Bradford report from a couple of weeks ago, from a Bradford fan...
Chester City 0-0 Bradford City Coca-Cola League 2 £10 in, £2.50 prog Att: 2735
Two p*ss-poor teams struggled to play any football. I'd blame the wind, but that would be giving unfair credit to the players. Our season is effectively over, and in truth we don't deserve promotion if this is our standard. 1078 Bradfordians were not impressed. Chester have at least got something left to play for. They battled away, but with Grimsby winning again I reckon they'll be playing real football next season.

I applaud Chester if they charge only £10 gate money. Even with that though they only attract 2735 of which over a third were away fans.
I seem to recall that Ian Rush was once manager or assistant manager of Chester. I guess he never quite made it in football management.

That's quite a large proportion of away support!

Chester supporters are currently boycotting their club as a protest against the current owners

Shame that Brentford managed to pull one back right at the last minute against Exeter, still - 4th ain't bad for the moment, but automatic promotion was looking like a very realistic prospect last weekend! Here's the top of the table as it stands with 4 games left: 01 Brentford | 41 | 23 | 73 | 02 Wycombe | 41 | 19 | 71 | 03 Bury | 42 | 16 | 70 |

04 Exeter 42 12 69

05 Rochdale 42 14 68

06 Gillingham 42 0 65

07 Chesterfield 42 9 62
----------------------------------
08 Shrewsbury 42 15 61

09 Bradford 42 9 60

10 Dag & Red 41 18 59

It's still too close to call. I'd love it to be 3 of Brentford, Bury, Exeter and Rochdale going up automatically. Wycombe are probably going up though.

I'd love it to be us going up but it won't be. We just capitulated after Omar Daley got injured against Darlington

Great result for Exeter against Wycombe just about holding onto a 1-0 lead, that takes them into 2nd place and an almost guaranteed playoff place with just 3 games left to play. Luton Town unfortunately drew 0-0 at Chesterfield which sealed their fate of leaving the football league for the first time in 89 years. They really didn't stand a chance after a 30 point deduction at the start of the season!

Luton become the second team in my memory to drop from the top division all the way out of the league, they were last in the top flight in 1992 and were playing 2nd tier football not that long ago.
Is it 3 relegations in a row for them? The only other team to have done that in my memory were Wolves in 1984-86
I just hope we don't become the 3rd such team.

I started watching football in 1986 and two of the teams that were in the top flight that season (three if you count Wimbledon) will be playing non-league football next season (assuming Oxford don't get promoted).

I count Wimbledon as a loose connection, like Telford/AFC Telford, and Scarboro/AFC Scarborough.

Luton were actually the last team to beat us in the Championship up until this season. One of only two teams to do it that season, the other being Plymouth on the opening day. Its amazing how far they've tumbled.

From Easter Sat..
ROTHERHAM UNITED 2 Notts County 1 Football League, Division Two (League Two) Att : 2945 The Don Valley Stadium, Worksop Road, Sheffield Admission : £10.00 (OAP's). Programme : £2.50p. Pies : £2.50p
This was my first visit here and no doubt also the last. Virtually devoid of atmosphere with Rotherham supporters probably getting increasingly worried about where the club will end up. "Options being looked at," was the somewhat dark comment made by a guy I met in a pub before the match. He certainly did not appear to be particularly optimistic. Hopefully, something will turn up.
The game was fairly mundane, although the goals when they came were well taken. Rotherham scored just before half time and again after about 70 minutes. Notts County hit the crossbar with a terrific shot and although their 75th. minute goal was arguably the best of the afternoon, they couldn't maintain the momentum needed to force an equaliser and were wasteful in front of goal.

I was looking at the table, and County should be 5th bottom, because 2 teams below them had points taken off them! Where did County finish last season, and the one before that Robin? For the crowds you get, and the money you spend, you are very poor.

We are poor, lack of investment off the pitch, no youth team, no reserve team, weak management, need I say more!

No youth team is very silly, reserve team I can understand. Not sure if our youth team will continue, as I think we lose money for it next season Just checked your time in the basement league, 19th, 21st, 13th, 21st and this season to come!

Its amazing how far they've tumbled. I just remembered the other day that it was Luton that Boro beat in the final league game at Ayresome Park in 1995. A few days later we were confirmed as Division 1 champions when Bolton lost. Strangely enough, we beat Oxford on the last day of the season in 1998 to clinch promotion again...
