I think United should have kept him, very promising prospect.

To say that Little's move to Pompey came as a surprise would be an understatement! And from listening last week to the interview Little gave to Radio Berkshire at the time of the move it came completely out of the blue for him as well. His 1 yr contract to stay with us was "done and dusted" and he was going to sign it the following day until Pompey came in at the last minute. He sounded sad to be going and found it really hard to tell Coppell he was leaving with the great relationship he had with him and having known him since he was 9 (which i didn't know before). Don't blame him at all for joining Pompey though, he couldn't really have joined a better club, established Prem side and playing European football this season. It really hit home to me what a big move it was for him when he said he'd be playing in the Community Shield against Man U. What Pompey see in an injury-prone right winger who only made a couple of cameo appearances last season after being out for most of the season with an Achilles injury and who is reaching the end of their career i don't really know though. I'd like to see him play for them but i think he's going to struggle to get in their side and he's bound to be injured at some stage of the season. Obviously i'm gutted he's gone. He was my favourite player, my player of the season in our championship winning 05/06 season, and an absolute legend. He was without doubt our most skilful player and we badly missed him last season (right wing was our troublesome position). His return to 1st team action was the main thing i was looking forward to this season Two things stand out for me. The way he absolutely tormented Barry in our 2-0 home win over Villa in 06/07, and his truly sublime goal at Plymouth in the championship winning season. They played that goal in the interview and it came on the day George Best died. In the commentary they said it was a goal fitting of Best himself. Little said it was actually the final goal he scored for us, which hadn't occured to me, that seems ages ago now! In many ways its a shame it came at Plymouth, it was worthy of being scored at a bigger ground. I'm sure he would have played for England if he was younger and had more pace (he wasn't exactly fast!). Anyway, here are a couple of clips of him in action, first one is from when he was at Burnley, some of these goals are stupendous uk.youtube.com/watch?v=T4GGWz7mmng And here's THAT goal at Plymouth uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Q68ch5w8sFY&feature=related

As for Harper, most of the fans seem convinced he's going, but im not so sure. Last week we rejected a £3m bid from Boro and told them to increase it to about £4.5m. This week Arsenal are insisting on the 40% sell on fee that was agreed when we signed him (for 400k in 2001). We're probably now looking for over 5m and anything up to 6m imo. £5.5m was mentioned in one of the papers so thats probably true.
Boro may be willing to stump up 4.5m for him, even though im not sure he's worth that much, and im a big fan of his, but i can't see them being prepared to pay over 5m.
Edit - One thing i forgot to mention is that Harper has a clause in his contract which meant he was automatically transfer listed following relegation.

I can only see Boro paying £4.5m for Harper if we can't get anyone else, and with Digard and Emnes signed, a goalkeeper seems like a higher priority now.

Hleb's off for 11 mill or so, if the Arse lose adebayor as well, they may struggle, do they have a replacement lined up?

Looks like Kitson is off to Stoke for 4m as well. That'll be our best striker joining a Prem side that will be relegated this season then Knew there was something fishy going on when he missed the last 2 reserve games in the last couple of days through an "illness" even when he'd been at training. We have done the decent thing and turned down a bid from Birmingham though, we'd be crazy to sell him to another Championship club, (and he'd be mad himself to join). I don't think this necessarily means we'll sign another striker though. We've coped fine with 3 strikers in the past. In fact last season was i think the first time in the last 3 years we've had all 4 strikers (Kitson, Doyle, Lita, Long) available at the same time. We've also got Simon Church, welsh u21 international, who can provide extra cover. If Doyle or Lita (more likely to leave of the two imo as he only has a year left on his contract, and unlike Doyle he hasn't said he's happy to stay) leave though that would probably change.

Yeah, I saw he was off to Stoke, best add a clause that states he can leave if they are relegated

Hleb's off for 11 mill or so, if the Arse lose adebayor as well, they may struggle, do they have a replacement lined up? Nasri/Walcott? And we've only seen half a season or so of Rosicky... I'm more concerned with the centre of midfield, especially with Gilberto having left aswell, and the centre of defence as always. At the moment I don't think we'll be anywhere near the title this coming season, when we really should be challenging strongly after getting so close last season. We need an experienced CM and an experienced CB for that to happen. Adebayor: today it looks like he's staying, but if we can get £30m+ for him, then we could afford to get Santa Cruz, Barry (I wish) and a CB for the money from selling Hleb and Adebayor. We could just be keeping very quiet about our targets as if they get leaked to the press, you just know that a certain oil franchise will snap them up

Looks like Kitson is off to Stoke for 4m as well. Stoke sign Kitson for £5.5m! He's a decent striker but £5.5m seems like a good bit of business for Reading... Will Cambridge be getting a percentage of that?
