Highlight was the debut of Garbage. Shirley Manson's hair gets shorter with each appearance thereafter

Jo Brand introducing Smokie featuring Roy Chubby Brown as "a 70s band and a fat bloke" was quite telling I guess, she didn't even want to say his name. I doubt she's a fan.
I don't mind Simon Mayo generally, but attempting to turn every link on an entire show into a poem was pretty awful. Was he bored?
Pulp were brilliant of course, plenty of pretty ropey stuff on at the moment though.

Not sure how many more of these I will do, given the BBC has decided that people do not want to watch big-screen stuff on big-screens, so will only allow people to watch a visual medium on the tiniest screen possible. Apparently it is too expensive to keep the iplayer going, they'd rather throw millions to Lineker to spout clichés on Match of the Day as part of his entry-level antisemitism course. f***ing ****s. I don't follow - what's changing? Can you not access the iPlayer on TV? Still seems to be on Sky Q. I record them all anyway, I find it too hard to find the right ones if I just search for them.

I tend to do them as I'm watching them on the pooter, but it was way easier with the iplayer rather than faffing about with separate windows/tabs/whatever.

Yeh that isn't what is happening, they are taking away the facility to download from some devices but iPlayer is not going anywhere it will still be on every device pretty much.

I usually watch them on TV while doing the ironing on my lunch breaks. I always think of loads of stuff to write in this thread while watching them but then forget it all before I'm back at my laptop.

Found it funny watching Tracy Thorn playing a guitar on Missing, a heavy keyboard track, even she gave up faking playing it halfway through!

I found them 2 from 1995 very boring. Bowie was the highlight for me with what would become a top 40 hit just (No 39). 1983 was very good and 1978 was good also

Just watching the 1974 edition shown on Friday night hosted by Noel Edmonds. Good edition i'd never seen this one before. Would love to see more of this vintage...if they can show them that is.

BTW if anyone (old enough lol) thought the young woman in the Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye promo film looked familiar. It was actress Claire Falconbridge who would later play Miranda Pollard in Crossroads in the 1980s.

Just watching the 30th November 1995 edition. The video to Miss Sarajevo by The Passengers has the chart showing over it, and it gets to Thunder by East 17 at number 12 just as Bono sings “is there a time for East 17?”. That must have been deliberate, surely?

On BBC-4 the other evening there was a repeat of Top Of The Pops for 21/12/95. They played a Madonna track and displayed a message stating that Madonna had sold 100 million CDs. I am sure that total has greatly increased since then. But not quite as many sales as The Beatles. TOTP December 14th 1995.
