Lady Gaga reveals plans for Born This Way album
22:22 GMT, Monday, 20 December 2010 BBC Entertainment By Greg Cochrane[/b]
Lady Gaga has told Newsbeat her new album, Born This Way, will be her "most innovative" work so far.
Speaking backstage on the final night of her UK Monster Ball tour, she confirmed an as-yet-untitled new single would be released in February 2011, with the album arriving "shortly after".
She described the album as "a marriage of electronic music with major, epic, dare I even say, metal or rock 'n' roll, pop, anthemic style melodies with really sledge-hammering dance beats."
"It's finished and all, it's just fine-tuning everything," the pop megastar added. "It's kind of like the post-operative stage of the album. I've already done the full heart surgery. I'm just sewing myself back up again," she laughed.
During the gig she showcased one new song set to appear on the album, You And I, a piano-led rock song featuring a Guns N' Roses-style guitar solo.
"I think that lyrically this album is more poetic," she explained. "It's really written by the fans, they really wrote it for me because every night they're funnelling so much into me.
"So I wrote it for them. Born This Way is all about my little monsters and me, mother monster," she continued. Lady Gaga Gaga said she would perform her new single on UK TV in 2011.
The London gig rounded off a very successful 2010 for the singer, which saw her winning three Brit awards, two Grammys and eight prizes at the MTV Video Music Awards.
And with the Monster Ball tour due to resume in north America, Canada, and Mexico from February to May 2011, Gaga is not expected to tour with a new production in the UK again until 2012.
"It's the last time I'm going to perform here until you guys hear Born This Way," she said before the gig. "It's very exciting,"
But the pop megastar revealed she will be in the UK "between February and March 2011" to debut her as-yet-untitled new single on TV.
Great news, I can't wait. So a performances at the 2011 BRIT Awards is a near certainty?

I'm very much looking forward to hearing this, but at the same time, GaGa is beginning to get on my nerves. She seems a little too arrogant and sanctimonius. She should let the music speak for itself as opposed to hyping it up.

^ completely agree! She's being sucked into her own hype by the looks of it, and that's a recipe for destruction.

Lady Gaga To Make 'Born This Way' Announcement On New Years Eve She tells fans... December 26, 2010 by Jason Gregory Gigwise.com
Lady Gaga is set to make an announcement about her new album ‘Born This Way’ on New Years Eve (December 31).
The singer said the new details about the album was her Christmas present to her fans.
In a message on Twitter, she wrote: “Merry Christmas little monsters! I love you with all my heart.
“My gift to you is a ‘Born This Way’ announcement Midnight on New Years Eve.”
The singer said recently that the follow-up to 'The Fame Monster' was finished and would be released following a new single in February 2011.
She also described the lyrics as “more poetic” than her previous album and said it had been written for her fans.
In separate news Iman Bowie supermodel wife of the now reclusive David Bowie made an appearance on Nate Berkus' US chat show, where she revealed amongst other things that David has heard the album and is hugely impressed by it.
Sorry, but if music legends Elton John & David Bowie think the second Lady Gaga album is great, then chances are it is a great album; just like the hype surrounding the last Kanye West album turned out to be true.

GaGa has tweeted that the first single will be out in February, but we have to wait until May for the LP

The single release is as expected, but I think May is far too late for the album. I think it's going to be a little agonising waiting for that long, especially as this album has been hyped up since as early as this time last year. Could get very fatiguing hearing continuous anticipation and hype, yet not the music.

Had she released in March she would have got a lot of hate and criticism for clashing with Britney's next album out in March 2011. This way she can get two global monster hit singles out the way before the album is released.

I guess she was afraid to go up against Britney in march To be honest I think she would be more concerned about the joint Kanye West/Jay-Z album "Watch The Throne" out in March 2011.

From A Rolling Stone magazine shoot: And as for Jay-Z ..... well GaGa could always get on the "Telephone" or "Videophone" to his Mrs.

The lyrics have leaked:
BORN THIS WAY WRITTEN BY: LADY GAGA PRODUCED BY: LADY GAGA, FERNANDO GARIBAY, DJ WHITE SHADOW MIXED AND ENGINEERED BY: DAVID RUSSEL
INTRO: It doesn’t matter if you love him, or capital H-I-M Just put your paws up ’cause you were Born This Way, Baby
VERSE: MY MAMA TOLD ME WHEN I WAS YOUNG WE ARE ALL BORN SUPERSTARS
SHE ROLLED MY HAIR AND PUT MY LIPSTICK ON IN THE GLASS OF HER BOUDOIR
“THERE’S NOTHIN WRONG WITH LOVIN WHO YOU ARE” SHE SAID, “‘CAUSE HE MADE YOU PERFECT, BABE”
“SO HOLD YOUR HEAD UP GIRL AND YOU’LL GO FAR, LISTEN TO ME WHEN I SAY”
CHORUS: I’M BEAUTIFUL IN MY WAY ‘CAUSE GOD MAKES NO MISTAKES I’M ON THE RIGHT TRACK BABY I WAS BORN THIS WAY
DON’T HIDE YOURSELF IN REGRET JUST LOVE YOURSELF AND YOU’RE SET I’M ON THE RIGHT TRACK BABY I WAS BORN THIS WAY

