wow, never knew you were such a huge foals fan!
for me, it's a toss-up between elbow and biffy clyro. i love elbow and they've been getting better and better with their success, which is a rare thing and great to see, but the reason i hesitate is because my favourite album by them is now 11 years old. biffy clyro are a band whose music always entertains me and i'm always excited to see what they come up with next.

ha, funny that - i feel quite similarly about foals. i really loved 'cassius' and 'balloons' and i did buy their debut album but i haven't listened to it in aaaaages. i can remember not being that impressed by the thing as a whole and unfortunately that put me off giving their later stuff a chance. maybe i should rethink that. as for elbow, as much as i love their recent albums, for me their standout work is still their debut album, 'asleep in the back' which is quite different from the more joyous stuff they've become known for recently. it's really really great, probably my favourite album of all time. if you buy or listen to anything by them you should definitely check that album out

For me I am kind of similar to Jade as Biffy Clyro are my number one band but if we have to be strict and only count bands that started since 2002 it would be probably be The Killers or Arcade Fire.

I usually listen more to solo singer/songwriters rather than bands (Damien Rice, The Tallest Man, Ben Howard, Sufjan Stevens,...) so I don't have many fav bands... my #1 is probably Angus & Julia Stone <3 followed by Sigur Ros

The Pipettes. Not only the absolute best debut album since 1987, the absolute best live act I have ever seen.

It was a shame they never got a proper chance to follow that debut album but maybe they were always going to be band who were only good for an album. Seen them loads of times live and it could well be into double figures. Pull Shapes is a fantastic song and their best by a long way. There were three bands who all had some success at the same time who I was really into them, The Long Blondes and Little Man Tate and they all played one after another at Reading 07 on the Main Stage. It was like they had read my mind. Little Man Tate were probably my favourites though as they did 2 great albums and plenty of great b-sides along the way. They also did the gig that is number 2 in my top gigs so it has to be them.

Ditto. There was a tremendous burst of creativity circa 2005-6 where a load of acts produced a load of great material - but when they should have been given support for their follow-ups they were maliciously and malignantly ignored by the mainstream media in favour of the Fix Factor famewhores or industry test-tube creations like Allen or Adele. Or The Kooks. My God.

Wow, this question has made me think to myself just how few bands I listen to that have emerged in the last 10 years. Editors and Arcade Fire are most definitely 2 of them though.

It was almost like Britpop with loads of indie in the charts and on the radio. Quite a few of those bands are actually still going, but they just dont sell anymore. Having said that some of them dont deserve to sell much as the output is poor. I was lucky enough to be living in Leeds in 2006 and I made it to a 100 gigs that year, most by bands I liked and wanted to see (it became a target in the end so I did end up going to some random gigs as well). Even though I live in London now I wouldnt get anywhere near to wanting to go to 100 gigs such is the state of indie music right now.

i never really got into the pipettes. i remember hearing 'pull shapes' and not liking it, but that was way back i can't even remember when... Your Kisses Are Wasted On Me was an immense tune, but I never really liked anything else I heard as much. I honestly don't know what my favourite band of the last 10 years would be. I might have to go with The Gaslight Anthem since they formed in 2006 and fit the criteria... although Paramore, You Me At Six, Kids In Glass Houses and A Day To Remember all fit the bill too. If it wasn't limited to bands, Frank Turner would win by a huge margin. I will never get tired of listening to his music, ever.

Personally, a bit of a boring and obvious answer but it has to be Arcade Fire.

another one i forgot and who deserve at the very least an honourable mention - bloc party. hands down one of the best debut albums of the decade, and then they followed it with the utterly brilliant 'weekend in the city'. great band.

^ Oh yes, and Metric, there's another one I forgot to add. Their (imho) brilliant latest single has inspired me to listen to their earlier material, and it's all great.
