Twisted Wheel - Lucy The Castle
This Manchester band are touring with The View at the moment, with their new take on rock music. This track has interesting lyrics and a catchy beat, similar to many other bands around at the moment, but they add something which makes it a lot better.

Sneaky Sound System - UFO
Sneaky Sound System are back with another single from their 2006 self-named album. Although the album has never been released in the UK, the Australian based dance group are flying high in the charts with their singles. This futuristic sounding single is a little electro, but not over the top. It has a catchy beat but needs adding to as the lyrics are quite repetitive.

Nickelback - Gotta Be Somebody
I'm going to rock the boat with this review as Nickelback aren’t the favourite band of some of my fellow reviewers. This single, however, is powerful and very pleasing to the ear while being lyrically quite emotive. For once, Nickelback have produced a single that is pretty much top notch.

The Killers - Human
Released on vinyl and digital formats, The Killers are taking a little risk on Human. The first single from their forthcoming album Day and Age is probably edging more towards glam rock than they have ever before. It has the bouncy synthesised sounds you expect on a Killers single, and what can only be described as interesting lyrics. “Are we human or are we dancer?” which makes little sense, but that should be expected from the band that wrote “I have soul but I am not a soldier”

Duffy - Rain On Your Parade
Rain On Your Parade is Duffy's fifth single from the Rockferry album. It has her powerful vocals written all over it and for such a petit person it is surprising how she has such vocal strength. If anything this is an even better single then Mercy, which is still (at time of writing) the highest selling of single of 2008.

John Barrowman - What About Us
This man appears to be overflowing with talent, everything he touches he is fantastic at! (Not that I am at all jealous... well, maybe just a little bit) Listening to this I start to think of Ronan Keating because it is of a similar style, but Mr Barrowman is infinitely more talented!

Craig David - Insomnia
Craig David has taken a bashing from my fellow reviewer Darren on a few occasions, well I am going to buck the trend and defend Insomnia. The synthesised beats makes for an intro that will catch your ear immediately. I am not going to try and kid you by saying is going to become a classic, but it does lift its head above the normal and hum drum.

Death Cab For Cutie - No Sunlight
You often hear that quality and not quantity is what counts, and you could definitely use that logic here. Don’t be fooled by the uptempo melody, this is pure Death Cab encapsulating the bleak reality most of us face when we see gloom descending in our life. Death Cab at their very best.

Delirious - Love Will Find a Way
Two a penny ‘indie’ bands are the staple diet of Britain’s music industry at the moment, add Delirious to that list. Truly uninspiring, nothing new or anything that could claim to be unique, but then again we wouldn’t want to shock the masses!

Fall Out Boy - Folie á Deux
Fall Out Boy’s fifth album comes our way at this very late stage of 2008. After success with From Under the Cork Tree and Infinity on High in 2005 and 2007 respectively this album is highly tipped to bring more success, but have they delivered?
Starting off with the oddly, but very interesting titled single; Disloyal Order Of Water Buffaloes. This has that catchy start needed for an album, with the chorus lines “Detox just to retox”, it’s a very memorable track. It has the flair seen from past albums. I Don't Care follows which sounds quite similar to previous singles such as This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race. It has the similar repeating chorus, which seems to pattern many Fall Out Boy’s tracks.
There are a few different tracks on the album like America's Suitehearts. It is a lot slower, more ballady and deep down, heartfelt lyrics. Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet has a little more rocky feel to it, but quite often the vocals seem disjointed, as Patrick Stump tries to fir the lyrics into the rhythm and into the backing instruments. Somehow this is pulled off pretty smoothly.
There are a couple of joint efforts on this album. What A Catch, Donnie features Elvis Costello, as well as lead singers from Panic At The Disco, Gym Class Heros and several others. Tiffany Blews features Lil Wayne and Alex DeLeon.
The album falls down in some places, but is soon picked up by a few good tracks. All in all, if you were a fan of Fall out Boy, you still will be. Will this bring new fans along? I’m not really sure.
Pick of the pops is Disloyal Order Of Water Buffaloes.