REPEAT CHORUS + POST-CHORUS
BRIDGE:
DON’T BE A DRAG, JUST BE A QUEEN WHETHER YOU’RE BROKE OR EVERGREEN YOU’RE BLACK, WHITE, BEIGE, CHOLA DESCENT YOU’RE LEBANESE, YOU’RE ORIENT WHETHER LIFE’S DISABILITIES LEFT YOU OUTCAST, BULLIED, OR TEASED REJOICE AND LOVE YOURSELF TODAY ‘CAUSE BABY YOU WERE BORN THIS WAY
NO MATTER GAY, STRAIGHT, OR BI, LESBIAN, TRANSGENDERED LIFE I’M ON THE RIGHT TRACK BABY I WAS BORN TO SURVIVE NO MATTER BLACK, WHITE OR BEIGE CHOLA OR ORIENT MADE I’M ON THE RIGHT TRACK BABY I WAS BORN TO BE BRAVE
REPEAT CHORUS
OUTRO/REFRAIN:
I WAS BORN THIS WAY HEY! I WAS BORN THIS WAY HEY! I’M ON THE RIGHT TRACK BABY I WAS BORN THIS WAY HEY!
I WAS BORN THIS WAY HEY! I WAS BORN THIS WAY HEY! I’M ON THE RIGHT TRACK BABY I WAS BORN THIS WAY HEY!
Really am torn on the lyrics. It's a good message, but at times, it's a little too crude. I prefer it when GaGa sings in metaphor etc. as opposed to this style. At times it's a little cringy, but I think it could sound good based on the music.
Curious to hear it, anyway.

"Her phenomenal new single BTW will propel Gaga's fearless, inventive, sex-charged pop juggernaut through at least another 18 months....A confident, stylish equality anthem likely to raise a few eyebrows and, most importantly it's got a cracking tune."
- Peter Robinson, Popjustice.
Mind you (like many Guardian & the Word readers) I've criticised his opinions on Pop music numerous times in the past 5 years so .....

Lady Gaga announced at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve that her next single, "Born This Way," would debut on Feb. 13, but fans might just get to hear it two days earlier than expected. "Can't wait any longer, single coming Friday," the pop star wrote on Twitter this morning (Feb. 7). Gaga is clearly anxious for the world to experience her latest pop opus: last month, she personally leaked the song's lyrics and credits on Twitter as a thank-you to her fans. DJ White Shadow, who is listed as the single's producer along with Gaga and Fernando Garibay, told Billboard.com last Wednesday (Feb. 2) that the song was recorded "around the world" and that it "sounds like it reads, but not like you think until you hear it." If "Born This Way" is indeed released on Friday (Feb. 11), it will come out on the same day that another pop star, Justin Bieber, enjoys a big premiere -- the release of his 3D biopic, "Never Say Never." Whether or not the single debuts before the weekend, Lady Gaga is still scheduled to perform the first single from sophomore album "Born This Way," due out May 23, at the Grammy awards ceremony on Sunday (Feb. 13). www.billboard.com/news/lady-gaga-born-this-way-single-coming-friday-1005024222.story

Lady Gaga previews Born This Way
Singer's third album tackles immigration and gay marriage – with inspiration from Guns N' Roses, Madonna and the Ronettes
* Rosie Swash * guardian.co.uk, Thursday 10 February 2011 13.23 GMTThe new Lady Gaga album will sound like Guns N' Roses, Madonna and the Ronettes, according to one of the first journalists to hear it. Born This Way, the 24-year-old singer's third album, isn't due until May 2011, but American Vogue writer Jonathan Van Meter was given a preview during an interview with the singer. Describing Gaga's first single, also called Born This Way, Van Meter compares it to "a Madonna tune (that) switches into something that feels a bit like a Bronski Beat hit and then finally transforms into its own thing: a Gaga original." According to Gaga, Elton John said the track is the "gayest song" he has ever heard. The singer goes on to describe how she wrote Born This Way in 10 minutes, and that in doing so "the gates just opened and the songs kept coming. It was like an immaculate conception." She adds that the album itself was inspired by the "disenfranchised communities" of America. Reviewing a handful of other songs from the 17-track album, Van Meter writes: "Second single Judas (out 16 May) is, typically, a mashup: the melody sounds like it was written for the Ronettes, but it is set to a sledgehammering dance beat and is about falling in love with backstabbing men of the biblical variety." A song called Americano is described by Gaga as being: "A big mariachi techno-house record, where I am singing about immigration law and gay marriage and all sorts of things that have to do with disenfranchised communities in America." Edith Piaf, Bruce Springsteen and Guns N' Roses are all cited by Van Meter as inspiration for the songs. The pop star is said to have written most of the album while on tour during the last 18 months. Her manager, Troy Carter, said: "We would have a conversation backstage about something, and the next day she'd play me a song relating to the conversation that we just had." Gaga describes Born This Way as a "giant musical-opus theatre piece". The single Born This Way is released on 11 February and the album is out on 23 May. The interview with Lady Gaga can be found in the current issue of American Vogue.

She needs to learn it's quality over quantity. That music video goes on for FAR too long just because of the cheap and child like intro story.
