a Place I Can Rest
The second album from the shoegaze rock band from Oklahoma but this is a cut above most of the genre. Basically as it covers so many styles and influences you can hear new wave, post punk, hardcore and even folk along with the usual shoegaze sounds. A very interesting album. 3.5/5

80 Taking Meds - Dial M for Meds
One of my finds of 2023, this is the fourth album from the grunge rockers and this album maybe should be higher. If you imagine Foo Fighters but with a bit more punk still in them, that is Taking Meds. It is absolutely nothing new, 'Memory lane' is pure nostalgia in 3 and half minutes and they know it with that song title. 3.5/5

79 Black Honey - A Fistful of Peaches
The third album from the British UK indie rock band. I was not sold on this at first, the lead single 'Charlie Bronson' I found a bit annoying but the next singles were all great and I actually like 'Charlie Bronson' now after playing it again as part of the album, it really does kick. Biggest hit album on the list so far it reached #6 in the UK. 3.5/5

78 Art School Girlfriend - Soft Landing
Another new artist to me, this is the second album from the Welsh singer-songwriter. I think the most obvious comparison is Everything But The Girl, their comeback just missed by list, it did get a high 3 stars. It is just a great chill out vibe and again The XX is also an influence for sure. 3.5/5

77 Holding Absence - The Noble Art of Self Destruction
I do listen to a lot of pop punk, emo and hardcore and a lot of it is quite samey, good but nothing that sticks with you. This third album from the Welsh band is a step above a lot of the noise. The most obvious comparison for me is Brand New, they are maybe not as dark but this album has so much of the vibes of 'Deja Entendu', this is how you do heavy emo! It actually charted as well, reaching #67 in the UK. 3.5/5
