What position did the Big Fun version get to, Ep in your chart I nearly posted Blame It On The Boogie, but (a) I genuinely like it, and (b) the video is hilarious because it’s like they’ve been introduced 20 seconds earlier and given a dance routine that they are completely out of time with each other. I will leave it as a hollow threat that I still might.

I love Simply Red's version of that song.

Sindy 'Saturday Night'. I am really glad Sindy covered this, the original was of course barely noticed by anyone when it was released, so it is great to see a little known song being covered and enlisting in such high production values too.

This is nearly as bad as "Kokomo":

Like Black Ducks “Whiggle In Line” - though not a word for word 100% cover was obviously a cheepio cash in, but with added “extras”. I keep hearing recently a dreadful slowed down yet at the same speed Corona “Rhythm Of The Night” bridge and verse version - I shall Shazam it tomorrow - it makes my skin crawl. It’s probably a top ten hit right now as I am so out of touch with the chart, but could also be a local artist. There is a horrendous version of This Time I Know It’s For Real and Knowing Me Knowing You that also crops up now and again from the same South African artist.

Take the greatest Christmas Song ever, and butcher the song by removing the pain and pathos to it as well as the meaningful "faggot" & "b*st*rd" ..... and then go into something else Christmassy for the last minute to prove you've completely misunderstood the meaning of the original: And some people say modern acts are as good as they ever were, this anaemic effort makes the Gary Barlow & Nicole Schwerzinger cover of the same song seem half decent .....
Ed Sheeran & Anne-Marie - Fairytale Of New York

I like the most songs, which were mentioned in this thread and prefer them over originals / most successful versions.
Sindy - Saturday Night spent 3 weeks at # 1 in my retro chart. Whigfield's version even didn't reach top 20. "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" became the first and last # 1 for Jessica Simpson in 2005. "Downtown" was # 1 for Emma. "Last Thing Of My Mind" is in top 5 of my favourite Steps songs. There are absolutely nothing wrong with Girls Aloud cover versions. Madonna "American Pie" was stopped at # 2.
Faith Hill's version is wonderful country pop, the original is crap.

Believe it or not, this was a cover version.....
Irish Comedian Brendan Grace did the original 6 months before the Wurzels did this one....

This is quite a funny one.
In the days before labels collaborating on compilation albums, MFP did the Pickwick budget label thing of getting anonymous session singers to cover contemporary hits, paying the licence fee to the songwriters and thereby being able to incorporate songs from across the musical spectrum.
OK, so far, so uncontroversial. But when it came to doing a cover of The Congregation's hit, MFP managed to get, as the session singer on it, Brian Keith. Formerly of one hit wonders Plastic Penny and later a success as Annas on the Jesus Christ Superstar album.
Thing is, The Congregation was a one-off studio project created by Rogers Cook and Greenaway to record a song they'd never managed to have a hit with, and the session singer they had got in to do the song was...Brian Keith.

So it's a cover of a cover by the guy who did the cover?

Last Christmas has been covered many times but the original by Wham! will always remain the best Here are just some pointless covers of it
and the worst ever

I prefer Cascada version over Wham. She recorded a full album with Christmas popular tunes, "Jingle Bell Rock" is my favourite and even got 14th place in my favourite Christmas songs list.

Thanks to this eloquent review, added to the facts that I love the original and can't stand Ed Sheeran, I know not to bother listening to the song

Smoke Gets In Your Eyes was worse for me, personally. Tripe.
