I don't see much of a similarity between those 2 BUT even if there were a strong similarity had the internet been the force it is now then there may have been the same outcry, the difference is that the option wasn't available for there to have been anything like the same level of public discourse there is now Plus also i don't recall Debbie Gibson promising us the album of the decade and thousands of her acolytes flooding the internet telling us how innovative she is. Zero similarity in the 2 cases in my opinion

Well their track record speaks for itself: Mark Ellen & David Hepworth former writers for the NME; Sounds; Time Out magazines set up their (now named) Development Hell publishing company along with their dance music critic mate Jerry Perkins. Their first project for EMAP was the setting up of the fortnightly music magazine Smash Hits in 1978, which went on to overtake the NME to become the leading selling music magazine in the early 1980s in the UK; ..... in 1986 they sold their stake in that magazine to set Q magazine .... which went on to become the biggest circulating music magazine in the UK ...... but in 1993 they sold their stake in that magazine to set up Mojo magazine .... which went on to become the biggest circulating magazine in the UK ...... in 2003 they left to set up The Word magazine .... which went on to become the biggest circulating magazine in the UK. In addition their publishing company set up Empire magazine; Heat magazine & their mate Jerry Perkins runs Mixmag via their publishing company. Also David Hepworth & Mark Ellen were the presenters of The Old Grey Whistle Test between 1982-1987; and most famously hosted the presentation of Live Aid back in 1985. During their time as Editor & Lead Contributor of their respective magazines; their magazines under their watch have won Music Magazine Of The Year 17 times in over three decades. In short, to dismiss that is like saying Sir Alex Ferguson does not have a clue at picking a football team & tactics, and hence EMAP knows whatever the pair do they have a loyal following of mainly male 30/40/50 somethings who highly value their critiques. Hence, if they say Gaga's new album is great, then that will increase the chances of that older more affluent male audience spending a tenner on the album in HMV; or ordering it off Amazon. Especially as they were the one British magazine to state that U2's No Line On The Horizon wasn't very good ... which the revisionist conscientious of music critics & U2 & Brian Eno themselves agrees with. No one asked for an essay. Why you feel the need to try and contradict someones opinion is bizzare. That's really not how opinions work... but you feel free to learn what to think by reading magazines and other reviews. I guess their are too many words in my post for your brain to entertain. Sorry, but I leave spamming to you. If you can't see as I've clearly demonstrated that they have a great track record of calling pop culture's zeitgeist then you are truly more dumb than I gave you credit for. I've yet to buy the album, so I can't comment on the quality of the music I certainly did not rate highly at all their 2010 Y/E #1 album The National - High Violet. Certainly compared to the other albums in their Y/E Top 5 by Janelle Monáe; Beach House; Kanye West & Arcade Fire which are gems IMHO. But they've never snubbed great pop music hence why they ranked Britney Spears - Blackout as the 3rd best album of 2007. Anyway here is a review for you to fully agree with .... a big fat Zero Star review: www.tinymixtapes.com/music-review/lady-gaga-born-way

It's not a sign of un-intelligence to choose not to read that much garbage from someone like you. You think far too highly of yourself and it's extremely pitiful.

After reading the review behind that link, I'm so confused I'm amazed I still know my own name.

I think people should form their own opinion instead of blindly following reviews... I still remember when Q gave Stadium Arcadium a 5*****, how much would that have costed the record company?? and what was the Debbie Gibson comparison?? didn't get that, Gaga is more in the Sinitta territory musically than DG's

I think people should form their own opinion instead of blindly following reviews... Completely agree. He's even said himself that he's yet to listen to the album, but still feels the need to counter our (people who have listened to it) opinions with reviews. And I quite liked Stadium Arcadium But probably not worthy a 5* rating imo.

Anyone seen this from SNL? It's absolutely brilliant! Possibly the best thing I've seen all year.

Bought the album, and I'm kinda disappointed. I love Marry the Night, Hair, Scheisse, You and I and The Edge of Glory.
However, a lot of the songs seem to lack much of a hook and kind of get lost in their own production or seem like Gaga was so fixated on having a 'cool title' that she forgot to write the song. Hoping it'll grow on me.

I listened to the stream on Metro and won't be buying. I'm not saying it's not well done (it is) but it's just not my thing at all. Now, if Amazon UK had followed their US brethren's lead and sold at 99p/c I would probably have bought it, lol.

If she does something like this at Britan's Got Talent Final, she will finally get a #1 hit from a new album.
