Newcastle may be unstoppable now? Wouldn't go that far, I read last month that they still had to play all of the top 7 before the end of the season. Obviously they've got Brighton out of the way but they've still got tough games to play, including Tuesday against us. Also, never thought i'd be saying this but Huddersfield still have a chance. Big game today against Newcastle, if they get at least a point and win their game in hand they'll be 5 points behind. Having said that, if Newcastle win then I think the top 2 is probably sorted.
Edit - Daz explained the fixtures coming up better than me. I think Fulham may sneak into the playoffs (and tbh I do feel that if they don't they'll be kicking themselves) but I hope they don't as I think it would be bad news for us.

I think if they'd lost to Brighton or lose today then they may wobble, if not they'll be okay probably. I was watching Chester v tranmere last night and a tranmere sub got booked for not showing the linesman his studs as he came on. He actually came onto the pitch for a corner and the ref told him to go back to the linesman where he kind of showed his studs, ran back to the box, where the ref booked him, they were losing at the time, and he just wanted to get a goal back. Mi d you this was the same ref that gave a penalty when it was a good yard outside the box. Some refs seem to think it's all about them...

Another trip to the bookies. It's the last bet I'll make for a few weeks if this doesn't come up trumps... for tomorrow night's football:
Reading 0 Newcastle 1
At 13/2 it's worth a punt...

Unless we win, I think i'm going to be focusing on the Fulham-Leeds game tomorrow just as much though, especially as a mate is going. Really hoping Leeds don't lose otherwise I suspect our top 6 place may be in some jeopardy.
Big game for Maidenhead tonight as well, away to Chelmsford in a 4th v 2nd battle in National League South.

Chelmsford 0-1 Maidenhead
Takes Maidenhead back to the top of the table. Top 5 and a playoff place was the target this season but even Alan Devonshire the manager said a few weeks ago they were doing better than expected. I really hope they can finish the job, especially as if they don't go up the top scorer Dave Tarpey will surely go given that he's scored well over 30 goals this season...

Reading 0 Newcastle 0
Att: 23,121 (from what I can see, Reading's biggest crowd of the season)
A better result for Reading than for Newcastle. Both sides had their chances with Newcastle hitting the post and Reading grazing the bar in the last minute of the game. And I lost my £10 bet! If only Newcastle could have scored...

Charlton 2 - 1 Scunthorpe.
Two teams entering this fixture in bad form. Charlton had lost the previous 4 against lower-mid-table opposition but have not lost to any of the top 5 this season so far. Scunthorpe were 2nd but had yielded that place to Fleetwood 3 days earlier in a 0-2 home defeat.
Not a particularly great game, but Scunthorpe didn't really turn up for the first 60 minutes and their manager and fans admit that, and Johnnie Jackson's goal from a corner midway through the first half was separating the teams.
After 60 mins they made a substitution and had several threats on goal and Charlton were defending on the backfoot for a few minutes. Declan Rudd did well to turn a close range header onto his post, but was to blame for Scunthorpe's equaliser when he dropped a cross.
The last 20 minutes or so after that saw Charlton mostly defending but Scunthorpe didn't really create a major chance to win it. Charlton had a few players shown yellow cards. However in the last minute on a rare Charlton attack, Texeira was fouled in the area and Tony Watt converted the penalty to make it 2-1.
That result goes further to indicate the two teams may well be in the same division next season too.

Yep, it was our biggest crowd of the season, helped apparently by Newcastle fans sitting in the home end! Seems we just about deserved the draw, pretty pleased with the result.

Crazy result, shame that the dive for the second penalty takes the gloss off it...

True, but why as a defender put your arm over someone's shoulder, even if you don't pull them back, to the ref behind you it will look like a foul.

Panic, they were blowing the most high profile 4 goal lead in the history of football, Suarez dived, all 3 officials were conned and the rest wont matter now

Newcastle 1 Fulham 3 Oh dear... We seem to be finding it hard going when playing at home at present.

Well if Huddersfield win their game in hand Newcastle will only be 3 points above 3rd, I thought they were up after they beat Huddersfield and Brighton

Last season Brighton faded towards the end of the season after being in the top 2 for a while. I just hope Newcastle don't do the same this season.

I was more disappointed Newcastle lost yesterday than Reading (I went for a 2-0 defeat in our game - watched it online as it was the featured 3pm Championship game for some reason) as it's really closed the gap between us and Fulham. 2 massive games coming up against Sheffield Wednesday away and Leeds at home. If we lose either of those then we're in serious danger of dropping out of the Top 6. Atm I wouldn't say i'm confident about winning either. I've seen us play Leeds at home 3 times and we didn't win any of them, though how we didn't win 2 of them i'm not too sure.

Fulham and Leeds look very good at the moment, them two and Huddersfield for the playoffs for me with one of Sheff Wed or Reading so that could be the big one

We supposedly have a nice run-in though I haven't really looked that far ahead (though I am thinking of going to one of them). I do know we've still got Villa and Norwich away to play which will also be tough, Villa haven't lost many at home and Norwich will have a new manager by then presumably.
Interesting to discover also that Fulham have got some tough away games coming up.
