So many people stagger their run ups and I don't think I've ever seen anyone have to retake a penalty because of it. I don't agree with them though, they should be banned...

I thought they were banned at one point? It's not fair if it makes the goalie move one way, it should be a straight run up, simple as that.

If anything I heard the Arse goal may have been dubious, but I'll comment more when I see it? Ronaldo had to take the pen twice didn't he? And didn't he have a staggered run up, are they allowed again? That's what I heard. I didn't watch the match, will have to see MOTD.

It was not because of the staggered run-up that it had to be retaken but because by the time he got to actually hit it, Ji-Sung Park had encroached so far he was in front of the ball

I also thought it was because of the staggered run up at first when watching the game. Tbh although staggered run-ups used to bother when they started to creep into the game, it doesn't anymore (im pretty sure Darren Caskey used this to his advantage with his penalties for us). What bothers me more is goalkeepers coming of their line, which imo gives more of an advantage to the goalkeeper than a staggered run up does for the penalty taker. Quite a few wrong decisions from the officials this weekend. Bolton, Villa and Blackburn having goals wrongly ruled out for offside, and as andy mentioned, Arsenal's goal was handball (which was even more obvious when Andy Gray showed it on The Last Word than i first thought). But the only decision that had an impact on the result, as Mark said earlier in the thread, was the dodgy penalty for Man City's first goal.

I fell asleep during MOTD this week...
That's 2 claims for Man City's penalty now...

Glad Liverpool won by two goals, too. Roberts goal wasn't offside, but like earlier in the season Reina had noticed the flag and stopped playing by the time he shot.

Having finally watched the ManU-Arsenal game, my views: 1. Adebayor's goal *was* handball (even if it was very difficult to spot) 2. Gallas did touch the ball with his arm, but you could see that he was trying to get his arm out of the way. Could he have done more to that effect? It's a difficult one, but given Adebayor's handball, wouldn't have made a difference to the result of the match.

Don't think there's been any bad decisions of note recently...
With two games to go this is how it should stand...
Won: Man City - 4 points Liverpool - 2 points Blackburn - 4 points Reading - 2 points Chelsea - 3 points Portsmouth - 2 points Derby - 1 point Birmingham - 1 point
Lost: Arsenal - 1 point Newcastle - 1 point Fulham - 3 points Wigan - 1 point Everton - 4 points Bolton - 1 point Sunderland - 3 points Tottenham - 1 point

How about Birmingham's free-kick against Liverpool on Saturday? Jaidi was stood on the penalty spot, in an offside position, directly in Reina's line of sight, blatantly interfering with play...

Oh yeah I forgot that, it was really weird I though. This week he just stood there, but against Everton he was actually jumping up and down...
