Thought I'd get this going with the publication of the 2014 entry list, featuring the drivers' personally-selected race numbers: RED BULL-RENAULT 1 - Sebastian Vettel (carrying no.1 as world champion but will have 5 when he eventually loses the title) 3 - Daniel Ricciardo MERCEDES 6 - Nico Rosberg 44 - Lewis Hamilton FERRARI 7 - Kimi Raikkonen 14 - Fernando Alonso LOTUS 8 - Romain Grosjean 13 - Pastor Maldonado McLAREN-MERCEDES 20 - Kevin Magnussen 22 - Jenson Button FORCE INDIA-MERCEDES 11 - Sergio Perez 27 - Nico Hulkenberg SAUBER-FERRARI 21 - Esteban Gutierrez 99 - Adrian Sutil TORO ROSSO-RENAULT 25 - Jean-Eric Vergne 26 - Daniil Kvyat WILLIAMS-MERCEDES 19 - Felipe Massa 77 - Valtteri Bottas MARUSSIA-FERRARI 17 - Jules Bianchi ?? - Max Chilton CATERHAM-RENAULT ?? ?? 2014 race calendar: (* = live on BBC) 1 - 16/03 - AUSTRALIA (Melbourne) 2 - 30/03 - MALAYSIA (Sepang)* 3 - 06/04 - BAHRAIN (Sakhir) 4 - 20/04 - CHINA (Shanghai) 5 - 11/05 - SPAIN (Barcelona)* 6 - 25/05 - MONACO (Monte Carlo) 7 - 08/06 - CANADA (Montreal)* 8 - 22/06 - AUSTRIA (Red Bull Ring) 9 - 06/07 - GREAT BRITAIN (Silverstone)* 10 - 20/07 - GERMANY (Hockenheim) 11 - 27/07 - HUNGARY (Budapest) 12 - 24/08 - BELGIUM (Spa-Francorchamps)* 13 - 07/09 - ITALY (Monza)* 14 - 21/09 - SINGAPORE (Marina Bay) 15 - 05/10 - JAPAN (Suzuka)* 16 - 12/10 - RUSSIA (Sochi)* 17 - 02/11 - USA (Austin) 18 - 09/11 - BRAZIL (Interlagos) 19 - 23/11 - ABU DHABI (Yas Marina)*

Big question will Kimi Raikkonen be any happier this year?

Wonder why (if there's any specific reason) Adrian Sutil chose no.99?

Big question will Kimi Raikkonen be any happier this year? He might be if he actually gets paid.

Wonder why (if there's any specific reason) Adrian Sutil chose no.99? Probably just for the crack. It's the highest number he could've gone for. Alonso's number is a lucky one from his karting days, Button's is the one he had when he won the world title, while Raikkonen just decided to keep the same number he had last year. Not sure what the relevance of 44 is for Hamilton.

Max Chilton has been confirmed at Marussia for next season, alongside Jules Bianchi.

Personally-selected race numbers are interesting, but might be the most interesting thing to happen if it continues to be so one-sided. Shame nobody went for 0 a la Damon Hill.

That's because they could only pick 2-99. Coulthard had 0 because he replaced a world champion so 1 would not be apt.

Coulthard never had 0. As frag says, it was Damon Hill, in 1993 and 1994, because Mansell and Prost didn't defend their titles in those years. Coulthard had 2 when he replaced Ayrton Senna - the same number Senna had been racing with that year, and Mansell had that number as well when he came back for a few races.

Apparently Gary Anderson has been pushed from the Beeb's coverage this year. A lot of fans are up in arms

Jody Sheckter had 0 as well. Only 2 drivers.

I'd quite like to go to the Austin race but the ticket prices are just way too crazy. Sorry.

So who's replacing Gary Anderson or is the Beeb not interested in being technical any more? McNish maybe?
