Thought it would be good to see how the Premiership would change if referees/linesman never made any mistakes with regards to goals/penalties/offsides etc...
So far, I think we can add:
Villa vs Liverpool - can anyone actually argue that the free-kick was actually a foul? Thought not.
B'ham vs Sunderland - Equaliser shouldn't really have counted what with the keeper being held down.
The Reading goal against Chelsea was debatable but as they lost anyway it doesn't matter.
Any objections, or any more to add?
Or shall we just keep:
Gained:
Liverpool - 2 points Sunerland - 1 point
Lost:
Aston Villa - 1 point Birmingham - 2 poitns

But what's the point? You can argue over a lot of fouls that should not be given, doesn't get you anywhere does it?

I suppose it's an interesting experiment to see if these things really do balance out over the course of a season or whether poor decisions make a difference come May.

But unless you see every minute of every game, how can you comment? Plus some of it will come down to opinion, some will say foul or offside, and others wont agree.

I don't see how you can debate whether something is offside or not. It either is, or it isn't. There can't really be 'opinion'.
And anyway, a manager will only moan at a costly decison. They don't give a flying f*** when they give away a harsh free kick just inside the oppositions half. Or if the opposions striker is offside and he isn't flagged but they can't reach the ball.

Just those offsides that are too close to call, I always say give the striker the benefit of the doubt, sadly linesmen dont They do say there is supposed to be clear day light now dont they?

they used to do this in one of the weekly lads mags, and i think the conclusion was that by the end of the season most things even themselves out. I personally like the way it gives something to debate come monday morning! the thing is that video replays would probably only be in premiership games, and again time after time decisions go from bad to worse in the lower leagues.

At the end of the season you will see that the big 4 will have loads of decisions in their favour.
When a decision goes for a smaller team against a big 4 team, the manager always kicks up a fuss and never gets into trouble while the referee does.
Paul Jewell got into trouble after the referee failed to give Wigan a penalty at Arsenal last season that would have put them 2-0 up if scored, then Arsenal equalised a few minutes later with an offside goal.

So we now have:
Gained:
Liverpool - 2 points Middlesbrough - 2 points Sunderland - 1 point
Lost:
Aston Villa - 1 point Birmingham - 2 points Fulham - 1 point

It probably will be hard as some decisions are debatable. Luckily the debatable ones so far would've made no difference. The West Ham penalty - should've had one 1st half anyway, should Wigan have had more? - already 3-0. And there looked like a foul in the build up to Portsmouth's first goal but they won by 2 anyway.

but would they have scored them?? Just because you should have been given a penalty doesnt mean the same as a shot that did actaully go over the line

They won so it doesn't matter. I was just making the point they should have had more penalties.

Oh, and it *used* to be clear daylight required, but that's not the case anymore. Unless they flip-flopped again this summer while I wasn't looking...
