Starts today. Anyone else going ? I know there are some people here based in the Midlands.
I'm going every day except one. Several of those are free events, several are cheap tickets for sports I don't know much about, and a couple are sports I love, and have paid the same amount for a ticket as a Premier Division football match or a T20 international would cost.
Tomorrow I'm at the Velodrome at the Olympic Park with Shirebloggess.

I think I'm sick of that theme tune already.

If I still worked in and around Birmingham, I might have visited one or two events but given how rubbish the trains are between Brum and Manchester at the moment, I'm giving it a miss.
That said, usually I don't put too much effort in watching the Commonwealth Games than I do with the Olympics. I might catch the odd event if I'm bored at work.
Even though it's not a sport in the CWG, I'm keeping half an eye on how the eSports piece fare out next weekend. It's an ambitious move to include it for the next CWG

some photos from the Velodrome One of the aspects of track cycling which has most appeal is that every seat inside the Velodrome gives you a view of the whole event. Not only can you see the whole track, but also the media compound, the pits, the warm-up area, the refreshment zones... There's always something to look at.

The keirin is always exciting. In one of the semi-finals, Joe Truman (England) was knocked unconscious in a 50 km/h crash which also broke his collarbone, whilst Matthew Glaetzer (Australia) suffered a bad case of track rash.

In the keirin final, Trinidad & Tobago's Nicholas Paul powered his way to an emphatic victory, and was probably the day's most popular winner inside the velodrome.

Off to the Rugby Sevens finals in Coventry this evening. Its not a sport I follow, but I know it is exciting, so should be fun.
