More difficult to pick than I thought it would be given an initial first glance.

Agree with the person who was sent home this week. It was clearly between two, and the one that stayed has been by far the better all-round candidate.

Ruby's showstopper looked terrible in comparison to the rest which looked much more professional. The judges seem keen to overlook her flaws... I do actually agree with this. Ruby's showstopper was dreadful, and she should not have been awarded star baker even given her good performances in the previous challenges.

I'd dearly like them to pick up rights to show The Mole. That was epic tv viewing.

Beth had a clear advantage being a gymnast. Matt got all perfect scores from the panel vote in the final but failed to win the public vote. I question how much the general public can know about ice skating, but obviously they want to have a public phone-in vote partly for the public interest and partly for their cash. And Matt has a clear advantage being an actor, therefore finding it much easier to put emotion into what he was doing in front of the camera. They both had different strengths, neither strength gave the competitor a distinct all-round advantage. On the night, Matt appeared a little arrogant and was over-marked compared to Beth, in my opinion. The public picked up on that and voted accordingly.

Heather is now up to rank 39 in the WTA; following the Aus open, she's reached the second round in Thailand and the quarters in Memphis, though both times she lost to opponents lower down the rankings, which is a bit disappointing. Laura's at 43, having lost in the first round of the two tournaments she's played in since Aus, against to players well below her in the ranking.

From the thread title, I was hoping this might be a new reality series, where annoying z list celebrities dance on the edge of a cliff, thus greatly increasing the chance they might fall.

So Heather falls to Radwanska 6-3 6-1. Disappointing scoreline, but the match seemed closer than the scoreline really gives credit for. The most telling stat is in the breakpoints: Heather won just 1 of 8, while Radwanska won 5 of the 8 she had.

And Robson goes through to the third round, beating 8th seed Kvitova. Hurrah! The third set was close, ending 11-9.

If she is to make further upward progress then a victory over the #32 is the sort of match she should win but in the circumstances it might be difficult. Well, the unseeded Pervak beat Mona Barthel (the no 32 seed), giving Heather an easier match in round two than expected. She now plays Radwanska in round three. It's very unlikely she'll win, but it'll be interesting to see how much impact she has on the game. Laura Robson is currently doing ok against Kvitova. Lost the first set after losing 5 games in a row, but bounced back strongly in the second to break twice. Kvitova has broken back once, but Laura still has the advantage.

That was the intention of the bad press he got, but it didn't harm his votes in the first 7 weeks. The voting switched so suddenly after the James vs Ella bottom 2 that it makes me think it was voting for the talent rather than the stories that switched the vote. Are you seriously claiming the Christopher Maloney has been accused of strangling a former Cruise Ship colleague in a row that turned sour story which broke the Monday after Week 7 in that bastion of "The Truth" towards Scousers over the years The Sun newspaper had absolutely zero impact. Because I think that was the game changing moment against his chances of winning. No, I'm sorry, but the game changing event was the two most talented performers on this years show being in the bottom two only midway through the series. That is the event that changed the game against his chance of winning, and quite rightly too given his level of talent. The bottom two that week should have been Rylan and Chris and the public knew it; from that point on, neither act was destined to win.

But the same didn't happen for the others acts who were bottom two and saved, it's just a huge jump in % that's all. I guess if voting is relatively low, it's not that many more people voting. So if James had gone, would Ella have had a massive bounce or were we looking at a Jahmene victory? I think you would have had a similar just in % for Ella the following week. Whether that would have been sustained or not through the rest of the series I'm not sure - probably not given the differences between voters for male & female competitors.

Does anyone else think it looks odd from week 7 to week 8, has there ever been such a huge turnaround in % and placings? Bottom two and 13.7% to top and 40.7%? What did he sing that week that had such a dramatic effect? I think it's more to do with the bottom two the prior week being so shocking rather than anything he personally did.

My vote would have gone to Hannah Cockroft - not only has she had a great year in sport as so many others, but she really is a fantastic personality. Some of the people on the final list have the personality of a twig.

I <3 Dallas. Though I wish they'd be more careful about what they show as next weeks footage. There could have been a real cliffhanger at the end of yesterday's episode, but no, we know what happened because they've already shown us clips from next week.

Surely Sue Barker should get bonus points for blowing up the Go Comapre man?
