thought i would start a thread on this what bands so you like that are often looked upon and labelled bad.My one would be shed seven the amount of stick and bad press they got is in my view unfair.I loved maximum high and let it ride yet other people treat them as a joke.

Seen Shed Seven live a few months ago and they were great, obsessive fans for sure.
At the moment it would The 1975, a real split between peopel who have actually listened to them properly and people who have seen a video or two, or a couple of hits and ride them of as awful.
My favourite uncool/uncritically favoured band would probably be Goo Goo Dolls, have loved just about everything they have done and all anyone goes on about is bloody 'Iris'

my favourite band as teenager was All About Eve, which were kinda the opposite of cool Oh, I don't know, I was a fan too, but I don't think anyone else at my school had so much as heard of them. But they had mystery and beauty about them, at least, and in large quantity. Only slightly later though, my favourite band was Carter USM - now, surely they absolutely were the polar opposite of cool?!

With Carter USM, I think it was largely a matter of whether people "got" them. Their image and their song titles meant that a lot of people wrote them off as a novelty band whereas others, like me, tried to look beyond that. Yes, they could be utterly daft, but in a good way. Their live shows were chaotically brilliant.

Seen Shed Seven twice live in the last few year, great band, great live and some top songs. I just saw Kula Shaker live for the 4th time last month, they went through the same thing
Electric Six, 11 excellent albums and a few from before they were Electric Six, amazing live, they are just fun, that's the joke, however some people don't get it
The Darkness are another band that get treated a bit like a joke that I love
Andrew WK too

I like a lot of uncool bands though Some others: The Corrs, Travis, Stereophonics, Kings of Leon, probably even Biffy Clyro would count. I also like The Police which is apparently dreadfully uncool.

2 unlimited, very popular in the 90s and sold lots of singles and albums but have always got a ton of stick ! I've seen them live a number of times and they are very hardworking and amazing live ! There music is full of energy and they did co-write all their stuff !

Transvision Vamp were cool/not cool. They were immensely me me me me me (well Wendy James was) they just so happened to have a couple of really good singles, and some really bad ones (Born To Be Sold).

my favourite band as teenager was All About Eve, which were kinda the opposite of cool No I think they were, I just don't think they recovered from the TOTP incident which must have been a confidence knock.

I saw Shed Seven live a few times in the 1990s. They certainly didn't deserve the amount of stick they got.

That TOTP incident is TV gold. I always loved a bit of EMF & saw them live in 1995 - great show. Don't think they were ever particularly cool

The other kids at school laughed when I said I liked The Associates. One of them did 5 years for supplying class As which helps underline their cretinosity. (Kid at school, that is, not an Associate.)

but the miming incident was a technical error, right? I mean, it was not the band's fault
good they came back the following week and gave a stunning performance... this is easily my fav song of the 80s...
