Real Madrid 3 Liverpool 1
So Real Madrid win the Champions League. They were the better team and were aided by two goalkeeping blunders by Liverpool keeper Loris Karius.

I told Sam to cash out at £11, and e didn't and it's gone What a goal by Bale in the CL as well, although you could also say, what howlers by Karius, shocking at that level, does he have any Scottish heritage? And I'm convinced Ramos meant to do that to Salah, and it wasn't even a foul, awful.

Karius didn't exactly do himself any favours by claiming the first goal was a foul. It's a bit difficult to foul a player from two yards away.

I wanted Liverpool to win but I had to laugh at Karius. He has done this kind of thing over a dozen times but Klopp is more interested in spending 75m on defenders or building a team full of attackers instead of buying a half decent keeper. The fact no body is surprised Karius had a nightmare says it all.

I'm reminded of the old 16 times World Darts Champion Phil "The Power" Taylor quote "I don't mind getting beaten; it's when I lose I get upset ..."
Last night Liverpool definitely did not get beaten by Real Madrid because the Spanish side were superior; but rather they lost because of Klopp's insistence on playing a former Mainz player who is uncapped at German full international level, when he clearly was and is not good enough, and made two catastrophic errors to erase Peter Bonetti's 1970 World Cup QF performance as the worst by a goalkeeper in a high profile match involving a British team.
Otherwise all I have to say can be summarised as:
1. Hopefully Mo Salah can go to the World Cup; and get his revenge against Sergio Ramos' Spain in the 2nd Round.
2. Gareth Bale’s first goal was an absolute cracker deserving of winning any football match, plus he has surely added £40m-50m to his price tag from a likely Manchester Utd bid in the summer.
3. At least "the winker" Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t score.
4. Sergio Ramos is like a 21st Century cross between Tommy Smith & Graeme Souness. Liverpool have badly missed having a dirty cheating master of the dark arts in their side since Luis Suarez moved to Barcelona.
5. Jurgen Klopp Last 6 Finals = 6 Defeats. This is starting to look a little more ominous than just being the unlucky underdog taking on the superior on paper favourite.

Karius didn't exactly do himself any favours by claiming the first goal was a foul. It's a bit difficult to foul a player from two yards away. I think his claim was that the ball needs to bounce before an opposing player can touch it - Henry had a goal disallowed once for intercepting a Friedel drop-kick. The rule (which the commentator in the above clip got wrong) is that while the keeper is bouncing the ball or in the middle of a drop-kick, the ball is in the keeper's possession and intercepting it is a foul. However, this doesn't apply here as Karius was clearly throwing/rolling the ball out (see also Shay Given vs Dion Dublin from the 90s).

On BT the other night? Quite possibly - I was in a busy pub (and at the bar when the first two goals were scored).

Coventry beat Exeter 3-1 and get back out of League 2 at the first attempt, good to get rid of another "big" side, dont think it will help Mansfield anyway, as I think we will be mid table fodder, with no new signings, and other players leaving

Can he play in nets?

Nope. But "He can play six, eight and two - this is cool".
However, he & his agent also knows a national team mate with a girl's name who is pretty handy in nets, who does not look like he is carrying two Coffees & a continental pastry when a long range Gareth Bale shot is approaching. Unfortunately, Real Madrid are sniffing around him as well...

More silliness at Leeds as yet another head coach / manager is sacked. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44332089That said, Leeds struggled under Paul Heckingbottom but the next appointment will be the 10th manager / head coach in 4 years. There's just no stability.

I see the magnificent Paul Tisdale has chosen to leave Exeter. For a few weeks (following Arsene Wenger's departure from Arsenal), he was the league's longest serving manager.
So, who is now the longest serving boss in the Football League ?
1 point if you know. I'll post the answer tomorrow, if I remember.

Heckingbottom was never the right man for the job, but is this guy either, we shall see. Shrewsbury have appointed Macclesfield's manager Jon Askey as their new manager after Paul Hurst left for the Ipswich job, and Tisdale has left Exeter and is rumoured to be going to MK Dons. Wonder who will go for the Exeter jon, and if they can make the playoffs for the 3rd time in a row. In other sad news, our U18s captain has died just days after ebing given a contract as part of our U23s squad
