I think you can count Andy Murray out - he's not coming to the event instead staying in Florida to practise plus he lost in the semis at the O2.
Besides Wiggins will just have picked up a lot of sympathy votes.

I think all the Olympians and para Olympians should get it as a whole. Every one of them deserves it.

Wiggins now looks nailed on, and like i said in the tennis thread i'm not even certain Murray will be Top 3 now, possibly depends on how big a factor not being at the event is.

Having just won the individual Omnium plus the team pursuit golds at the World Track Championships in addition to her Olympic golds I would think Laura Trot will gain a top 12 place.

It wasn't the World Championship, it was a World Cup event, a bit like a Masters tennis tournament, or a Diamond League athletics meeting. I think Laura will still get in the top 12, anyway.

Thanks for the heads up, mrh. I wasn't apyiong too much attention and heard the World bit on the sports bulletin and picked it up wrongly. Now I think of it the World Champs weer at the beginning of the year in Australia and GB did well but not spectacularly. Maybe others will get the wrong impression too!

At the World Championships GB did about as well as they did at the Olympics, in the events were at the Olympics (6 golds vs. 7 I think). They weren't really bothered about the rest in Olympic year.

This has gotta be won by Jessica Ennis. I agree - Wiggins doesn't have the universal likability factor IMO.

Did I hear that the final list is being unveiled on BBC1 One show on Monday?

Yes, by Mr. Lineker himself, apparently.

Looks like the shortlist is going to be revealed in several stages in an attempt to trick people into watching The One Show...

As expected a very strong list and you can't really argue against any of them. Nicola Adams is a perhaps a bit of a "let's bump up the female quota" choice (I would've had Alistair Brownlee, instead) but all are more than worthy of inclusion.
Laura Trott would've made it in any other year but I just don't think they wanted 4 cyclists on the list.

Katherine Grainger - emotive and worthy choice but perhaps the most unexpected.

I made a list of 12 at work before I left today and the only one I didn't have on there was Nicola Adams. I had a feeling Katherine Grainger's story would get her on the shortlist.

Agreed that the 12 finalists are all worthy but personally think there's a slight bias towards Paralympians and my own choice Charlotte Dujardin didn't make it although I didn't really believe she would.
Have added a poll to the thread.
Going for Andy Murray for his USO triumnph - particularly since he wasn't really playing that well.