Sander van Doorn vs Robbie Williams - Close My Eyes
So, Sander van Doorn has taken this track from Robbie Williams back catalogue and remixed it. This is a bit of a generic dance track, so if you love dance, you'll love this! It has a catchy beat to it, but the synthised voice that continues on is slightly too long. I still think that Sander Van Doorn has a good future ahead of him.

Röyksopp - Melody A.M.
Released 8th October 2001, this was the début album from the Norwegian DJ duo. Back then, they were a little known band but this is a hidden gem that started to get Röyksopp noticed.
The album starts off with So Easy, originally released in 1999. It’s quite a fast paced tune for the album and sets it up well. Eple follows, most noted for its use by Apple for a TV advert. It is a lively and catchy track. For being classed as a down tempo genre, this proves otherwise.
Sparks follows with catchy lyrics this time. In Space is appropriately titled as it has a spaced out feel to it: very much a chill out track.
Poor Leno follows, maybe the most well known track off this album, with a fantastic video to boot. A Higher Place adds an extra dimension to the album with added synthetics and beats.
The last track I will mention is Royksopp's Night Out, maybe the finest one on the album, which I am surprised never made it as a released single. Although it is 7 and half minutes, it would have still sold well!
This is one wonderful classic album which can perform two roles. At higher volumes it is a get up and go dance album but at lower volumes a complete chill out album just to put all stresses into yonder.
For this reason I award Melody A.M. a superb…:

Maxïmo Park - The Kids Are Sick Again
Maxïmo Park offer a music to dance to, music to sing to and music to cry to. Back with their 3rd album, but will they keep up the sound that fans have loved for years.
Thankfully they have bringing us a very characteristic single with fantastic lyrics; what you expect from these guys.

Passion Pit - The Reeling
So in the year of 2008 we had the arrival of MGMT with their vibrant upbeat tunes. In the year of 2009 we have Passion Pit. An excellent summer song to get you right in the mood for all things hot and sunny. Watch out for the album released 18th May called Manners.

The Prodigy - Warrior's Dance
The second single off the latest album pops up this banging tune. After the great return with Omen, Warrior's Dance just magnifies their brilliance to come back by double. The vocals fit in perfectly with the techno/trance. One of the best tracks of the year so far.

Deadmau5 - I Remember
Another dance track for this week, and one that is justifiably competing for one of the best around there at the moment. A very chilled out and upbeat tune. One that I feel will be large all summer long, just has that summer feeling. The vocals add to the chilled out feeling, pleasantly there, but not overpowering or screechy.

Alesha Dixon - Let's Get Excited
After an amazing comeback all speared from Strictly Come Dancing, Alesha Dixon pops up with a third single from the Alesha Show album: Let's Get Excited, and tell you what, I am. After hearing this song without the knowledge of who and what it was in a shop a couple of weeks ago I perked up and thought, wow, a decent song in a shop!
Anyway, now with that knowledge my opinions of Alesha Dixon have raised. From slow and sultry songs with the aid of rather sexy videos, we now get something to listen to while looking.

Madness - Dust Devil
Well, well, well, the origins of ska return after 2 decades from the breakup with a new single, from a new album. Unfortunately with age the band seem to have lost the ability to produce new material with the flare seen in the 80's but then hasn't everything changed sine the 80's?
It is a solid song, nothing too flamboyant but well worth listening too.

Lily Allen - Not Fair
With the return of Lily brings the return to controversial lyrics. If Not Fair was a film would be 18 rated, with saucy scenes every 10 minutes, but singing does not have certificates, just radio 1 to bleep bits out.
This is a very (as is everything else by Lily) catchy track, as well as quite a laugh.

The Veronicas - Untouched
The Veronicas are an Aussie female duo, who surprisingly are both called Veronica and more amazingly are sisters! (That must get confusing when getting told off!)
Anyway, this little tune has the makings of a big hit with great vocals, lyrics and the use of string instruments. The song is full of energy; a great pop-dance track.
I expect big things from this song.
