Thought I may as well start its own thread.... Anyone have any predictions? Mine would be Birmingham and QPR to go up automatically with Wolves, Coventry, Reading and Norwich in the Playoffs. Blackpool, Southampton and Derby (I have to!) to go down. Birmingham 1 - 0 Sheff Utd Blackpool 0 - 1 Bristol City Cardiff 2 - 1 Southampton Charlton 2 - 0 Swansea Coventry 2 - 0 Norwich Crystal Palace 0 - 0 Watford Derbynil 0 - 1 Doncaster Ipswich 1 - 2 Preston QPR 2 - 1 Barnsley Plymouth 2 - 2 Wolves Sheff Wed 4 - 1 Burnley With the big game tomorrow! Live on Sky 1pm Kick-off Nottingham Forest vs Reading. I had said we wouldn't lose our first game however I now think if we manage a draw it'll be a fantastic result. We're on TV (never win), have one fit striker (Earnshaw who's tiny) and playing against a decent Reading side who've only lost two of their Premiership squad. I wouldn't recommend anyone to spend two hours watching the game, we're bound to pack the midfield and hoof it aimlessly up to Earnshaw. Look out for Guy Moussi though if you do watch, I've high hopes for him!

Should be a great year because I don't think there any truly small teams left in this league. Every club should be over 10k in attendance this year. I don't see Cov or Norwich in the playoffs. I'd say Sheff Utd and Wed at a push. Blackpool, Plymouth and Derby down? Really can't see Derby doing well here.

As i said in the Predictions thread i think its between Brum, QPR, Wolves and Reading, with the final 2 playoff places being anyone from a number of clubs. I did notice Forest only had one fit striker for the game, which gave me more confidence, but i'd still be happy with a draw even if other fans are expecting us to win. Oh, and we've actually lost 3 players from our Premiership squad including Little, although as he was injured for most of last season i'll forgive you for not noticing that Plus released several other players, one of which was Oster who played quite a lot of games last season.. But again as i haven't got round to mentioning the released players yet you're excused for not knowing that either! Thanks for the tip on Moussi too. Im not that familiar with the Forest team

More than pleased with a 0-0 today. Hope we can bring in a striker soon though as it doesn't look like any of the others will be fit atleast this month. We can't continue to just have Earnshaw on his own. The Smith save from Doyle was good, if only he had more confidence as a keeper. Brilliant shot stopper but he's awful at coming out and commanding!

I tipped Coventry to go down. Last season they made a great start and were top early on and that saved them from relegation as they were very close to the drop. They were in dire financial trouble and as far as I'm aware they haven't come out of it yet. Of course it served them right for getting rid of Dowie.

Yea and Coppell said Smith came back to haunt him. Ex Brentford keeper who Coppell had at Brentford, something which id forgotten. Was a great save, thought Doyle's header was going in, although it would have been harsh, neither side deserved to win. Although i think you'll struggle to score until you get a striker (either back from injury or a new signing) i think you'll be tough to break down and beat, especially at home. Yesterday's match didn't change my pre-season opinion at all, think you'll finish between 6th and 12th. Can't remember but did you say you worked at the City Ground on matchdays?

Atleast their transfers suggest not. Westwood and Eastwood bought in for about £1.5m and none of their transfers out look like players of note. Coleman's just as good if not better than Dowie anyway...

My Championship predictions: Champions: Brum Promoted: Palace Play-offs: Reading, Ipswich, Sheff Utd, Wolves Relegated: Soton, Plymouth, Blackpool
Teams I'll be looking out for: Coventry (Dad's team) - predicted 18th, hopefully not as bumpy a ride as last season Bristol City (Jade's local team) - predicted 13th, I think they'll fade a bit this time around
Week by week, Derby are extending the all-time record for longest winless run. It now stands at 33 matches (32 Prem, 1 Championship), and stretches back to mid-September. Cambridge United had the previous record, a run of 31 Division Two matches in about 1983/84.

Derby only drew again! Please go a year! ;d Coventry, Birmingham and Preston winning 2/2, bizzarre incident with a parachutist in the Burnley - Ipswich match too! 3-1 defeat to Swansea for us, outplayed and two of their goals very lucky. Disappointing, but we can't really play any other way with only one fit striker. Lee Martin is looking like a good addition.

They've got four more matches to go if I've got the date of the Derby 1-0 Newcastle match right (Mon 17 Sep 2007).

I'm all for keeping faith in successful players but Calderwood has been very naive in the transfer market. Yes we may have kept the most clean sheets last year but we're being found out now. Chambers isn't a right back and as much as I love Wes I really don't think he's up to the standard, Bennett as much as I loved him doesn't look as good as last year and Breckin is past it. And to quote Mike Bassett; FOUR FOUR f***ing TWO! PLEASE COLIN! Derby won too.

Another defeat and a draw yesterday leaves us 2nd bottom. I'm not too bothered though, we have three (maybe four, I like Aaron Davies) first teamers injured and of the 7 games we've played 6 of the teams are currently in the top half. The only team who;s in the bottom half is Watford, who we beat!
Next two games are Plymouth and Sheff Wed both away. Really could do with atleast 1 win though, 2 draws would be ok I suppose. Will be there at Hillsbrough in 9 days, my first game for a while.

Even the draw you got against us at home doesn't look that good with our awful away form (just 2 pts in 4 away games)!

We've now got to the rather worrying stage where a win will keep us in the relegation zone (unless it's by 5 goals! haha). We've looked a bit better recently and have only conceded 2 in our last three games, however we've still lost two of them and the only goal we've got in the last 4 was an own goal. We've got three Arsenal youngsters on trial who'll play for the reserves tonight and will hopefully sign on loan, even if the only benefit it brings is competition for places it'll be good. We desperately need players back though as we're lacking firepower badly, Tyson runs his heart out but doesn't seem to have an end product, Cole is about as useful as I'd be and we don't get enough goals from elsewhere. The fact that Own Goal is our top scorer away from home says it all.

I imagine atleast until the Derby game on Nov 2nd which is five games away. If he was going to go soon it would've been in this two week break.
The break could do us well anyway, our problem to start with was conceding, it's not such an issue now with just 4 in the last 4 games. However we can't score. Anderson and Garner played for the reserves on Tuesday and will hopefully play in the friendly against ROI tonight, and Earnshaw will hopefully be fit again too. That'd be a big help as they can all score and would be in the 1st XI.

The problem with sacking anyone now is they cant buy any players til January anyway, they can only do loans!
