Madonna's new album is due in 'spring 2012'www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/14789399Page last updated at 10:55 GMT, Monday, 5 September 2011 11:55 UK Madonna has revealed that she plans to release her 12th studio album in "spring 2012". Speaking in Venice, where the movie she directed W.E was being premiered, the singer said she had already done "a little bit of work" on the album. She added that following the release of the film she will return to New York where she will be recording "until the end of the year". Her last album Hard Candy was released in 2008. The 53-year-old told Swedish television network Sveriges Television that the first single for the album will be released in February or March 2012. It will be her first album since parting ways with record label Warner Brothers - she has now signed a new deal with entertainment firm Live Nation. What are your hopes for the album? And are you disappointed it won't be released in the last few months of 2011?

No I'm glad it will be released early on in the year so we can see her on the best selling year end list instead of releasing it in November like she did with Immaculate Collection, would of been the best seller of the year then.
I hope she releases some proper dance stuff and a nice ballad or two, absolutely NO R&B, Hard Candy is the only album I have never purchased and never will.
I'm sure the crappest radio station that is ageist Radio 1 will not put Madonna on her playlist anyway.

It's about time! I'm hoping something along the lines of Ray Of Light/American Life/Confessions/Hard Candy. Yeah I said it! HARD CANDY!

BIG BALLAD PLEASE.
Or just forget it. I don't think I could bear another Hard Candy era.

Anything new from her would be great. I get fed up with hearing people say she's a 'has-been' as she hasn't had anything out for a couple of years. People are so fickle.

Very pleased that it is next year and not rushed out for the xmas rush. Agree with everyone it needs to be pop/dance and not r&b based

OK, so we know about the next single (thumbs up that it includes M.I.A; thumbs down it includes rent-a-female-rapper Nicki Minaj); and the Superbowl performance ....
But this on Madonna Producer's William Orbit Facebook page has got me intrigued:
I’m at the Virgin Atlantic lounge at JFK. Ready to crash right out on my night flight to London. On a bed. Feels like a heck of a lot has been achieved. Wish I could say more but you know, mums’s the word. For now. Won’t be long and all will be revealed. And more than just the specific project that has got a lot of you buzzing.I’ll be honest, am feeling a little burnt out tonight. After these intense weeks. But I’ll be right back on it after a couple of good night’s sleep and a few bevvies with friends + family at the Groucho. Looking forward to rotating back to the real world. It’s rather an unreal life bubble. Recording Studios, edit suites, hotels, airports, plane cabins, car services. All running 24 hours. As if the cycle of day and night did not exist. Soon I’ll take a step out into the wild natural world and feel the season. Breathe the winter air and absorb the silence (and not the absolute silence of the studio, but the silence of the animal kingdom, dreaming). But MSR has been great studio to work in. Situated in a side street just off the bright lights of Times square. A nondescript door above a dilapidated music shop that opens onto a warren of studios, coridors and unused spaces. Three old buildings welded together in the heart of mid-town Manhattan, only half of the space being used (stumbled into an derelict strip club the other day when I was exploring the building) Working through the night. Bass pounding at times enough to lift the chair off the floor. Or total silence apart from the clicking of computer keys. Am being a bit rambling now as I sit here, with a couple of beers, and a Jameson, with Alan, my trusty PA and good friend, looking forward to getting back home. He’s sorted out the shipping, freight, paperwork, transportation, in conjunction with AAM, and I’m in zombie mode. Him too, really, as our mission for the moment is done., We’re ’ghosts’ as our engineer, Demo, put it. ‘Thousand yard stare’. But feeling like that we’ve part of a special moment in all of our careers. Including M’s. Who, I have to say has amazed me anew in unexpected ways during the last few months. It was great earlier tonight to head downtown and see all the wonderful folk at my management company (AAM). Andy Kipnes (my manager) and Ross Donadio also discussed with me my new Strange Cargo album which is all but finished. And some other song projects that I will pick up one once M’s and my new album are mastered at the end of this month So over and out now for a while. Offline for a couple of days. Btw. Who’s going to be in Las Vegas at New Years? I’ve booked the Studio at Palms Casino, Las Vegas again this year. Witrh Jean Baptiste, Priscilla Renea, Swedish House Mafia, and other friends and songwriting pals. For a week of partying and writing. Just like the week we had last new-years, which kicked everything off. They’re calling my flight now See you all again soon! W
Now I know I'm probably putting 2 + 2 together and coming up with 14; but where he has dropped in a couple of possible song title references for M's 2012 album could 'Ghosts' possibly be a cover/reworking of this gem:
After all 'Ghosts' was produced by James Sanger (a former programmer for one William Orbit); and that (UK#92 2007 for which that track was the title track) album was also co-produced by Marcus De Vries (another former Madonna cohort).
After all Her Madgesty has covered a relatively obscure Bjork song before.

Pleased to hear this is pop/dance in nature and that Benny Benassi and Martin Solveig are involved

Pleased to hear this is pop/dance in nature and that Benny Benassi and Martin Solveig are involved I'm not that excited as that suggests she's going for something a bit generic. Like Bowie, Madonna's best work for me has when she has been at her most adventurous musically (Like A Prayer; Ray Of Light albums). She or her people (although I've seen former Sire Records head Seymour Stein take the credit before) have an uncanny knack of finding the ear candy in each album to mine the most suitable tracks as singles album, after album, after album that no other major artist in the world of music has ever done. But it is often the album tracks that make Madonna great, and her albums interesting to listen to repeatedly (which her last album Hard Candy was not probably as it was un Madonna like and totally generic).

hoping for a Minaj-free version of the single that woman is pure evil and the worst rapper in history, yes, worst than MC Hammer & Vanilla Ice combined

It depends how badly Madonna wants to get a big hit in the US. She will get zero airplay unless there is a young artist featured on her single i fear

Still this. But a Martin Solveig collab has certainly got me interested. (Although not so much with Nicki Minaj).

I'm not expecting anything less than generic right now.

Madonna should create trends... not follow trends... that already happened with Hard Candy by recruiting Timbaland 3 years too late so for me, getting that Nicki Minaj is the lowest one can go...

Very promising if these are genuine. She has been known to issue spoilers in the past
