In this topic I will rewrite the history and select my favourite single for each week, based on UK Singles chart.
1980s is the most popular and loved decade on Haven, so possibly it's the best choice for start.
After the finish of the first part I can continue this musical journey and do the same list for other decades (1970s, 1990s, 2000s and maybe even for vintage 50s and 60s).

Day Trip To Bangor does have a certain appeal. I remember it was used on an advert in the 80s (butter or margarine I think) and I only found out later it was an actual hit song.

I think 'Day Trip To Bangor' would rate among my top 10 worst songs of 1980, maybe ok to look back at in retrospect but it was awful to live through.

(09.03.1980) : Blondie - Atomic (1 week at # 1)
UK chart : # 1
Very far from my favourite Blondie's songs, but still good enough for # 1 in the weekly chart.

(06.04.1980) : Dooleys - Love Patrol (1 week at # 1)UK chart : # 29 In 1975 year Dooleys were invited to tour in Eastern Europe. During the tour they recorded a live album at the Russia Hall in Moscow (The Dooley Family in Moscow, Live Concert at Russia Hall, October 29th 1975). I have it on vinyl. This was a couple of years before they had a chart hit in their homeland, and some three years before Elton John's concerts in Soviet Union.

26.04.1980 : Prima Donna - Love Enough For Two (4 weeks at # 1)
UK chart : # 48
It's a good old tradition to have British Eurovision entry on the top of my chart. It's my second favourite ESC in all long history of the contest. Just look in top 5 : wonderful Dutch "Amsterdam" from Maggie Macneal, "Theater", "Love Enough For Two", "Cinema" and Ireland was on the throne. Perfect results !!!
My Top 3 (Eurovision - 1980) : 1. United Kingdom 2. Netherlands 3. Luxembourg

(15.06.1980) : Brotherhood of Man - Honey Don't Throw Our Love Away (3 weeks at # 1)
UK chart : -
Besides their three UK # 1s Brotherhood of Man is not very popular group even among core fans of pure pop. In my opinion they deserve much more love and attention. BoM have a big discography with a lot good songs. Quite interesting act for the participation in our adorable Haven Factor.

(06.07.1980) : Brotherhood of Man - Will You Love Me Tomorrow (2 weeks at # 1)

Brotherhood of Man have replaced themselves at the top of the chart. It's very rare, but not unique situation.

Some of the songs I don't know at all or haven't heard for some time. Barbara Dickinson is a guilty pleasure though. Never heard of Prima Donnas that sounds dated a lot:-)

Some of the songs I don't know at all or haven't heard for some time. For this # 1s thread I used not only the official UK chart, but also checked 45cat database for the acts, which had Top 40 hits in late 70s and early 80s. It's a good source, when you want to find the released, but not successful singles.

(03.08.1980) : Sue Wilkinson - You Gotta Be A Hustler If You Wanna Get On (10 weeks at # 1)
UK chart : # 25
Possibly it's the most interesting week in 80s with three new songs in top 3. True British rock band Schoolgirl with their classic "Race With The Devil" at # 3. ABBA got a silver medal with wonderful "The Winner Takes It All and it's not a misprint Sue Wilkinson's single spent 10 non-consecutive weeks at # 1.
Will I have any other songs with insane 10 weeks on the top in future ?
