I'm just saying please try and hold in the excitement until those of us can watch it legally. I'll hold off commenting until after 9pm, some absolute classic lines from Clegane though! Why hold off commenting until after 9pm? The legal premiere is at 2am on Sky Atlantic, beyond which anything is fair game! Yeah cos everyone watches it at 2am

I still don't really understand how it's not just easier to avoid this thread for the less-than-24-hour period between 2am and 9pm...

True, but that wouldn't help with posts made on Wednesday the 16th August and Friday the 18th August would it? But I'll stay out of this thread til Monday night now as I cant watch it til then Assume this one has leaked? Wow, OMG, etc.

SPOILER-FREE Just watched the end of season 7 and have to say this has been the best season so far imo. Definitely looking forward to the final season

OK this post has spoilers for the finale so look away now if you haven't seen it yet: MY GOD THAT WAS AMAZING I haven't actually loved this season all that much but, wow, that finale... just wow! Cersei's well-executed backstabbing, Arya and Sansa's incredibly satisfying takedown of Littlefinger, Jon's true name and parentage finally being officially revealed and then of course the UNDEAD DRAGON MELTING THE WALL WITH ICY FIRE!!! I just want to go watch it again now

great season and great finale, although I did enjoy epi 6 more and the dragon waking up would have been a better season finale imo
the finale was great especially the Sansa/Arya scenes
the Jon/Danny thing was a bit forced imho, especially the I cannpt have babies/yes you can bit
great season overall although the pace does feels like 100% different from the book/early seasons

I dunno, for me at least the Wall falling this season felt necessary in order for the Night King to finally graduate from being a potential threat in the near future to being an actually-marching-south-right-now threat. The dragon opening its eye as a season-closer would have been just even more foreboding rather than actual boding (besides which, the Hobbit movie got there first )

I agree about Jon and Dany. It's been screamingly obvious for so long but they don't convince me the way Jon and Ygritte or Dany and Drogo did.

So glad Arya and Sansa were plotting Littlefinger's downfall and it came in great style, brilliant! Cersei blaming Tyrion for the death of her children, is this a sign of her madness, Olenna killed Joffrey, Tommen jumped after CERSEI killed his wife, and Mycella was where she was because of dealings down by Tywin wasn't she? I know it wont happen like this as it's too easy, but all the living need to do is arm themselves with dragonglass arrowheads and aim them at the Whitewalkers to wipe out massive amounts of the army, and seeing as they walk at the front at the front of the army, it shouldn't be too hard to wipe out most of the army? As for the guy on the dragon, guess we will get some dragon on dragon action in the final season then?

Other way around: Tyrion sent Myrcella to Dorne whereas Tommen's death could be said to have been Tywin's fault as he orchestrated the alliance with the Tyrells (but yeah, it was Cersei's fault really).

But I'll stay out of this thread til Monday night now as I cant watch it til then Assume this one has leaked? Wow, OMG, etc. You can be so grumpy sometimes, it's untrue! The posts of people who watched the show early were EXACTLY along the lines of "OMG" and "wow" because no one wanted to post spoilers ahead of people watching it properly at the time it was first broadcast and yet you seem to be heaping disdain upon those posts. Saying you would hold off posting anything until after 9 even though you'd watched it earlier was as it you were being sanctimonious about the correct time to post a review or comment. We live in a global age and people on here could legitimately be watching it in America - should they be banned from commenting? Many people record it at 2am and watching in the morning - why should they not post their thoughts? Anyway, I *did* watch it at 2am along with quite a few others, but I held off commenting on here so I wouldn't get told off by dad. It was an incredibly tense first half hour with the dragon pit meeting - I kept expecting someone to crack and 'fire the first shot' as it were, in a typical stand off. The Littlefinger twist was great, but I still don't think it made up for the awful scenes with Arya and Sansa in the last two episodes. It was strange that Sam knew exactly what Gilly had been waffling about before they left Oldtown, as soon as Bran mentioned it. A shame she wasn't included in the scene to point it out. I wasn't expecting Jon to be known as 'Aegon' as that adds a weird slant to history with Rhaegar having two sons with the same name (and definitively ruling out one subplot from the novels, thankfully). The bringing down of the Wall was spectacular, though it seemed only possible because of the dragon, making the mission north of the Wall even more stupid, and it was odd that Castle Black (the last line of defence in the North for the entire series so far) was not party to that assault, but rather Eastwatch, because like, that's where all the cool guys are (sorry Ed). I just hope the producers get things rolling properly to get the final series out in 2018, I'm tired of hearing rumours about 2019. It's bad enough GRRM can't get the books done, without the TV show following suit.

Tyrion was massively to blame for Myrcella's death. It was no secret that the Martell's hated the Lannisters, yet he still had her sent there for her 'safety'. I don't think it was deliberate but I do think it was stupid (he's made a rather large collection of stupid choices over the 7 seasons).
Overall, I'm really disappointed with this season. And the finale especially.
Considering this was the first time we've seen so many main characters in the same place at the same time, the dialogue was pretty poor and forgettable.
Also I think the dragon breathing blue flames and flying faster than a fighter jet despite decomposing wings with holes all over them seemed a bit too 'sci-fi' for me.

My bad on who sent Myrcella to her death... I too didn't like the holes in the dragon's wings, it may be dead/undead, but it still has to be able to fly... Just 6 eps left, but is there a suggestion we wont get them in 2018?

The holes in the dragon's wings were a little odd given that he hadn't been dead long and was in a cold environment! I hope the Night King has read the fine print on the warranty under 'wear and tear'. That said I'm used to seeing undead dragons in various other fantasy things so I'm probably desensitised to them to some extent.
It seems like most people weren't that impressed by the finale. For me it was one of the best episodes this season, and certainly the most satisfying. But season 7 is also one of the weakest seasons overall, so...

I think the whingers have been more vocal this year and it's becoming 'cool' to moan about the show and say how lame it is without GRRM's material. All respect to the guy, but the last two books were very difficult reads and I'm not convinced he'll ever produce books 6 and 7 to satisfy the reading crowd either.

Just 6 eps left, but is there a suggestion we wont get them in 2018? There have been some reports that they haven't even got a production schedule together yet and that it was tight getting these 7 episodes ready for this year with some suggestion it might not be ready until 2019. I really think if they get filming underway in the next couple of months, they should still be able to deliver the series in 2018. I'd rather we got it late in 2018 than not at all that year, but there have been precedents - The Wire had a two year hiatus in the middle of its run and Breaking Bad did a split final season with a full year between the two halves.

I'd like for the show to air in winter for once instead of spring/summer. Even if it means late 2018...

Wow, shorter series, but longer waits I think people's disappointment may come from no major deaths in the finale, Littlefinger was always a player, a lot like Varys, and we always knew he'd get his comeuppance...

Little Finger being taken down in that way didn't cut it for me. He's been a key player in the 'Game' right from the very start, pretty much causing the battle of the five kings single handedly. I feel he deserved a more 'epic' trial and execution.
Based on the leaked scripts, it looks as if one scene was cut from the finale. Every other aspect of the script was included and accurate, with even the dialogue being identical to what we viewed. I wonder if they changed their minds with the writing, or if they're just saving the scene for next season?
