That's a pretty good effort at getting more goals than there were paying customers. I assume the goalkeepers found something better to do after the first 14 minutes.
How does that work? There were 14 goals and 89 in the crowd. Or have I missed something? Which is quite possible...

My son always seems to find a stream to watch a match if he needs to, despite my warnings to him. Just coming back to this. Been given a link to download streamed matches. Apparently the Cardiff-Reading game was streamed yesterday (think it was the featured 3pm Championship game and they are always streamed), will be downloading that as it was a game worth watching, a pleasantly surprising result, and an 89th min winner always makes it a bit more satisfying!
On another note, got to mention Maidenhead top of the National South with 15 pts from 6 games. Early days and they've started well in the past and it's ended up meaning sod all, but I really thought they'd make the playoffs last season and they've conceded just 2 goals so far...
It's also worth mentioning that Poole Town are doing rather well in the same league.

I didn't say they succeeded, just that it was a pretty good effort.

I thought maybe you were saying the score 9-5, was 95, so better than 89 Kboro won 7-0 the other week. after Shirebrook had their captain sent off, think they beat us 2-1 last season as well. Problem is at £5 a pop to watch them think I will pick and choose my games to go to this season.

And here's a scoreline you dont see that often, this is in the NCEL, which is Knaresborough Town's league. Penistone ChurchDale Kelly 23, 37, 89 Daniel Joynes 42 Tom Cadzow 48 Lewis Dickinson 50, 63pen Ashley Ellis 60 Scott Whittington 90 9-5 Grimsby BoroughJason Flint 14pen Daniel Trott 46, 90pen William Peers 72pen Jack Debnam 76 Att: 89 HT: 3-1 Nice! The same day, there was a match in the Scottish Lowlands League between the pleasantly named Civil Service Strollers (cue joke about work ethic) and East Stirling. It was 3-7 at half time! After both teams were evidently told to tighten up at the back, the game finished 8-3 to East Stirling.

I noticed that Go past the stadium every weekday on the train to work. Tempted to go to a match at some point... Please do... i'd love to read a report of one of their matches on here! Not going to blame you if you don't though as I've been tempted to go to an away game in Kent for years (9 since they won promotion to Conference South) and still haven't been yet. Not really sure why, gave serious thought about going to see them at Margate last season as it was actually an away game that would been local, but ended up not bothering. Got a feeling I may have missed the chance now...
A decade ago the prospect of Maidenhead playing Conference football at York Road was unthinkable (it still kinda is really to me) and there was talk about them moving away if they had ambitions of going higher (rather like Reading pre Mad Stad). IIRC there was a site mentioned near the rugby club and i'm guessing if that was feasible it may have happened. Nowadays, they've had a new stand put in in recent times and they want to put a 3G pitch in Quite how they've got the finances for the pitch I don't know, but i'm presuming they do meet the criteria for the playoffs/promotion should they get there.
On another note, discovered over the weekend that Slough have finally got their new home (they've been playing at Beaconsfield for years) and play their first game there today in a sell-out match. It's an area of the town I don't know at all and having visited it on StreetView when the move was looking like happening (think that was maybe a couple of years ago now so it's taken a while for it all to go through) the area didn't ring any bells at all!

Did a bit more research on York Road, Maidenhead's ground. It is the oldest continuously used (by the same club) ground in the world, having been Maidenhead's home since 1871 (145 years!)
In the same year, the ground even played host to one of the first four FA Cup matches. The 145th anniversary of that event falls on November 11th; Maidenhead have a home game vs Bath on the 12th... that game or a home FA Cup match could be good ones to break the ice, although I'm potentially travelling for work again soon and we have other trips to fit in somewhere, so we'll have to wait and see.
I've been travelling past that ground several times per week for ten months, and never knew it had such a history!
Update: reading further on the website, saw a page advertising that their match on 30th August vs Eastbourne would be free entry. Trouble is, that 30th August was two years ago - and it finished 0-0!

That history is why I'm quite glad Maidenhead are still at York Road. Interesting about the 145th anniversary, that's on an international weekend so no excuse for me not to take interest in the game.

Is anyone else yawning in boredom at this Slovakia v England game? We were close to scoring a few minutes ago, the post saving Slovakia, but where is this "new era"..?

well, at least we got a last minute goal by our best by-far player, Lallana.
Otherwise, we were very pedestrian...

Even by England standards that match was woeful. Time for Allardyce to go. I was going to watch the post match interview but having heard Sam's interpretation of games for Newcastle when he was our manager (and more recently, the same for both West Ham and Sunderland) I can almost guess what he is going to say so decided to switch off the TV and do something more exciting instead. I'm now watching the paint dry in my freshly painted kitchen as it's less predictable

I'm not quite sure what people were expecting? What does it matter anyway, it's a qualifier, it's the actual comps where the players free and realise they aren't actually that good, but still get paid gazillions by their clubs due to the glorified Premier League! Who said it would be a new era? Big Sam, if so, they'll be used against him in the future, as they are now.

I just don't think we are that good, we don't have the players, in particular ones that will score lots of goals.
The era where we might have won something has passed. Our best years in recent times were under Sven.
And recall that in 2008 our clubs were dominating in Europe but we didn't even qualify for the Euro 2008.

It was an exact replay of the euros with the exact same players at the Euros and for 93 minutes was the same score as the euros
We have to give the 50m 300k a week players who are "the best" in the country a 2nd chance before they get dismantled and replaced.
I think that's Kanes last game for England for a while. He is useless

Otherwise Kane was completely anonymous.

And yet my son constantly goes an about how we have to play Kane as he's the best striker in the Prem, blah, blah, blah...
