Neil Robertson will make his seasonal debut at this weekend's 3rd PTC event. He faces amateur Allan Taylor in the first round. Steve Davis also plays his first event of the season and will play Kurt Maflin. Mark Selby has a possible second round clash with Graeme Dott. Other notable first round matches include: Judd Trump v Michael Holt Mike Dunn v Liang Wenbo Dave Harold v Reanne Evans Jamie Cope v Ken Doherty The line-up also includes Mark Williams, Shaun Murphy, Jimmy White, Tony Drago and Stephen Maguire. whares ronnye von sitting out iz neil robsion von won world champion ship say ronnye won it u think ronnye took break me nayy nooo any news higgions thought sayd want over don boy going on yoo yoooooooooooooooooo damm skippyy upp ggg Looks like Ronnie's having a little break as he's sitting out PTC3 but he has entered PTC4, which takes place in a few weeks. Yes, Neil Robertson won the World Championship and yes, I do think Ronnie would've taken a break if he'd won it. No further news on the Higgins case but it doesn't look like being resolved in time for the Shanghai Masters.

A new event, to be shown on ITV, has been confirmed for October. Power Snooker will see matches lasting half an hour with a host of new rules:
Most points scored in half an wins 20-second shot clock with 20-point penalty for exceeding time limit 9 reds per frame instead of 15 50-point bonus for century breaks Potting middle red triggers a 2-minute powerplay where pots count double
Ronnie O'Sullivan has confirmed his participation, with Neil Robertson, Mark Selby, Ding Junhui, Shaun Murphy, Ali Carter, Jimmy White and Luca Brecel also being lined up.

Listening to Talksport last night when they were talking about Higgins they mentioned "the greatest game of snooker ever played" a 69 break against Jimmy White in 1982 or 1983. Don't think i'd even heard about that before, has anyone ever seen it?

Oops, that should be greatest "frame" of snooker ever played not game, as i'm talking about that specific frame rather than the match which i think Higgins won 17-16 after White had been at 16-15 and 57 up just 1 frame away from winning.

I think in terms of a match winning break under pressure then yes Higgins is up there.I think for pure drama Davis v Taylor 1985 final will never be surpassed

I think I posted a link to it in last season's snooker thread. One of the most amazing breaks you'll ever see: Whether you loved him or loathed him, you can't dispute his genius and he will be a sad loss not just to snooker but sport in general.

The John Higgins match-fixing case will be heard in early September. The outcome of the case could hinge on whether the News of the World hands over the unedited versions of its tapes.
They reportedly agreed to do so previously on the condition Higgins and Mooney agreed not to sue them. Higgins and Mooney refused.
