Story Of A Heart is only one their new song, which sounds like old Steps. See I disagree. Steps have always been dance based. Pure pop but 80% of the time it’s a dance beat behind it, and I don’t think the last album was any great departure whatsoever, except slightly more appropriate for a band in their 40’s.

Obviously it’s right up my alley. Love the ridiculous artwork as well.

I find his music a bit rubbish overall, however to me this is the one time his schtick just worked. The Britney b**** statement worked brilliantly and it felt like a proper big popstar collaboration.

Fantastic track by Shania. Wouldn't probably choose to listen to it now, but was an event at the time and is duly an endearing hit.

It was a shame Madge never got a million seller back in the physical/digital age, though good she has a few now.
I think she seemed more of a consistent seller. I vaguely remember that her top 20 (prior to streaming) never had a million seller but she had about 15-20 tracks above the 400k-ish mark. So consistently strong on 'impressive if unspectacular' sales.

The Myley track is often in the daily top 200 on Spotify in the UK. It seems to be the random pop track from that era that has taken on its own life these days. Very odd given I would expect probably a Gaga song or something to fit that bill.
But fair play to it - it’s a load of cack but it’s an enjoyable romp.

Poor old Louisa. As said above, X Factor was too uncool by the time she won that it probably works against her rather than for her. To be fair, her first two solo singles and the Olly Murs ones all had long chart runs and got certified (which is easy these days to be fair) so she has had some success.
Tears is a good pop/dance track. Million seller? Nah. But certainly a decent track and deserved top five hit at least.

Irreplaceable is a great pop/r&b track, and came at a time where she relatively needed it. Obviously not that much (it is Beyonce), but the second album had fallen quickly and both Deja Vu and Ring The Alarm underperformed quite significantly for her normal standards. This seemed not only to be a huge hit but also save the whole second album project.

From my experience, it did seem somewhat of a LGBT 'positive' track. Not so much in the overall message from it, but more that it simply mentioned the topic, and was a big, positive, dancey pop track. It certainly went off in regional gay bars back down under

I Kissed A Girl, as you say, is such an obvious hit created by a record label. From the 'controversial' lyrics, to the standard 2008 pop beat etc, it's like it was designed to hit #1 because that's what the label felt like that month.
In saying that, I get why it did. Never a favourite of mine, but as a pop song it totally can get in your head and I see why it did as well as it did.

Not too sure, I’m rubbish with technology so I just use Radio Player app and listen whilst at work occasionally - in real time mind, not on catch up.

I do what I think (I Stand to be corrected) a very original Idea myself on my local community station each week. I call it "The Classic top 10 countdown Guess the year show" I count down this weeks Irish top 10 from a mystery year, effectively turning a retro chart countdown in to a guess the year show at the same time. I do 2 different years each week, Year 1 first hour from 1960s-1980s, year 2 second hour from 1990s-2010s. I used the Unofficial chart that was published in the Dublin Evening Herald for the years 1959-early 1967, then the official chart from 1967 to the present day. Different I pick up on the songs that don't normally get played on other guess the year shows that cover the music from the whole year each time I also do 4 batches of clues, featured news piece(On this day in the mystery year) a number 1 round up for this week in the mystery year, I go for 4 other locations in this, the US, UK Australian and World number 1s. Oddly enough this sounds very similar to Cool FM which I think is a Belfast radio station? Somehow I ended up listening to them a few times as they played a great range of music and I remember on weekday mornings they'd do a similar thing where they would play the top ten from a random year and give out clues etc. As you say it's a great way to give an airing to many forgotten gems.

Well yeah, will it be a simply older songs chart? In which case it won't change much week on week. Or is it going to be like a heritage artist type thing...so like the latest top 20 or whatever solely from heritage artists (e.g. when Ronan Keating or Cher or someone releases something new they are eligible, but contemporary artists are not)? That may be a bit more interesting but not too sure what the point is.

Weirdly, MJ is one of those artists that I'm not all that familiar with. Given my age (early-mid 30's) it's a bit surprising. I guess growing up, my parents weren't massive music obsessives, and what they did enjoy was the likes of Abba/Buddy Holly etc, so I was exposed to that as a kid. Then as I started to like my 'own' music I was swept up in Spice mania and so forth and by that time MJ was starting to wind down a bit as far as massive, huge hits went I guess. So in a really weird way he kind of passed me by (other than the Billie Jean/Beat It songs that literally everyone knew).
Over the last 10-20 years I've heard more of his stuff etc and this one is always enjoyable. Isn't one I would immediate associate with him, echoing the above. I'm thinking the Rihanna track perhaps encouraged people to re-evaluate this one and has helped it's streaming in later years?

'Love Story' is a very solid track, and as stated above, solely written by a teenager shows she is a very talented woman.
She's never been one of my favourites, but I've come around recently to recognise that she sure knows how to craft brilliant pop music. And the fact she still throws her everything in to her videos and the like is actually quite refreshing in the current day and age.

Echo everyone else, love the Paloma track and always find myself rooting for her for some reason. Nice to see it in here, hadn't expected that to be honest.

Hehe 'her career never reached the mega stardom heights of the likes of Britney Spears, but her music is far better and has gone on for far longer'. As a Britney fan not happy with that To be fair to Britney she (is? was?) producing music from 98-2016 so it's not as though Pink has gone on far longer. Better/more authentic you could very well have an argument for I'll admit! Anyway, great to see Pink here. Perhaps not the most deserving song - not even from a personal preference side, but simply due to how sales are counted these days has given this a leg up. I'd bet Just Like A Pill, So What, Give Me A Reason etc had a bit more impact and lasting legacy. However, this is a decent one, and nice to see a woman closer to 40 getting a million seller in the streaming era.

Was it Space Jam it is from?
I can easily see why it was successful but I have never liked it - just syrupy, boring, bland, obvious ballad.
The less said about him as a person the better.

See now I love 'Heaven Is A Place On Earth'. It's just a feel good, hands in the air, driving down the highway 80s classic. It's not the best song of all time but it certainly has lasted the distance and is surely one of the best examples of songs of its ilk/era.

Have to disagree on this one. There is something magical about December'63. Yes, it is a bit wedding-party-hell, but only because it is such a brilliant track. I guess as I wasn't around when it first came out so whilst I've known it for years it was very much 'randomly in the background' until I was in my late teens and starting to discover older music a bit more etc, so I haven't outplayed it.
