I also wanted to say Blackbox "Ride On Time" as an all-rounder.... I hated that song at the time and I still do. Godawful screechy rubbish.

It's a good job I didn't then.
Hmmmm... Housemartins or The Beautiful South? "A Little Time"?

I personally think that some people exaggerate a bit, especially at youtube, and hit the 'dislike' button in a silly way... I mean, you check someone little known like Ray Lamontagne, check some live version of a random album track and there's always some 'dislike'... come on, if you don't like the guy, what are you doing checking such a rare track?

Believe me, from experience of doing lots of music for parties and things the song or artist that is universally liked doesn't exist. However, I would say that the genre that is disliked by the fewest people has to be sixties soul and Motown music, like (Sittin on) the dock of the bay, I heard it through the grapevine or I say a little prayer.

I personally don't necessarily 'like' music like that, but I do appreciate and respect it.

How can anyone hate Heard It Through The Grapevine? Or any Marvin Gaye song? I think you may be right with that point.

I think Fleetwood Mac's Go Your Own Way is a song that I can't imagine many people hating... *waits for people to prove me wrong*

I don't think you'll find a song nobody dislike. I only had the feeling that nobody disliked Roxette back in the 90s, but then, a couple of weeks after thinking that, a friend of mine told me he hated them, there you go....
I do HATE ABBA. I don't like The Beatles, and well, I can understand they were the most influencial band, everything I like come from artists who listened to The beatles, but I just don't like them. I just think they didn't have any personality, I can see something unique in Elvis, even if I am not a fan. While I can respect the position of The Beatles in music history, I just can't understand what people see in ABBA's music, just odd.

I'm not a Motown fan but those three songs are absolute classics. A pedant writes - Only one of those is actually Motown though, so maybe that helps. As for Marvin, I have no difficulty at all in hating 'Sexual Healing' but most of the stuff from his classic period is, well, classic. I think you're probably onto something with the 60s soul being the least disliked type of music, even if not the most liked. Quite a few of the other songs/acts that have been mentioned here fall into the category of OK-but-I'm-really-sick-of-them-now for me.

Sometimes its not a case of the song being judged but the artist. If you don't particularly like the artist then the chances are you won't like any of their songs. Myself I tend to judge the song on it's own merits. There are lots of artists I just don't like ( Michael Jackson to pick one), but I will admit to liking Billy Jean & Beat it.
