GB's women through to the sprint relay final, winning their semi-final in a British record time, ahead of Jamaica and the USA. The men also through, finishing 2nd in their semi behind Jamaica but the USA are out. Andy Pozzi finished 7th in the 110m Hurdles final.
Bronze for Liam Heath in the canoeing. He's won a medal at 3 consecutive Olympics.
Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix and Lois Toulson through to the 10m platform diving final after finishing 8th and 9th in the semi-final.

Brilliant story tucked away on BBC News when it should get more prominence about a millionaire giving people the funding that the govt. wont to help them continue as athletes and it's paying off! And he funded 20 athletes in the 2012 Olympics! www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-58088648If only more richer people would do the same across the board in all subjects, then the world might be a better place for everyone.

I don't really understand this - how can Dina Asher-Smith be running so brilliantly only a couple of days after pulling out of the 200m with a hamstring injury?
Really unfair but Katy Marchant out of the Women's Kieran after being brought down from behind with no blame whatsoever attaching to her - no chance of a re-run or being re-instated.

I don't really understand this - how can Dina Asher-Smith be running so brilliantly only a couple of days after pulling out of the 200m with a hamstring injury? Because she probably wouldn't have made the final of the 200m when not 100% fit, let alone win a medal. But she's still fit enough to do a job in the relay, especially with the extra rest. It worked very well for some of the swimmers last week. EDIT: The hamstring isn't necessarily injured anymore but because of the training time she missed ahead of the Games, she wasn't able to perform to the best of her abilities in the 100m. Given the relay is a genuine gold medal chance, the decision was taken to prioritise that over the 200m.

Excellent gold for Matthew Walls in the omnium. Despite not being dominant anymore, GB has already surpassed the predictions for track cycling.
Holly Bradshaw finally wins a medal outdoors, finishing 3rd in the pole vault.

A bronze is predicted for Andy Pozzi in the 110m Hurdles and he has qualified for the final. The other predicted medal was a bronze for featherweight boxer Peter McGraile but he was eliminated in his opening bout. Another potential medal chance is Holly Bradshaw in the pole vault. She's regularly made finals over the years but has been in excellent form this year, breaking her own British record. This could be her last major championship as she's previously expressed her intention to step away from the sport and start a family. Sadly there's no Katarina Johnson-Thompson in the heptathlon after she pulled up injured during the 200m at the end of the first day. Tom Bosworth and Callum Wilkinson are in the 20km walk. Bosworth finished 6th in Rio five years ago and 7th at the last World Championships. Deborah Kerr will be hoping to make her second kayak sprint final of the Games in the K1 500m, after finishing 8th in the 200m. In track cycling, Katy Marchant is the keirin and Matthew Walls is in the omnium, which now takes place in one day and consists of four events, rather than six events over two days. He won bronze at last year's World Championships. GB has two women still involved in the 10m platform diving. Lois Toulson was 7th in the preliminary with 16-year-old Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix, the reigning Young Sports Personality of the Year, 10th. They have to negotiate the semi-final before the final takes place later in the day. I'm very surprised that Andrew Pozzi was predicted to get a medal, saw his semi final and he only just qualified for the final as the 2nd fastest loser. Was expecting a bronze medal prediction for Holly Bradshaw instead as she came into the games 3rd in the world rankings. Didn't know what her plans were but thought this would be her last chance to get an Olympic medal. I actually said to someone a couple of days ago that I half expected KJT to pull out injured...it's been the story of the games for our top athletes and she was coming in cold. Pulling up in the 200m just left me in shock. For someone with such limited preparation her first 3 events were great. I was hoping she would give it another go in Paris in 2024 but given her statement today I'm not sure it will happen. There's also a lot of championships between now and then. There have been people who have gained from the games being put back a year but she is definitely someone who lost out. Great to see the women's 4x100m relay team break the British record in qualifying for the final!

Definitely a mix of those who've benefited from the Games being put back a year and those who suffered.
We're in a unique situation now whereby 2021 is the first of 5 years in a row where there will be a global athletics championship, so there is plenty of opportunity for those who had misfortune this time to come back stronger. The Worlds originally scheduled for this year take place next year in Eugene, then it goes back to being in odd numbered years with the '23 Championships in Budapest. Then we have the 2024 Olympics, then the '25 Worlds, wherever they take place (at the moment its looking like Africa or Australia).
The Pozzi bronze prediction was a bit of a surprise to me too. There was nothing really to base it on. He certainly seemed less likely than Holly Bradshaw, considering her 2021 form.
Sprint relays both looking very good, plus both 1500m finals, so still a chance for GB to add to the medal tally. I think 5 is a par score for GB in athletics and that would be a good return for this Games, given the injury problems of some of our main hopes.

Tbh, I thought her coach took her out of the 200m as he thought that 3 events was too much in that timescale and there wasn't much time between the 100 and 200m. I actually expected her to make the 200m final. Agree that the relay is the priority though, and I don't think she would want to let the others down either. Personally I think we're running for silver as Jamaica have still got their top runners to come in. I didn't notice but they said in the coverage that Jamaica's changeovers weren't that slick though so that will give us a bit of hope.

The other thing that I forgot to mention about Pozzi is that was his first Olympic final. Thought he did pretty well not to finish last going on form from the semis, and he ran a slightly faster time into a bit of a headwind, although had he not clipped the final hurdle he may not have been too far off the medals. Colin Jackson said afterwards he thinks he's capable of breaking his own British record but no idea where he gets that from. He also said that Pozzi is inconsistent and suffers from lots of injuries, which only makes me wonder why.

VIRTUAL MEDAL TABLE PREDICTIONS:
Gold: Men's 4x100m relay
Silver: Laura Muir, women's 4x100m relay, Kate French
Bronze: Women's hockey
Five predicted medals on Day 14 for GB. The men's sprint relay team are predicted to win gold, though their semi-final run was solid, rather than spectacular. The women were much more impressive and should at least win a medal if the baton gets round, though Jamaica have some big names to come in to their line-up. Laura Muir is predicted to win 1500m silver, though her opponents include Sifan Hassan, who is attempting to complete the second leg of a unique 1500/5000/10000 treble. Jodie Williams is in the final of the 400m after running sub-50 seconds in her semi.
Kate French is predicted to win silver in the modern pentathlon. She sits 6th after the initial fencing round, but there's still swimming, showjumping and the combined run/shoot to come.
The other predicted medal is for the women's hockey team, who take on India for bronze.
Elsewhere, Lauren Price has her middleweight boxing semi-final and can guarantee at least silver if she beats her Dutch opponent.
There are two more track cycling finals. Laura Kenny and Katie Archibald go in the Madison and Jack Carlin is in the semi-finals of the Sprint and will definitely race for a medal.
In the non-medal events, Tom Daley begins his quest to win individual diving gold after winning the synchro platform event with Matty Lee last week. He's joined by Noah Williams.
The team showjumping qualifying takes place with GB hoping to put themselves in position to add to their impressive equestrian medal tally.

Brilliant silver for Laura Muir in the 1500m. Bronze in the women's sprint relay after a poor first changeover cost them any chance of gold. Silver in the men's relay, looked like it was going to be gold but Mitchell-Blake got passed by Italy on the line.

Superb race from Laura, put herself in the right position, ran a new British record - you can't ask for more than their best.
Unfortunately not the best of races for the wpmen's 4x100 relay team but Jamaica din't have one either and won confortably.
Could Mitchel-Blake not have thrown himself at the line?
